24.01.2022 I love these questions that Helen from The Collaborative Maroubra is asking herself. The first question resonated with me the most. I have to admit I am feeling exhausted and desperately need a change of scenery and routine. The same ole same ole is depleting me of my energy and I need to shake it up. What about you? Which of these questions do you know you need to address? Let me know in the comments below.
24.01.2022 Resilience, Self-Leadership, Courage and Wellbeing. These universal topics have never been more important & I am pleased to see that so many organisations are putting their people first & empowering them with performance-enhancing strategies to ensure they can better deal with these stressful & uncertain times. Lets plan your next #professionaldevelopment program together by following these steps.... 1. Content: Which modules are best for your team? Stress and Burnout: Dont ignore the warning signs Master your Mindset: Recover from setbacks Road to Resilience: Turn pressure into performance Courageous Self-Leadership: During times of change Self-Care: Is a self-protection strategy The Connection Impact: Habits for clarity and optimism 2. Time: How long is your program? I suggest you do these fortnightly or monthly so we can add in an action plan which helps to create behaviour change. 3. Chat: Lets work with your budget. Choose a time for us to go through your draft plan by clicking this link - https://lnkd.in/gHuKjr5 . After our conversation, I will then send you a proposal with two price points that have various fancy-pants inclusions so you can decide on the level of engagement for your team. #resilience #leadership #wellbeing

23.01.2022 The 10th September is R U OK? Day. Its our national day of action when we remind ourselves that every day is the day to ask, Are you OK? if someone in our world is struggling with lifes ups and downs. Sometimes it is hard to approach a friend, a family member or a colleague who we know is not doing so well, but this guide ( https://tinyurl.com/y4b2wyl9 ) from RUOK? is an incredible resource to ensure you can be better prepared for these types of conversations. What is... important for us all to remember is that a conversation can change (or save) a life, so even if it makes us feel a little uncomfortable for a while it is definitely worth persevering. Here are some simple, practical tools that are included in this guide to help you have that conversation: 1. Ask R U OK? e.g. I know theres been some big life changes for you recently. How are you going with that? 2. Listen with an open mind e.g. Dont interrupt or rush the conversation 3. Encourage Action e.g. Is there anything youve tried in the past thats made you feel better when youve felt like this? 4. Check in e.g. I would like to keep checking in with you, is that OK? If you are reading this, my question to you is: I know theres been some big life changes for you recently. How are you going with that? #ruok #mentalhealthmatters #education

20.01.2022 Resilience Insights for HSC students: I remember what its like to feel incredible pressure leading up to the HSC. In fact, I felt so much pressure that I had an itchy rash all over my body for the whole of Year 12 that got so bad I ended up in an emergency room. It didnt stop until I walked out of my last exam. Stress rears its ugly head in all shapes & sizesincluding itchy rashes. If I had only known that to be #resilient enough to cope with the HSC, I would need to look... after my physical, mental & social health a lot more. Having to deal with the 2020 HSC during COVID-19 is a test that none of us can imagine & thats why it is so important we support these students as much as possible. If you know someone doing their HSC this year, please try & encourage them to do the following things each & every day: 1. PHYSICAL HEALTH Go outside for a walk in the fresh air. 2. MENTAL HEALTH Schedule time to unplug from all devices (even just for 20mins) to give the brain a chance to rest & reboot. 3. SOCIAL HEALTH Chat with a friend who will make you laugh out loud. We may all know that the HSC is not the be all & end all, but when you are 17 & have your life in front of you, you really think it is. Lets do whatever it takes to keep their #stress levels down & their spirits high. #education
17.01.2022 There were just under 400 leaders from the financial industry on this webinar of mine last week called Resilience & your Leadership in a Changing World, & 61% of them reported to being either stressed out or burnt out. This is a frightening statistic. We know that a little bit of stress can be motivating, it can challenge us & help us to meet deadlines but what we must become aware of is that tipping point when we start to slide down the slippery slope to burnout. The thing... is, you dont wake up one morning burnt out. Your brain & body will send warning signs to let you know that you are not coping & some of these may include: Care Factor You lose interest in your favourite work projects, podcasts, social catchups or even Netflix. Sleep You struggle to fall asleep & stay asleep. Brain Function You make silly mistakes, forget things or lose concentration easily. Physical Health Tummy troubles, cold sores, headaches or inflammation. Mental Health Cranky, teary, anxious, or depressed. Do you recognise these warning signs when your colleagues are tipping over? Do you recognise them in yourself? Let me know in the comments below what warning sign your body & brain sends to you to let you know that it is time to intervene on yourself before you burn out?
17.01.2022 I have about a dozen habits that I do every single day to ensure I can stay as physically & mentally healthy as possible which helps me to show up each day as a person who I can be proud of. On many occasions I hate having to do them, but I know that what I hate more is the unravelling that occurs when I dont. That is why I have loved reading this book by James Clear called Atomic Habits. What resonated with me most was: ... Your habits matter because they help you become the type of person you wish to be. They are the channel through which you develop your deepest beliefs about yourself. Boom! These 2 sentences have started many conversations over the last few months with the leaders I have been working with. I have been asking them what are the habits they have been incorporating without fail to ensure they are the calm, kind, smart & visionary leaders their teams need right now? Some answers have been: Leading by example & habitually taking a lunch break & encouraging everyone else to do the same Being in service of my team members & habitually reaching out daily for R U OK? conversations Starting team meetings with the habit of expressing something that has gone well in the last 24hrs What do you do daily to ensure you can be the type of person you wish to be?
17.01.2022 Im sure I was Italian in my past life! I cant stop using my hands when I speak! Today I was lucky to be asked by @northcott_aus to present a #resilience webinar to their staff across various roles and leadership levels. What a wonderful organization who prioritize their people and continue to offer professional development so their staff can perform at their best. #professionaldevelopment #education #mentalhealthmatters
17.01.2022 My Insights About Delivering Virtual Keynote Presentations Relevant Content When audiences are watching a keynote from home through their screen, it is so easy to click on a new tab, scroll social media or tackle the inbox. If content is not absolutely relevant to their lives, they will click away in a heartbeat.... Action: Think about what people need most right now. Dont add to the noise, give relevant strategies that can make a difference to someones life. Ridiculous Activities Activities that worked & were fun in a big conference room with hundreds of people all doing it at the same time, DO NOT work in a virtual setting. Noone at home gets off their chair & starts writing their name with their bottoms by themselves! Action: Use your creativity & find new material. Relatable Personality Noone likes a know-it-all or someone who believes that their adversities are the worst, or their 5-point plan is the best or their transformation from broke to successful, overweight to athlete, or illiterate to scholar is the most remarkable. Action: Be human & admit that you are fallible like the rest of us. Id love to hear what you are noticing works & doesnt work when you are watching #keynotespeakers deliver their presentations virtually. #eventleaders #virtualspeakers
16.01.2022 What an idiot! Does he want to live in the dark ages? Why on earth would you start a new players association and not include woman? Makes me mad :(

11.01.2022 Today is #selfcaresunday and it is a good reminder to all of us who are working so hard right now that self-care is NOT selfish. It is actually a self-protection strategy to ensure we are resilient enough to deal with these stressful and uncertain times. This morning Im sitting by the water, writing about something that has really been upsetting me. Im not usually one for journaling. I only ever do it once or twice a year when I need to get all the muddle of thoughts out of... my head so I can look at them with a bit more clarity and less emotion. Writing them down seems to do this. I should actually do it more often. Anyway, I have to say that Im feeling a lot better about this particular thing that has caused tears and sleepless nights and Im glad that Iv gifted myself this time to take care of my mental wellbeing. What are you doing today that makes you feel good and will help you to approach this upcoming week with more #vitality and #focus? Has writing problems down ever helped you? 03.01.2022 Having an Olympic dream postponed is a hard blow when you have sacrificed so much over the last four years (a lifetime) to prepare for it. In this episode of Wine and Wisdom, Sharni and I discussed: 1. How her team, the Rugby Sevens are staying physically and mentally healthy and motivated while they wait for Tokyo to go ahead. 2. If it is harder going into the next Olympics as reigning champions trying to defend a gold medal.... 3. How that first Australian gold medal in 2016 has doubled the number of girls playing rugby in this country. 4. The future of women in sport in Australia. 5. How she inspires young kids to reach their dreams.
