25.01.2022 We always recommend getting creative with your toys. If you use your imagination (or even better, get your kids to use theirs) then a block doesnt just have to be a block. We recently had these stacking blocks, and while stacking them was fun they are getting a little fragile so I wanted some gentler ways to play (Because stacking always leads to crashing). I got my kids to show me all the animals on red backgrounds, we named the animals (and researched a few we didnt know), we put all the farm animals together, we used them to hide some of our plastic animals... hours of fun were had with this simple toy. So come back to the toy library and look at some of those toys youve had a few times with new eyes. Maybe some out of the box thinking will help you get more from your membership!
24.01.2022 We are open today from 9 till 11 am
23.01.2022 Hello Everyone, we are closed today. We are sorry.
22.01.2022 Did you know we have fancy cake baking trays you can hire? Well now you do . Why not check out the full range next time youre in the toy library?
21.01.2022 Musical toys are great for your baby! (Dont believe me? The internet says so so it must be true https://cleverstuff.com.au//5-benefits-of-musical-toys-for). This little toy is one of my favourites. It has a lot of different musical sounds in one, is sturdy and compact and such bright colours too. The benefit of borrowing a musical toy from the toy library is that you only have to put up with it for a week or two! So why not stop in today and get a musical toy for your boy (or girl, but boy rhymed better).
21.01.2022 How cute is this clock toy? It makes lots of nice noises and could be a great way to introduce your little one to telling the time. Great for using with older kids too! Weve got lots of fun and educational toys at the toy library so if you havent come by in a while wed love to see you.

18.01.2022 Who doesnt love a good camera? This little beauty is nice and sturdy, easy for small hands to hold. Has bright colours, makes some nice noises and is available to borrow from your toy library. Its hard to buy older toys like this one so utilise your membership and borrow it and let your little photographer shine!

15.01.2022 Sundays fundraiser with SAFE at the Heddy cup saw us realise $820+ for the day. That combined with the $ match for the day from Racing WA will see each community group receive in total $820+each for the day. A huge thanks goes out to the PHTC for their support in this , and in particular Trish Barron and Jane Kelman. Thanks Ladies.... The volunteers from the Toy Library and SAFE, Without you wonderful people it would not have happened! Also to a couple of helpers who are not even part of either group, Brian and Malcolm. A huge thanks to Rob Green and Paul Ferreira who have made the use of the CFMEU BBQ trailer available. Also their donation of $50 for each of the two events. Further to this, our local MLC Steven Dawson who has kindly donated for each event as well. Thanks Steven. These kind donations and support allows these community groups to purchase products to utilise in BBQs, and helps us reduce costs. Also we cant forget you the community who purchased or products.... Cheers. Please share the heck out of this so people know we are there and we truly appreciate the help from all.
12.01.2022 You didnt come here to hear me ramble on about my love for puzzles (or did you ). I love puzzles, I spent so much quality time with my own mum doing puzzles and they are one of my favourite quiet time activities to do with my kids. While we puzzle we talk about our days while our hands are busy. Theres plenty of benefits for younger kids too (https://teach.com//the-benefits-of-puzzles-in-early-child/). So why not pick up a puzzle yourself next time youre at the toy library?
12.01.2022 Do you let YouTube entertain your kids a little too often? (guilty ). Do you get frustrated when your kids ask you to play with them (guilty again ). Weve been trying to encourage independent play in our household (http://peacefulparentsconfidentkids.com//encouraging-inde/) Theres some great toys at the toy library that can help you out with this. My little boy played for hours on his own with some Thomas trains, creating little stories with the farm animals we got (they seemed to keep wandering on the tracks )
11.01.2022 Hi Everyone, we are open this Saturday from 9 to 11.

10.01.2022 Do you often look at our dress-up clothes and think "When would my kids ever wear that?" Why not have a special dinner dress up night? Get everyone in the family involved (even you mum, you can do it). Make sure you pick a meal that isnt going to cause any mess and then make some family memories. If youre really crazy maybe you could make some food to match ....
10.01.2022 I must confess to enjoying this little toy more than my children (you know what they say about simple minds right?). This little guy with his bright eyes is just so engaging, the colours are cheerful and all the different bugs you can make by turning the legs are great. Its such a simple no fuss puzzle that even your youngest could play with. So if they toy library has managed to pry him back from my simple hands, keep your eye out for him when you pop in today. Maybe he will become your favourite toy too!
09.01.2022 Just a reminder that Toy Library hours will be interrupted Saturday 20th July due to a Committee members Meeting. We will be open 10am-11am for loans and returns Usual opening hours will resume 27th July.
09.01.2022 Hi Everyone, We are open tomorrow from 9 till 11am:)
08.01.2022 Couple of things we have done over the last month to raise funds for HTL: Community Breakfast with Hai and a Christmas Party at the airport. Both were a great opportunity for HTL to show what we are all about.
08.01.2022 Why buy a costume when you can hire one from your local toy library. We have loads of costumes for book week. Lots of assorted styles and sizes. Pop in and see us at lotteries house tomorrow 9-11am
07.01.2022 HELLO EVERYONE, TOY LIBRARY IS CLOSED THIS SATURDAY 4 JULY DUE TO LACK OF VOLUNTEERS. WE WILL BE OPEN NEXT SATURDAY 11 JULY FROM 9 TO 11.
07.01.2022 Does the thought of borrowing one of our beautiful puzzles terrify you? I know Im scared of losing pieces while a puzzle is in my house. We combat this by keeping puzzles as "Special Toys". While they are with us they live on a shelf the kids cant reach and we get them out for together time. Once the puzzle is done all the pieces are counted and put back in the bag. Dont be scared of puzzles! Your kids might give you some amazing insights or conversations while you do them together. Why not borrow one when you visit us this Saturday?
06.01.2022 I love Orchid Games. They are so bright, educational, creative, cleaver and often times simple. What I love even more is that the toy library has a number of these games I can borrow, because they are quite expensive, and honestly the replay value on them over a long period of time arent great. We can borrow one, play it a few times over the week and then return it. The next time we get the game my kids are actually excited to play it (rather than all the ones we have at ...home gathering dust because they can play them anytime . Why not pay the games rack a visit yourself next time youre in the library? Maybe youll find a new family favourite - at least for this week anyway.
06.01.2022 Hello Everyone, we are happy to announce that Toy Library will be open tomorrow from 9 to 11am. However the bouncy castles are not for hire yet did to current COVID 19 restrictions.
06.01.2022 Save money and help the environment, all while keeping the kids occupied. Your local Toy Library have a range of membership options to suit every budget and level of community commitment.
06.01.2022 Ahh the Pilbarra, youve got to love it. The sun is so hot it will turn you brown (or an unfortunate shade of pink) within minutes, the heat is so intense an egg can fry on the pavement, and the water from the taps is so hard you could almost walk on it (please dont attempt to walk on it!). All of these conditions are hard on us, but also our outdoor toys. Some of the best ways to extend the life of our outdoor toys is to keep them out of direct sunlight (even indoors when ...not in use), make sure water in water tables is not left for long amounts of time, and to be mindful of how some toys might react to heat. We want our toys to be their best for as long as possible - replacements come at quite a cost up here in the middle of nowhere.
06.01.2022 We are open tomorrow 9-11am. Pop down and see us and swap over those toys
06.01.2022 Show us your pics!!! We would love to see pictures of your kidlets enjoying their latest hires from the Toy Library. This is Neave and her Poppa enjoying the little tikes trike from the library.
05.01.2022 We Still need volunteers for opening days. We are struggling to find people to help. As you are aware your local toy Library can not open if we dont get the help we need. We would really appreciate people taking the time to roster themselves on. We are still desperate for volunteers for the next 4 Saturdays. That is the 17, 24, 31 August and 7th September. If you are having trouble accessing the Mibase website please let us know. If you are not an active member and are available to help let us know.
04.01.2022 Have you got any of our toys that you are loving? Why not snap a quick pick and share your own review below?

04.01.2022 You know how mirrors are great for babies? And how high colour/contrast toys are great for babies? (If you didnt know these things check this link out https://www.unitypoint.org/livewell/article.aspx) This is the toy for you. Its got mirrors, its got high contrast colours, its got soft, padded, easy clean sides. You can change out the pictures if youre not a fan of angry cat, and its (sometimes) available at your toy library. 03.01.2022 There was National Child Protection Week celebration yesterday at South Hedland Town Square. All kids attended had really great fun on one of our bouncy castles.:) A big thank you to Department of Child Protection and MacKillop Family Services for organising the event.
03.01.2022 Did you know today is a really special day? THE TOY LIBRARY WILL BE OPEN Also February 29th only happens once every 4 years. ... Why not celebrate the leap year by leaping on down to the toy library? Maybe you could hire some bean bags to play leapfrog games. Im also positive one or more of the games on these racks could give you some leap-speration .
03.01.2022 We are having a Sausage Sizzle fundraiser. Today at the port Hedland Turf club. 12-3pm so come and get sausage and support your Local Toy Library
02.01.2022 Contrary to what some people might say (Looking at you Stu) the toy library isnt just for babies. Weve got a great range of toys, games and puzzles that older kids will enjoy too (though I know my older kids love to sneakily play with the baby toys too). Weve got quite a few science and discovery toys, like this awesome actual working microscope that kept my kids interested for a good few hours (once we figured out how to get it working of course, thanks dad). So if youve got some older kids, why not bring them to the toy library? Maybe they will be inspired to play again too!
01.01.2022 Have you ever wondered whats in the large cardboard box that sometimes can be found in the second toy room? Wonder no more because Im going to tell you! Tubelox. Yep. What a silly name amiright? But not a silly idea. My boys had so much fun building and constructing with these tubes with daddy. There are a number of interesting things to build (the instructions arent always great but you can generally figure it out). So if you dont mind the bulk and want some quality construction time with your kids why not keep your eye out for this beauty on your next visit?
01.01.2022 Hello Everyone Toy Library will be closed this Saturday due to long weekend. We will reopen next Saturday 8th August from 9 till 11am.
