18.01.2022 Kidney in TCM Having a strong Kidney energy is the foundation of good health, growth, development and reproduction. Stored in our kidney’s, is our pre-natal qi, this is what we inherited from our parents, it is our life force that we have from time of conception. This declines naturally as we age, hence why certain conditions are more prevalent as you age. As we receive our energy from nutritious food and water, having adequate rest and fresh air. Kidney energy can also di...minish more quickly due to poor lifestyle choices, poor diet, working long hours, especially shift work, stressful situations, and excess stress on the body’s systems. According to TCM, the Kidney is considered the powerhouse of the body, sending this reserve energy out to the body when needed, like a back-up battery. Using too much of this reserve energy throughout your life, can lead to conditions generally associated with old age, ie frequent urination, sore joints, grey hair, deafness. As we understand, the kidneys function is to regulate the body fluids. In Chinese medicine, the Kidney is said to govern all body fluids, ie. tears, saliva, perspiration and the fluids that lubricate the joints. Kidney’s in TCM are also related to the ears and bones, therefore recurrent ear infections, tinnitus, deafness and osteoporosis are associated with a weakness in kidney energy. In TCM, each organ has a related emotion, for the kidney it is fear. If you are too fearful or alternatively have no fear, it can relate to an imbalance in kidney energy. The foods that help support the kidney’s health are usually salty in nature, seafoods, beans or bone broths. SUPPORTING YOUR KIDNEY *Bone broths, beans and salty foods. * Reflexology/massaging your own feet, to stimulate kidney energy as the kidney channel starts in the sole of the feet. I like to take my shoes of and feel grounded, my kids and I stomp our feet and dance around bare foot to stimulate our kidney energy. * Rub your ears, as they are connected to the kidney’s * Conserve your energy by resting when tired and sleeping at appropriate times. No shift work or late nights on the computer if you can help it. #tcmkidney #tcm #acuhealth See more

09.01.2022 Dandelion Tea Dandelion tea made from the roots of the dandelion, once roasted and grinded up, it resembles coffee. It is a great substitute for coffee, if you are trying to limit your coffee intake, but love the taste of coffee, give this a try? It is also packed full of the anti-aging antioxidants like coffee and is rich in vitamins and minerals, including Vit B and C as well as Calcium, Potassium, Magnesium, Zinc and Iron. Dandelion tea also has a detoxification functio...n and can act as a natural diuretic, as it purifies the blood, cleansing the liver and kidney in the process. It is also said to help aid digestion, reduce bloating and clear you skin. In TCM, we value the dandelion tea to help with liver disharmonies. Give it a try and let me know your thoughts? #dandeliontea #tcmfoodasmedicine #tcm #acuhealthacupuncture #acupuncture See more

04.01.2022 Magic Bean Chocolate Cake. (GF/DF/Soy Free/Nut Free, can be Egg Free) DISCLAIMER: This is NOT my recipe, it is amazing and one of my favourites from the thermomix community. I have made this previously without a thermomix, I just used my food processor, or a stick blender or beaters will work too. I have made this cake with various different beans and even once with chickpeas, as we have someone in our family that is allergic to beans. It turned out great and tasted the sam...e to me. It is a great base recipe and I make modifications without too much hassle easily. I have also made it egg free for the kids kindy birthday cupcakes, due to other kids allergies. To make it egg free, I replaced the eggs with chia seeds, so the ratio is 1 tablespoon chia seeds to 3 tablespoons water, set aside until it becomes gluggy, then add to mixture. On one occasion, I was in a rush and couldn’t be bothered following the recipes method, so I put it ALL in the thermomix at once and blended, it wasn’t as fluffy, but still pretty damn good. RECIPE 420g can kidney beans, drained and rinsed 1 tablespoon water or coffee 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 5 eggs 125g butter (we use nutulex) 140g rapadura or coconut sugar (we only use just over 100g) 70g raw cocao or cocoa powder 1 teaspoon GF baking powder teaspoon bicarb of soda teaspoon salt METHOD * In your TM puree the beans, water/coffee, 1 egg and vanilla until smooth on speed 7. Set aside. * Without washing the bowl, beat the butter and sugar Speed 5 30 seconds * Add the remaining eggs & beat for 20 seconds SP 4. Add bean mixture SP 4 5 seconds. * Add the cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt and blend SP 4 10 seconds. * Pour batter into greased ring tin pan and bake MOD oven for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. * ENJOY!!! #magicbeanchocolatecake #GF #glutenfree #DF #dairyfree #nutfree #soyfree #deliciouschocolatecake #acuhealthacupuncture See more
