25.01.2022 We genuflect in adoration acknowledging the real presence of the Lord in the Tabernacle. Before the altar, we bow profoundly out of respect for the Table of the Lord. CCC 1378 " In the liturgy of the Mass we express our faith in the real presence of Christ under the species of bread and wine by, among other ways, genuflecting or bowing deeply as a sign of adoration of the Lord. "... Let us not hesitate in showing our reverence before the Altar and the Tabernacale. Don't be shy and in a hurry. We are in the house of the Lord and God is present. Philippians 2:10-11 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Genuflect, bow and kneel as a sign of humility and respect to our King.

23.01.2022 A woman arrived at the Gates of Heaven. While she was waiting for Saint Peter to greet her, she peeked through the gates and saw a beautiful banquet table. Sitting all around were her parents and all the other people she had loved and who had died before her. They saw her and began calling greetings to her, Peter came by, the woman said to him, "Hello. How are you! We've been waiting for you! Good to see you."... Well Saint Peter ! "This is such a wonderful place! How do I get in?" "You have to spell a word," Saint Peter told her. "Which word?" the woman asked. "Love." The woman correctly spelled "Love" and Saint Peter welcomed her into Heaven. About a year later, Saint Peter came to the woman and asked her to watch the Gates of Heaven for him that day. While the woman was guarding the Gates of Heaven, her husband arrived. "I'm surprised to see you," the woman said. "How have you been?" "Oh, I've been doing pretty well since you died," her husband told her. "I married the beautiful young nurse who took care of you while you were ill. And then I won the multi-state lottery. I sold the little house you and I lived in and bought a huge mansion. And my wife and I traveled all around the world. We were on vacation in Cancun and I went water skiing today. I fell and hit my head, and here I am. What a bummer! How do I get in?" "You have to spell a word," the woman told him. "Which word?" her husband asked. "Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis", she replied. Moral of the story: Never make a woman angry . . . there will be a Hell to pay! NB: The longest word currently listed in the Oxford dictionary is the supposed lung-disease pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis (45 letters). Now you've learned a new word!!

22.01.2022 * GOD'S WORD * *22nd September, Tuesday* *FIRST READING*... Various sayings. A reading from the Book of Proverbs (Proverbs 21:1-6.10-13) The kings heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will. Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the heart. To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. Haughty eyes and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, are sin. The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but every one who is hasty comes only to want. The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a fleeing vapour and a snare of death. The soul of the wicked desires evil; his neighbour finds no mercy in his eyes. When a scoffer is punished, the simple becomes wise; when a wise man is instructed, he gains knowledge. The righteous observes the house of the nicked; the wicked are cast down to ruin. He who closes his ear to the cry of the poor will himself cry out and not be heard. _______________________________________ *RESPONSORIAL PSALM* Psalm 119:1.27.30.34.35.44 (R. 35a) *R/. Guide me, Lord, in the path of your commands.* Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord! *R.* Make me grasp the way of your precepts, and I will ponder your wonders. *R.* I have chosen the way of faithfulness; your decrees I have upheld. *R.* Grant me insight that I may keep your law, and observe it wholeheartedly. *R.* Guide me in the path of your commands; for in them is my delight. *R.* I shall always keep your law, forever and ever. *R.* _______________________________________ *ALLELUIA* Luke I 1:28 Alleluia. Blessed are those who hear the word of God, and keep it. Alleluia. _______________________________________ *GOSPEL* My mother and my brethren are those who hear the word of God and do it. A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke (Luke 8: 19-21) At that time: His mother and his brethren came to Jesus, but they could not reach him for the crowd. And he was told, Your mother and your brethren are standing outside, desiring to see you. But he said to them, My mother and my brethren are those who hear the word of God and do it. **************************************** *Have a Blessed Day* **************************************** *Todays Reflection* In the gospel of today, the Lord calls us his mothers, brothers and sisters; he chose us as members of his family beyond and above the blood tie. What binds us to him is hearing the word and putting it into practice. But for us to live out the word, we must be open to it with sincerity, obedience and love. These are qualities that shine out in the mother of Jesus who was the first to hear the word and keep it.

21.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW THAT THE 12 SONS OF JACOB IS A MYSTERY OF CHRIST Jacob had twelve sons and their names put together is the hidden gospel revealed through it. It's amazing how God hid all these wonderful truths in simple names and stories. Here are the names and their meanings: Reuben Behold, A Son is born to us... Simon One who hears Levi - Attached Judah Praise the Lord Dan He judged Naphtali My Struggle Gad Good fortune Asher Happiness Issachar - Reward Zebulun - Honour Joseph Add to my family Benjamin Son of righteousness This is what it says: BEHOLD, A SON IS BORN TO US, ONE WHO HEARS US AND WHO IS ATTACHED TO US. PRAISE THE LORD, HE JUDGED OUR STRUGGLE AND BROUGHT US GOOD FORTUNE, HAPPINESS, REWARD, HONOUR; HE ADDED US TO HIS FAMILY AND CALLED US SONS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS. This completely blew off my mind. Jesus Christ is not just a mere name that is mentioned in sermons, He is the content, the context, the text, paragraph, remark, the mark and the outline of the entire Bible. WOW, how awesome is our God... Therefore; Cultivate the habit of talking to the Lord when you can... during the day at work and at home.... Continually petition Him for help, for light, for strength, for knowledge. Let every breath be a prayer so God can be in every part or every hour of your day... Amen

20.01.2022 *The Parable of the Coffee Bottle* __________________________ A young couple had neighbours who were senior citizens, the husband around 80 years old, and the wife about 5 years younger. ... The young couple were very fond of the elderly couple and made it a point to visit them and have coffee with them every Sunday. They observed that the old lady would bring the coffee bottle to her husband to be opened, every time. The thoughtful young man gifted the lady a gadget, without her husbands knowledge, to easily open the bottle, and showed her how to use it. On their next visit, the old lady once again brought the bottle for her husband to open! The young couple was amazed! Had she forgotten about the gadget?! When the opportunity arose to be alone with the old lady, they quizzed her about this. Her reply made them speechless...... She said: "Oh, I can open the bottle myself, even without your gadget! But I get him to open it so he feels he is still stronger than I am and thus the man of our home.......that he remains useful to me as always; that I still depend on him; that togetherness is the main ingredient of any marriage....we don't have many more years of life in us, and togetherness is of utmost importance......" *Moral*: Never underestimate the wisdom of the elderly. Our parents/grandparents may not be bringing in money any longer, but their guidance alone is priceless. You may have a fruitless tree in your garden, but at least it gives you shade......you will not cut it off... Looking after the elderly and infirm should be looked upon as a *blessing*.

16.01.2022 COVID-19 Christmas 2020 Will there be no Christmas? ... Of course there will be one! Quieter and deeper, more like the first Christmas, when Jesus was born, without so many lights on the earth but with the star of Bethlehem, with intermittent roads of life in its immensity. No impressive royal parades, but the humility of the shepherds in search of the Truth. Without great banquets, but with the presence of an almighty God. Will there be no Christmas? Of course there will be one! Without the streets full of people, but with the heart burning for the One who comes. No noise or fanfare, protests and grievances ... But living the Mystery without fear of Covid-Herod, which claims to take away the dream of waiting. There will be Christmas because God-is-with-us. And we will share, as Christ did in the manger, our poverty, our trial, our tears, our anguish and our condition as orphans. There will be Christmas because we need this divine light in the midst of so much darkness. Covid-19 cannot reach the hearts and souls of those who place their hope and their ideal in heaven. Of course there will be Christmas! And we will sing Christmas carols ..... and God will be born ..... and set us free. BEAUTIFULAAAAA It was written by Father Javier Loez, a priest from Pamplona in Spain, with whom Pope Francis congratulated on the phone for the text. Let's share it with them too

16.01.2022 TODAY IS RED WEDNESDAY Red Wednesday is a day to gather to draw attention to the plight of those who are persecuted and oppressed for their religious beliefs. C...athedrals, churches and public buildings around the world will light up in red to show solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Christ. Red Wednesday is an initiative of Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), a Catholic charity dedicated to the support of suffering and persecuted Christians. In Australia, Red Wednesday will take place on the 25 November however some places will host Red Wednesday events throughout the week. It is clear that the persecution of Christians is worse today than at any time in history. In terms of the number of people involved, the gravity of the acts committed, and their impact, not only are Christians more persecuted than any other faith group, but ever-increasing numbers are experiencing the worst forms of persecution. The purpose of Red Wednesday is to join together and raise a strong voice in support of the persecuted who are unable to speak freely, and who look to us - their brothers and sisters in Christ - to speak on their behalf. How to get involved?... Dress: Wear something red, or a red ribbon, on Wednesday 25 November to raise awareness of those persecuted for their faith. Take a photo of yourself wearing red and share it on social media with the hashtag #RedWednesday Source: Aid to the Church in Need Australia #RedWednesday

11.01.2022 HOW TO BECOME A SAINT : A 13-Step Guide, written by the ‘Little Flower’ herself ALL SAINTS ARE HOLY HUMANS There have been many holy men and women who have go...ne before us and who have modeled this path to holiness for us. Their stories are inspiring. Their lives are exemplary. Yet we too often place them on a pedestal so high above us real people that of course we feel discouraged about ever following in their footsteps. But these saints haven’t done anything new or extravagant, they have simply followed what Jesus taught and sought to be like Him. St. Francis of Assisi lived in poverty and prayer, seeking always to be more humble. Some thought he was crazy, because he took Christ’s teaching so literally. But for him that is exactly what a Christian was called to do. St. Thérèse of Lisieux who like a child with humility and love became one of the most popular saints of our day. And it is from her childlike, yet profound wisdom found in her auto-biography The Story of a Soul that I have compiled the following list. 13 STEPS TO BECOMING A SAINT 1. DEPEND ON GOD’S GRACE This is number one for a reason. If you think you are going to become a saint, to make it to Heaven, of your own effort, you have failed already. It through His free gifts to you that you will become more holy, more like Him. It is He alone Who, pleased with my feeble efforts, will raise me to Himself, and, by clothing me with His merits, make me a Saint. The knowledge that it was impossible to do anything of myself rendered my task easier. If an artist’s canvas could but think and speak, surely it would never complain of being touched and re-touched by the brush, nor would it feel envious thereof, knowing that all its beauty is due to the artist alone. Give God the glory for everything that you do. Your talents, your abilities, your gifts, are exactly that gifts. Thank Him for all that He has given you and continue to depend on Him for more. 2. START SMALL I made mine consist in simply checking my inclinations, keeping back an impatient answer, doing little services to those around me without setting store thereby, and a hundred other things of the kind. This is what Thérèse is known for, her Little Way. She didn’t perform any extraordinary things in her life, but rather made simple, small acts of kindness and love towards God and others. This is something that in its simplicity is often overlooked. 3. DON’T LOSE HOPE I have never heard Him speak, yet I know He is within me. It is easy to lose hope in the times when you feel that God is so far away. Thérèse also went through periods of spiritual darkness where she felt distant from God, but she never lost hope. 4. ACCEPT TRIALS & SUFFERING I had to pass through many trials before reaching the haven of peace, before tasting the delicious fruits of perfect love and of complete abandonment to God’s will. Suffering is often seen as punishment, but in fact is a method of teaching that God can use to help us grow, which is the desire of any parent for their children, that they be the best they can be. 5. HAVE NO FEAR A soul in the state of grace has nothing to fear from the devil, who is a coward, and will even fly from the gaze of a little child. Thérèse’s bold statement reminds how weak the devil is against us when we are pure at heart. 6. PUT GOD’S WILL ABOVE YOUR OWN The biggest battle of Jesus’ life was in the Garden of Gethsemane. Putting God’s will first is a difficult thing to do, especially when it puts you in danger. My God, I choose everything, I will not be a Saint by halves, I am not afraid of suffering for Thee, I only fear one thing, and that is to do my own will. He has always given me what I desired, or rather He has made me desire what He wishes to give. 7. BE WILLING TO FAIL O happy failure, from how many evils have you saved me! In a self-centered culture that measures personal value by material success, it can be difficult to accept failure and ask for help. But sometimes you need to fail so that you can learn that you can’t do it on your own and must depend on God. 8. STEP OUTSIDE OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE I ought to seek the companionship of those Sisters towards whom I feel a natural aversion, and try to be their good Samaritan. A word or a smile is often enough to put fresh life in a despondent soul. In going out of your way to live the Gospel, to love others, you will grow closer to God by challenging yourself to be fully alive. 9. READ THE BIBLE I have only to open the Holy Gospels and at once I breathe the perfume of Jesus, and then I know which way to run. The Sacred Scriptures are a gift from God through which he reveals Himself and tells you His love story. All you have to do is open the Bible and delve deep into His Word. 10. RECEIVE THE HOLY EUCHARIST DAILY He does not come down from Heaven each day in order to remain in a golden ciborium, but to find another Heaventhe Heaven of our souls in which He takes such delight. Thérèse delighted in the pleasure of receiving Jesus in the Eucharist every day. If you truly believe that Jesus is present in the Eucharist, then why not be united with every chance you get? 11. LEARN TO LOVE I know when I show charity to others, it is simply Jesus acting in me, and the more closely I am united to Him, the more dearly I love my Sisters. My vocation is love! To love Thee, Jesus, is now my only desire. Every time you love others you are sharing Christ’s love with them. That’s authentic evangelization that is the result of true faith. 12. BE OPEN TO GOD’S GUIDANCE We must forget ourselves, and put aside our tastes and ideas, and guide souls not by our own way, but along the path which Our Lord points out. In other words, if you want to be Christian, a saint, then check your ego at the door. It’s all about God, not you. 13. PRAY , PRAY , PRAY Verily in prayer and sacrifice lies all my strength, they are my invincible arms; experience has taught me that they touch hearts far more easily than words. How wonderful is the power of prayer! It is like unto a queen, who, having free access to the king, obtains whatsoever she asks. With me prayer is an uplifting of the heart; a glance towards heaven; a cry of gratitude and love, uttered equally in sorrow and in joy. In a word, it is something noble, supernatural, which expands my soul and unites it to God. Thérèse explains that, like most saints, her power comes from her time spent in prayer. For her prayer became second nature and she didn’t look at it as an obligation but as a natural extension of her relationship with God. What does prayer mean to you? DO YOU WANT TO BE A SAINT ? A saint is someone who has made it to Heaven. So of course if you want to make it to Heaven, that means that you want to be a saint. You want to be with God, His saints, and His angels in His love forever in eternity. Jesus, Jesus! If the mere desire of Thy Love awakens such delight, what will it be to possess it, to enjoy it for ever? Becoming a saint requires work just like anything else in life. If you want to lose weight you are willing to eat healthy and exercise. If you want to have a family you are willing sacrifice your time, your body, and money to have children. But why when it comes to God are you so much less willing to make sacrifices? You can learn more about the life of the Little Flower St. Thérèse of Lisieux in her auto- biography The Story of a Soul From online sources

11.01.2022 33rd Ordinary Sunday Year A Sunday Bulletin 15th November 2020

10.01.2022 TODAY IS THE FEAST OF ST ANDREW THE APOSTLE St. Andrew, also known as Andrew the Apostle, was a Christian Apostle and the older brother to St. Peter. Per Christ...ian tradition and after the ascension of Christ, Andrew went on to preach the Good News around the shores of the Black Sea and throughout what is now Greece and Turkey. Andrew was martyred by crucifixion in Patras. He was bound, rather than nailed, to a cross, as is described in the Acts of Andrew. He was crucified on a cross form known as "crux decussata," which is an X-shaped cross or a "saltire." Today this is commonly referred to as "St. Andrew's Cross." It is believed Andrew requested to be crucified this way, because he deemed himself "unworthy to be crucified on the same type of cross as Jesus." St. Andrew is the patron saint of fishermen and singers. He is also the patron saint to several countries and cities including: Scotland, Romania, Russia, Ukraine and Patras and his feast day is celebrated on November 30.
