24.01.2022 Please put some water out today in a shallow plastic, glass or ceramic container somewhere in the shade for the birds.

20.01.2022 Our native animals should be protected from mining as much as possible and rehabilitated when they are injured as a result of mining and human activity. Withou...t Pilbara Wildlife Carers Association Inc. 1500 native animals would die or be put down every year including threatened and endangered species. New mines are given approval where there is known habitat for endangered northern quolls, grey falcons and leaf nose bats, yet the WA Government and mining companies do not seem to care. Mining development are pushing wildlife out of their homes and into danger, so miners and the WA Government should be funding this hospital. PCWA’s wildlife hospital would provide wildlife rehab not just for the Pilbara, but for the whole of WA, while also providing a state of the art training centre for aspiring vets, vet nurses and wildlife carers, as well as Indigenous rangers and First Nations people who want to work in the field. To me, this is a no-brainer project. Let’s get it done! Anyone interested please contact PWCA. Article courtesy of North West Telegraph Attn: Rio Tinto

19.01.2022 Today marks a special day for the Animal Poisons Helpline, one year since we switched on the phones. Since then, the Helpline has assisted over 6,000 poisoned... pets from all over Australia and New Zealand, no doubt saving countless precious lives. The number of pet owners contacting the Helpline each month has increased by nearly 300% from the beginning of the year, a clear testament to the necessity of this important service. 2020 has been a challenging year for many, and for the Helpline it would not have been possible without the support of the pet loving community and our platinum sponsors, Bow Wow Meow Pet Insurance (Bow Wow Meow for Pets) and Hill's Pet Nutrition (Hill’s Pet Nutrition). In 2021, we look forward to continuing to provide rapid, up-to-date, and evidence-based free poisoning advice to pet owners in Australia and New Zealand!

10.01.2022 From 1955-1957 the Agriculture Protection Board of Western Australia ran experiments where they laced water sources with 1080 poison to slaughter wallabies. This campaign of killing macropods was started in 1952 to appease the local graziers who were complaining about the native grazing animals that were eating the grasses they had intended for their livestock. Ironically, the proliferation of native grazers such as the wallabies was no doubt as a result of the graziers slaug...htering the local dingoes, who would normally be regulating their numbers.
