25.01.2022 **DUNKELD DAM RESTORATION WORKS COMPLETE** Works on the reinstatement of the Dunkeld Arboretum dam, damaged in the 2016 floods, are now complete. The flood even...t caused significant water to flow over the wall outside of the spillway footprint. The spillway and discharge channel were significantly damaged, causing erosion and narrowing of the wall structure. Following engineering design work completed by consultant SMEC, contractor LincRoads were engaged to repair the wall and spillway to pre-flood condition. This includes adhering to current engineering standards for large dams, in order to reduce the risk associated with stability and potential dam failure, improving safety for Dunkeld residents. The project was delivered in partnership with Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) through National Disaster Relief Funding Arrangements. Funding of $1million has been released by DELWP to complete the project, with Council contributing the remaining approximately $400,000.

16.01.2022 On this long weekend for the last 10 years the Serra Terror Event occurs within the Grampians National Park. The Committee made an unavoidable decision in advance, due to Covid-19, and declared the event cancelled with the hope to continue in June 2021. It's an amazing sell-out event where hikers of kindred spirit and tenacity gather for an 80km challenge over 2 days of this June Long Weekend. In the past Heathvale Heights Bed & Breakfast has welcomed guests participating i...n this event. Amazingly, over the past fews years they have struck perfect weather for hiking albeit Winter! Filmed in 1958 by the State Film Cent...re for the Tourist Development Authority of Victoria, it features some wonderful shots of mountains and waterfalls, as well as cars and fashions from the era. Our team... is responsible for delivery of 100km of new walking trail as part of the Grampians Peaks Trail Project. We will preference local staff, though accommodation can be made available for the right out of area applicants. Construction involves extensive rock works, so experience in landscaping or stone mason tasks is advantageous, but not essential.
