06.01.2022 We here at the SES try to remain positive in the face of adversity. However, this morning we can not hold our frustration, despair and anger back. A MESS, as the unit had been ransacked........laptops, operations digital display screens, TVs, vacuum cleaners, data projector and much more have been stole...n. So not only do the Volunteers arrive pumped up to be able to go an assist someone but they get SLAPPED in the face with frustration and despair when greeted by someones X@#$%$# mess that destroys their hard work. So if anyone has ANY information they think relevant please contact South Hedland Police ABC Pilbara North West Telegraph Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA #steal #theft #stolen #frustrated

06.01.2022 2019/20 Tropical Cyclone Seasonal Outlook The Bureau of Meteorology has today issued its Tropical Cyclone outlook for the upcoming cyclone season. Brad Santos, the Acting Manager of Weather Services at the Bureau of Meteorology told stakeholders at the first presentation this morning in Port Hedland, that the modelling is showing a below average number of tropical cyclones are expected.... He said however "while there are only two or three cyclones predicted for the region, it only takes one severe cyclone for it to have a significant impact." The Bureau have warned residents across the Pilbara not to be complacent. Mr Santos also said, "the number of cyclones doesnt indicate just how extensive rainfall can be across northern WA and residents should prepare now and remain vigilant throughout the season." SES Note - Similar forecast to last year and then along came Veronica - Please start preparing now and make sure you have a clear plan.

02.01.2022 Evening Hedlanders, Well we surmise that you dont need to be made aware that not only are we in cyclone season but we have a potential one developing off the NW coast with BoM predicting a potential coastal crossing sometime next week. Sssoooo, we are also assuming that you dont need to be asked to make sure you have tidied up your yards and blocks and secured anything that can become an airborne missile because your all over it right???, and that all of you have alr...eady prepared your emergency kit because you read our boxing day post on emergency kits right??? Well, if you have done all that its a big thumbs up from ushowever.if you havent, then might we suggest you take the time this weekend to ensure that you have, because your not only going to save yourself some misery but you will also ensure that sheet of iron or unsecured outdoor furniture doesnt turn into a missile and create some misery for your neighbour. So lets ALL do the right thing, pitch in and make our properties cyclone ready.
