25.01.2022 BREAKING: Yet EVEN MORE local sports clubs to receive $1,000 each to help get them through the pandemic, as part of the fourth round of the Andrews Government g...rants announced! Local sports are the lifeblood of our community. They bring people together and keep people active, social and healthy. Doesn't get better than that. There's no denying it's been a tough time recently for everyone - clubs included. This is why I'm so proud that the first tranche of Community Sport Sector COVID-19 Survival Package grants have been allocated. 15 more local clubs have been some of the first to receive these funds. They include: - Bayswater Junior Football Club - Bayswater North Tennis Club - Boronia Buffaloes Basketball Club - Boronia Lawn Bowls Club - Knox City Cougars Basketball - Batterham Park Tennis Club - The Basin Cricket Club - Heathmont Bowls Club - Heathmont Cricket - Heathmont Hornets Basketball Club - Maroondah Volleyball - Bayswater Bowls Club - Eastern All Abilities Netball - Eastwood Golf and Bowls Club - Wantirna Wasps Basketball Club It's all about backing in our community groups when they need it most - and there's more to come!

They’re an ...amazing club and that’s also why I was glad to fill them in with the news that they’d received a grant for $1,000 to go towards helping them get back on their feet. 21.01.2022 In the late 70s Australia’s legendary country rock band Stars had a string of hits including You’d Better Look After Yourself and The Mighty Rock as well as iconic albums Paradise and Land of Fortune. Sadly, the prolific song writer for the band, Andy Durant passed away in 1980 which led to the wonderful Andy Durant Memorial Concert double album, a massive hit that also featured Jimmy Barnes, Ian Moss, Renee Geyer and Richard Clapton amongst others. The album is et...ched in Australian music folklore. The band finally reformed in recent times with original members Mick Pealing, Mal Eastick, Roger McLachlan along with new members Nick Charles and Erik Chess. While capturing their classic sound the band has also added an impressive catalogue of new songs receiving rave reviews across the land thus continuing the story of this definitive Australian outfit. This gig will feature songs from their new albums Boundary Rider and One More Circle Round the Sun and of course the hits and iconic past glories! No less a music guru than Glen A Baker has called them the Australian Eagles. They are quite simply a superb rock and country rock outfit not to be missed.

12.01.2022 It's been a tough slog for our local sports clubs lately. They are continuing through it all to do an amazing job of connecting with their community. I checked ...in with them recently to get their feedback on a range of issues. I've been really pleased that the Andrews Government has stepped up to provide dozens of one-off survival grants to clubs right across our patch. They're absolute mainstays of our community - and they'll continue to play a really important role when we get to the other side of this pandemic. But it's more than that. It's also about staying connected and to listening to feedback. So hosting regular catch ups to touch base is the very least I can do. Thanks for doing what you do! 11.01.2022 GOOD NEWS FRIDAY: Every single club that received a $1,000 grant from the Andrews Gov sports support package, will now automatically receive an extra $500, no a...pplication, nothing - in the bank soon. And for those who are yet to apply, you still can for a $1,000 grant. Local sports are the lifeblood of our community. They bring people together and keep people active, social and healthy. Doesn't get better than that. There's no denying it's been a tough time recently for everyone - clubs included. This is why I'm so glad to continue to back in local clubs when they need it most. And a few scouting groups were also able to benefit from this program as well. Local clubs receiving the auto $500 top-up include (It's a Long List, good). 07.01.2022 The Board, Bowls Committee and DOC are pleased to announce that Simon Jeffery has been reappointed as Coach for the next 2 years. This is very exciting times for HBC and the reappointment of Simmo further enhances the future direction, vision and goals of the Club. As we see more and more clubs looking for playing coaches, securing Simmo signals a clear intent that Heathmont is heading in the right direction. Thank you to the DOC for their recommendations and all involved in the process. Join us in congratulating Simmo and looking forward to building on a great future for the Heathmont Bowls Club.
