24.01.2022 I was delighted to take part in the official opening of the latest section of the Sturt Linear Trail which connects the Institute and Horner's Bridge in Coromandel Valley. It's such a beautiful part of our city. This $3.5 million collaborative project between @cityofmitcham and @cityofonkaparinga consists of a 2km, 3 metre wide surfaced trail which accommodates everyone! Walkers, cyclists, prams, and wheelchairs can all use this trail which was co-funded by the councils and state government.

21.01.2022 Work is about to start on the Kingwood Oval Clubhouse $2.1 million renovation. Thanks to joint contributions from federal and state governments and @cityofmitcham the club will undergo extensive works including upgraded changeroom facilities, installation of a lift, and expansion of the viewing balcony. What a wonderful outcome for the community. Congratulations to the clubs - @unleymercedesjetsfc and @unley_gunners

17.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS!! We just got news that the state government have approved $3.5 million for the Blackwood Community Hub. Woohoo!! Along with $5 million from the federal government, committed by Nicolle Flint Member for Boothby and Nadia Clancy during the federal electoral campaign, we are now in the position to build this $12 million baby!! What a wonderful outcome for the residents of the hills, the Blackwood precinct and the @cityofmitcham. I'm so happy and excited. Well done All. #thirtyyearsinthemaking #makingmitchambitchin #publiclibrariesrock

06.01.2022 My motion to write to our parliamentary leaders and ask them to consider changing the date of Australia Day was passed by council. This motion is about unifying all Australians. We embrace Australia Day - our national day of celebration. We just object to the date. At the moment we celebrate Australia on 26 January which is a for some is a date of sorrow. Why wouldn't we, as a nation, choose a date where we can be united in our celebration of this wonderful country? I do not... accept the argument that it is not the place of local government to debate this topic. That is an excuse to hide behind. As the level of government closest to the community it is absolutely our place to have this discussion and as the city in which the Colebrook Home for removed Aboriginal children of located, it is appropriate that this is where the conversation starts. Our motion will be taken to the SA LGA meeting where all SA councils can vote and the ALGA national general assembly where all Australian councils can have their say. #changethedate #starttheconversation #adayforallaustralians See more
