21.01.2022 . GET YOUR TAP SHOES ON . I get asked frequently about what styles of Dance I think young dancers should be training in........ My response is that a Dance Educ...ation should be treated similar to an Academic Education! . We all go to school and learn a bit of Mathematics, some Science, History, Literature, etc....... So why should young Dancers only learn one style? . No one will be a Master of every style, but a little experience or taste of different styles will no doubt better equip young dancers with an increased ability to adapt and at least try when a Choreographer asks them to do something! . Set yourself a fun task every now and then and learn a short bit of choreography from YouTube that is of a style you have never tried before...... Flamenco, Irish, Hip Hop, Graham, Tap, Bollywood, 80’s Jazz...... Anything that puts you out of your comfort zone! . Versatility is a very valuable asset for a Young Aspiring Dancer, but even for anyone who doesn’t want to be a Dancer, having a go at learning a bit of Choreography is simply a bit of fun . . . . .
