25.01.2022 A message from the skipper... Hi Gators, apologies for confusion but tonight’s training will be at Mega Courts again. Without a patch of good weather for a few days, the training pitches are very hard to prepare. Tonight’s session is important, we’ve got 3 nets booked for a 5:20 start until 7. Nets will be longer and some filming will be done in preparation for a fielding, throw down and centre bowling session on Thursday. ... Now is the perfect time to get out to training if you haven’t been yet. Due to late notice, please message your mates once you see this to ensure we don’t have anyone rocking up at the wrong place! Tonight: 5:20pm Mega Courts Indoor Sports - 10-18 ALBERT STREET WINDSOR

24.01.2022 AGM tonight 6:30pm @ The Magill Club. On field success begins with off field success. Hope to see you there

24.01.2022 Due to some unforseen circumstances and some footy injuries from yesterday, training today has been postponed until next Sunday.

23.01.2022 Unfortunately the weather today is anti-cricket and it looks as though training for the junior's will have to be postponed. However, we ask that all players, parents and families still attend at 5 o'clock under the old grandstand structure to finalise registrations and have the coaches go through information for the season. Go Gators

23.01.2022 Cricket is back! We hope everyone is enjoying the start to 2021. Unfortunately some of our teams have a bye to start the new year but there is still plenty of cricket happening for Hectorville this weekend. The A's have a bye and both the B's and C's are playing away today. However, there is still a game at Daly Oval if you want to watch some local cricket...Brahma Lodge v Goodwood in a C2 match. The U10's also have a bye for tomorrow but the U12's, U14's and U18s all recomme...nce their seasons tomorrow. Good luck all! Go Gators

21.01.2022 Congratulations to Sasa Pazeski-Nikoloski who tonight has won the ATCA Best First Year Umpire Award! It doesn't really come as a surprise, he's had a lot of practice over the last few seasons. As one of the few over 21 in our B Grade side, Sasa has had to do a lot of umpiring and this season decided to get paid for it! Well done again Sasa. While we haven't had a lot of team success recently, it's great to see another personal achievement from the Gator family.

21.01.2022 Seniors and U18's training this Sunday 2pm at Daly Oval. Expectations are in the video.

20.01.2022 Cricket is back! Great to see a full weekend of matches. Go Gators!

20.01.2022 To all the girlfriends and wives who put up with our love/hate relationship with the game...and sometimes being second fiddle To all the mum's who do all the behind the scenes work in taking kids to trainings, washing the whites, buying the latest bats To all the volunteers who prepare the teas, do the scoring, make the cordials, work the bar and all the other important jobs that wouldn't get done without you ... Happy International Women's Day! While cricket has traditionally been a male sport, it has most definitely been the women in our lives that have had the biggest impact on our careers and from all those at Hectorville we would like to say thankyou. We would also like to wish the Australian women's team best of luck in their World Cup final this evening. Win, lose or draw you will be inspiring the next generation of cricketers. Hopefully we see some at Hectorville next season when we look to start our own female teams.

20.01.2022 It's 35 degrees, the captain has elected to bowl, the opposition are 2/265, the guy who has made a century has been dropped 3 times. And there is still 20 overs to go. Cricket can seem shit sometimes. Luckily, having 10 other players to share the pain with, have a chat at the end of the day with makes these types of days bearable and is why we keep coming back. Unfortunately, not everyone has that same support in everyday life. Or knows how to access that support. And with the year we have had, although better than most places in the world, many people are struggling and need extra support. So if you notice someone who appears to be struggling a little, just ask them "Are you ok?". A conversation can do wonders.

19.01.2022 A fair analogy. But hopefully all has returned to normal by cricket season. Don't forget our AGM 6:30pm Wednesday 24th

19.01.2022 Congratulations to Heccies junior footballer Dan Fairbrother on his selection for his first SANFL league game for Norwood! Norwood v Eagles Friday 28th August 7...:40 @ Norwood Oval All the best Dan from Heccies. #proudtobehfc

18.01.2022 A good start to our seniors season, with 2 out of 3 victories. Good to see some of the new young lads getting in the action. Unfortunately the A grade couldn't get a game up. Our juniors start this weekend but no games for our Saturday senior teams due to the AFL grand final. Training tonight from 5pm @ Daly Oval.... Go Gators!

18.01.2022 We hold the record for the highest 8th wicket partnership! Well done to Daniel Cavacus and Michael Howson. A few stats about this match - Played at St Peter's College against CBC in Round 5 of the 2004/05 season. ... - The 213 runs came from just 18 overs. - We finished on 517, our highest A Grade score on turf. - the 362 first innings margin is our largest first innings victory since being on turf - Gary Dwiar also scored a century that match. - Dan's knock is still out highest individual A Grade score since being on turf. - Ben Smith took more wickets than made runs See more

18.01.2022 We are pleased to announce the appointment of John Beasy as our Sports Chaplain. John comes to our club with a wealth of experience surrounding chaplaincy. He served as a Senior Director in the HR Department in the Mallee Region of Victoria for 20 years. He was also the State President for three consecutive terms and was the National President / Chair of Australian Baptist Ministries for 8 years. John actively contributes to the development of services for vulnerable children... in Vietnam and Bangladesh. Further to this, he is the director of ‘LifeWell’ which provides care and recovery services to individuals and families. Recently, John has commenced a role as the Coordinator of Community Visitor program, which manages the recruitments and places of volunteers in aged care facilities. John really loves his sport and has played over 400 games at various levels. A Sports Chaplain is something that many AFL Clubs and other Sports organisations have so we’re really excited that we will be able to offer this service to our players, both Junior and Senior. A Sports Chaplain can offer skills and support in ways we can’t expect our Coaches and Volunteers to be proficient in- areas such as grief counselling, mental health, family distress, work stress, divorce / relationship issues are some examples. 18.01.2022 To use a cricket analogy, this lockdown is like a test match. It will test your patience and mental resilience. Hopefully by the end you'll come out a winner. Maybe a draw will be a good result. And if you are struggling, always remember there are people to turn to. Your friends and family are just a phone call/text message away. Or there are a number of people who would be happy to chat....please call if you need to, don't let the opposition get to you.

14.01.2022 Dear Hectorville Sporting Club Members, As you know, the outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus) has presented a number of challenges for our community and the Austr...alian sporting landscape is certainly feeling the effects. In light of these challenges, I just wanted to update you on the status of each of the sporting faculties. Football Governing bodies of the AFL and Community Football have recommended the suspension of all competitions until at least the 31st of May. The Adelaide Footy League, National Pharmacies SANFL Juniors, and AFL Auskick, have suspended all competitions and training in keeping with that advice. The Adelaide Footy League Competition will at this stage be delayed until June 13th, and SANFL Juniors & Auskick until at least May 31st. These dates may be further revised as the very fluid situation unfolds in the coming weeks. Senior training will be left to individuals to manage their own fitness. There will be no junior training until further notice. Our football officials will communicate with individual squads in due course about plans moving forward and our club communication platforms will keep people informed of key developments as required. Netball Netball SA has recommended our associations postpone the commencement of all regular winter competitions until May 31, with a view of continuing to monitor the situation. No training is scheduled until further notice. Cricket Cricket Australia has advised the cancellation of all organised cricket nationally. Given the season is over this represents a wait and see planning approach for next season. Tennis Tennis SA has postponed all tennis competitions until further notice and as a result presentations and training will be cancelled. Basketball Basketball SA have suspended all ACBA competitions, trainings and games until further notice. Whilst all the above developments are disappointing, the safety of our members and supporters, their families and the broader community must be paramount. Your Sporting Club Committees will meet shortly to consider strategies around other off field activities currently planned and further communication will occur regarding any decisions made. In the meantime, all Hectorville Sporting Club Members are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the latest advice from health authorities via this link. https://www.health.gov.au//novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-hea The Hectorville Sporting Club Board thanks everyone for their understanding during these challenging times and asks for patience as we attempt to work through this unprecedented situation. On a personal note, I lived in Hong Kong in 2003 throughout the SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) coronavirus and whilst there where challenging periods things turned positively quickly. As a united Sporting Community Club, we have lots of positivity to look forward to with the expanded new facility currently under construction. We hope to be in our new home in the not too distant future. Kind Regards Joe Rossi President

14.01.2022 It is with much sadness I inform you of the passing of former Hectorville player Ash Donnellan a week ago. Ash played over 100 games for Hectorville, coming to the club as a young lad and quickly making an impression. As an opening bowler, he terrorised batsmen on the hard wicket pitches and then was an integral part of the team when we moved to the turf competition. On turf, he represented the A Grade for Hectorville on 49 occassions, claiming 145 wickets (that’s 3 a game!) ...at an average of just 13. All the brille cream he used to shine onto the ball was probably a factor! As a cricketer, he will be remembered for his long opening spells where he wouldn’t give anything to the batsmen, his line and length very consistent. Off the field, he will be remembered for his quick witted jokes and his very talented impressions, no one was safe! Ash, you will be missed by all those that played alongside you and the wider Hectorville community. Our thoughts go out to your family and friends.

14.01.2022 A little reminder

14.01.2022 Our club, looking so good tonight!

13.01.2022 Late change of venue for training tonight.... we will be training indoors at Mega Courts from 5:20 tonight. 5:20pm... Mega Courts: 10-18 Albert Street, Windsor Gardens, Adelaide SA 5087

13.01.2022 Merry Christmas everyone!

13.01.2022 Weekend Matches A3 v Pembroke @ Daly Oval. Congratulations to Nathan Crawford on making his A Grade debut! B3 v Pooraka @ Pooraka... LO6 don't have a game due to a forfeit U18 are finished for the season, unfortunately not making finals

13.01.2022 Weekend Results A3: Taking confidence from last weeks outright victory against the top side, the boys continued with the good form, dismissing Gepps Cross for just 86. Kalindu de Silva was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 4 wickets and also throwing accurately to cause a runout. Jacob Markey did the early damage, taking 3 crucial wickets at the start of the innings. The batters then took over from the bowlers, Dave Hamann scoring a quick 56 and Kalindu continuing his great p...erformance with an unbeaten 52 at stumps. Simon Thwaites is also unbeaten on 26, currently part of a 72 run partnership which can hopefully continue for some overs next week. 6/209 at stumps with a 123 run lead. B3: A very similar day 1 to the last game, we batted first and struggled early. A 65 run partnership by Praveen de Silva and Prashant Vaghela steadied the ship a little, Praveen de Silva finishing the day with 72 and Prashant Vaghela 28. We were eventually bowled out for 161. Ingle Farm are 0/23 in reply. LO6: Looking to continue their 3 game winning streak, the morning signs suggested danger when only 9 players were available for the start of play. It was unfortunate as the bowlers bowled well but 2 short in the field means there were always gaps for the Pembroke batsmen to find. Pembroke ended their 40 overs on 236, Max Potts starring with 4 wickets. Unfortunately, the chase was a little too big, finishing 5/185. Zac Stephenson, 59, and Lachy Falco, 52*, both scoring half centuries. U18: An absolute cracker of a match at Grange. We won the toss and batted first on a really good looking deck but unfortunately no one could get going as we stumbled our way to 105. Lachy Falco top scored with 24. Defending a small target, a strong start was needed and Alex van der Haak provided, taking 3 wickets in his first spell and having them 3/3. A Grange partnership was then broken by a Hadi runout before Alex was able to take another 3 wickets in his second spell, finishing the day with 6/13. TA this stage Grange were 7/71 and then 7/96. Wickets to Isaac Jeffery and the Hadi left the score at 9/104. The #11 was able to hit a ball through gulley to seemingly win the game for Grange with a 2 but the umpire called a short run. With scores tied, Isaac Jeffery was able to take the final wicket meaning the game finished in a tie. Full credit to the young lads who never let the game get away and kept at it right to the end.

13.01.2022 "We had a game of cricket on Shell Green on Sunday just to let them see we were quite unconcerned....and when shells whistled by we pretended to field them" Brigadier Granville Ryrie in a letter to his wife, describing how Australians played cricket as a diversionary tactic during preparations for the evacuation at Gallopoli in December, 1915. Luckily, and because of all those who went before us, our cricket games, while sometimes fierce, are played in good spirit with leisu...re and enjoyment at the forefront. May we learn from the lessons of the past. Lest we forget. Lest We Forget

12.01.2022 Game day! It's a little wet to start the season but all games at this stage will be going ahead as scheduled. A Grade v Golden Grove @ Daly Oval, 12:30pm, 1 Dayer.... A young side, all players under 25, two under 18, but with some experience already. All very keen. Congratulations to Don Pubudu who makes his A Grade debut for Hectorville. Good luck to the team and Tyson Soulsby in his first match as skipper. B Grade v Goodwood @ Cabra College, 12:30pm, 1 dayer. C Grade v Grange @ Grange Oval #2, 1pm U18 v Marion @ Marion, 12:30pm Sunday, 1 dayer. Unfortunately we have decided to not play junior's this weekend, instead starting next Sunday. Good luck to everyone involved. Go Gators

12.01.2022 Final day of the season! Unfortunately we won't be playing finals so today is the final day of the season. Hopefully we can finish strong. A's are at home against Pembroke. After a poor batting performance last week, we are looking to get quick wickets so we can bat for as long as possible in the second innings. Bonus points will be crucial. ... B's are away at Pooraka. In a tough position as well chasing 218, we will see if the young lads can dig in and bat the day. The restrictions on events over 500 people doesn't kick in till Monday so you shouldn't have any worries about coming out and supporting. I imagine a few drinks will be had after the games as well.

11.01.2022 Dear Gator Family, Due to Covid and the availability of a location, our AGM has been pushed back a week to Wednesday July 1st, 6:30pm at the Magill Club. Thanks to those who had indicated they were coming tomorrow night. We hope to see your support next week instead. ... On field success begins off the field. #GoGators

11.01.2022 Gator train finally gets the wheels in motion! Won the toss and the Birse and Eckermann show got us off to a hot start with the bat, 30s a piece. Only negative of the day was David Hamann popping his shoulder diving to make a run, all the best mate and we’re having plenty of cruisers in your honour Enter Pravlich (71*) and Rissole (85*) 150 run partnership off not many rocks. Beautiful to watch. Defending 230 off 40 overs. Cob and AVH started tight and had us in a dominant... position before the De Silvas put it beyond doubt with 2 wickets each. Birse closed out and took one. Soulsby had it on a string. They batted out their overs out but were never close - finishing 6 / 185. Congratulations Kalindu Laki de Silva on his 150th Gator wicket. Absolute star, loyal to the club and taken poles bowling pace and spin. Great to see the lads finish the calendar year with a win. Will be taking some confidence into next year

11.01.2022 Weekend Matches A3 v Adelaide Lions @ Gaza B3 v Woodville Rechabites @ Daly Oval... LO6 v Marion @ Norwood Morialta High School U18 v Brighton @ Daly Oval U12 v Glenunga @ Daly Oval U10 v North Pines @ East Torrens Primary School Don't forget quiz night next Saturday!

11.01.2022 C grade make it 2 on the trot! A brilliant 50 made by the man himself Jovan Bojovic !!!! I see it.... but I don't believe it Manek & Wurf contributed with the ball taking 3 wickets each! ... An all round team performance delivers the points. The co-captains very happy tonight

10.01.2022 Celebrate the return of sport in your new car! OK, so we know this raffle seems to be all about footy but at Heccies we have also made it about Netball, Tennis, Cricket & Basketball! Toyota are generously putting up 3 new cars for a raffle where ALL the funds raised come to our club.... Given most sports have been suspended and our club rooms are presently a worksite this represents a much needed fundraising opportunity for Heccies. Tickets are $5 each, and as mentioned the club keeps ALL funds raised. Grab some tickets yourself and pass the link onto friends and family Thanks for supporting Heccies - and good luck! https://toyotagoodforfooty.raffletix.com.au/hectorvillescc

A young side, all players under 25, two under 18, but with some experience already. All very keen. Congratulations to Don Pubudu who makes his A Grade debut for Hectorville. Good luck to everyone involved. Go Gators

09.01.2022 Unfortunately we are on an early break. Hopefully back soon.

09.01.2022 A good start to our seniors season, with 2 out of 3 victories. Good to see some of the new young lads getting in the action. Unfortunately the A grade couldn't get a game up. Our juniors start this weekend but no games for our Saturday senior teams due to the AFL grand final. Training tonight from 5pm @ Daly Oval.... Go Gators!

08.01.2022 New Club Captain Tyson Soulsby previews the year ahead. With senior trainings now Tuesday and Thursdays, the lads are keen for the season start on October 17th. Junior trainings commence Wednesday 7th October with fixtures to be released soon. ... Go Gators!

08.01.2022 Weekend Results A3: Confident after last weeks effort, skipper Will won the toss and elected to bat. It looked like a bad decision early, the team all out for just 116. J Birse continued his current form with a solid 35, R Henriks 31 and K de Silva 27* the only other batters offering any resistance. Adelaide Lions were 2/51 in reply when P de Silva put on a show, claiming 6/12 as we ran through the Lions and dismissed them for just 75. Congratulations to A van der Haak on cla...iming your first A Grade wicket. . B3: Batting first as well, the B’s were shaky early at 4/40 before S Thwaites (46) and L Falco (29) came together for a very solid 45 run partnership. Unfortunately, the team couldn’t build on from there, eventually all out for 150. Woodville Rechabites are 0/28 in reply. LO6: A game Nathan Carlier will remember for a long time! His hatrick helping us dismiss Marion for 99 (and what a hatrick maybe the first to include a ‘hit wicket’ as part of the three wickets!) The batters chasing it down with just the loss of 3 wickets, Lessing, Stephenson, Bojavic and Hynes-Bishop all scoring 20+ U18: Sent in to bowl against Brighton and to their credit bowled very disciplined all day. J Newman took our first two wickets of the day and finished 2/31 off 8. Brighton ended the day 8/200 and only hit 9 boundaries the entire day. S Channa 2/34 off 14 and Hadi 1/22 off 14. In a good position to chase the runs next weekend

07.01.2022 Thank you to all those who showed up over the last few days. Your support, enthusiasm and muscles are so greatly appreciated. (You know who are.) Cheers especially to so many of our new members for your help too! Here’s to 2020, our new club rooms and a really exciting future for our already fantastic club. #proudtobehscc #playthehecciesway

07.01.2022 Unfortunately the weather today is anti-cricket and it looks as though training for the junior's will have to be postponed. However, we ask that all players, parents and families still attend at 5 o'clock under the old grandstand structure to finalise registrations and have the coaches go through information for the season. Go Gators

03.01.2022 All teams playing this weekend. Please note the change of venue of the C Grade on Saturday due to building works at Norwood Morialta High School. Thanks to Pulteney Grammar School for allowing us use of one of their ovals on short notice. Good luck to Don Pubudu and Tommy Ahern who make their A Grade debuts this week! And good luck to the following players with their approaching milestones:... Sartaj Singh - 50 games Kalindu de Silva - 150 wickets (currently 145) Patrick Ritchie - 50 wickets (currently 46) Lets hope the rain stays away this weekend. Good for the gardens but it would be nice to get some cricket happening. Go Gators!

02.01.2022 Congratulations to Alex Moulds and Balhaar Singh who both make their A Grade debut this week. Another example of the young talent we have coming through. Good luck to the team and Laki de Silva who has the captaincy role this week in Tyson's absence. Congratulations also to Patrick Ritchie who claimed his 50th Hectorville wicket last week. His early form with the ball has lured his brother Sam out of retirement. If Patrick can score 84 runs he will also reach the 3000 run mil...estone. Unfortunately we have had to forfeit our C grade match this week due to a combination of untimely events. A full roster of Sunday games, both U14's and U18's at Daly Oval, the U10's just up the road at NMHS. Go Gators!

02.01.2022 We would like to wish all Gator members, families, supporters and followers a very merry Christmas and a relaxing break. Enjoy the sunshine, enjoy time spent with family and friends and enjoy the festivities. And enjoy the fact that, no matter what happens for the remainder of the summer of cricket, India were bowled out for 36 (they must have been watching too many Hectoriville highlights). But while you enjoy this time of year, keep an eye on yourself and others. This tim...e of year isn't always festive for everyone, this year especially has been tough for many. So make sure you are doing ok. And if you do need to reach out, feel confident to do so. You can drop us a message on here or at [email protected] and a leader will get in contact with you. Or contact any of the organisations below for more professional help. If you are doing ok, keep an eye out for others. If someone reaches out to you, stop and listen, it might be all they need. Merry Christmas, stay safe and we'll see you all out at training Jan 5th. Go Gators
