24.01.2022 Let's talk about breathing, because if there is one thing that we all have in common, without any personal preference, that one thing will be breathing. Is your breathing shallow? Are you suffering from shortage of air when you are doing exercise or trying to hit that high note when you sing? If that is the case, then it is most likely because you are not breathing properly. The most natural and proper breathing is actually the one that utilizes the whole skin of your body, n...ot just the nose and lungs. By breathing through your whole skin in addition of your nose, you ensure that no part of your body is ever lacking of oxygen and your lungs is optimized to the maximum capacity. This natural breathing technique is still practiced today by some native American tribes, allowing them to have better health and remain the best pathfinders even for modern standards. To set a distinction between this and the short-shallow breathing practice that most modern people do, we call this breathing practice as "Total Breathing". How to do Total Breathing? First you need to learn the location of the 3 Dan Tian in your body. Dan Tian means the field of energy, in this case the breathing energy. To locate your lower Dan Tian, expand your stomach as much as you can, draw your breath and hold for 3-4 seconds. The location where the most air gathers is the location of your lower Dan Tian. To locate your middle Dan Tian, retract your stomach as much as you can, draw you breath and hold for 3-5 seconds. The location where the most air gathers is the location of your middle Dan Tian. To locate your upper Dan Tian, inhale as if you have just arrived on a fertile mountain with clear and fresh air, and is trying to really enjoy the air. The area in your forehead where you feel the air the most, is the location of your Upper Dan Tian.
