21.01.2022 Here is something to stand for !!!

13.01.2022 We know that current events are creating concern in the community and I just wanted to update you on the hygiene precautions we are taking at the clinic to protect you and your family. **Most importantly we are asking clients with cold and flu symptoms to please reschedule until they have recovered and of course observe 14 days of self-quarantine if they have returned from anywhere overseas.** All our therapists are trained in Infection Control and have also undertaken to se...lf-quarantine if they are experiencing any cold or flu symptoms. On a happier note if you are working from home it might be a good time to get that treatment scheduled and ensure you can keep working productively. Hygiene Precautions :- We are open and have procedures in place to manage risks to keep our community healthy and safe. We will continue to respond to the current global health challenge, and we are taking regular advice from the WHO and the Australian Department of Health. At the Clinic, we have in place procedures to protect you and the clinic. These include: * Regularly cleaning all surfaces including door knobs, frequently touched equipment and bench tops * Washing our hands with soap and water regularly * Keeping all staff informed * Asking people who normally attend with the client to not enter the premises if feasible. * Having hand sanitiser available for clients * Linen is changed on massage tables after each client and any hard surfaces are cleaned between clients. Please contact us at any time on email [email protected] or phone 0407916666. I will keep you updated on any developments or changes to the normal clinic hours.

12.01.2022 The Lymphoedema and Remedial Therapies Clinic is temporarily closed due to the Australian Government COVID-19 social distancing restrictions and infection control precautions. It is my duty of care to ensure I do not put my clients at risk If you require some advice or support, I will be available on my mobile to offer consultancy and education on how to manage your symptoms, order garments or advise on self-massage - in the absence of face to face.... Please call on 0407 916 666 if you require this form of intervention, or email me at [email protected] Take Care and Stay Safe. I encourage you to self-isolate until this pandemic is over. I will support you in any way I can.

08.01.2022 I am so happy to share the good news I have found a new premises to provide service for Lymphoedema and Remedial Treatments. During the restrictions - my old premises had to close. I am now working out of the Port Macquarie Osteopathy Clinic, alongside Glenn Chapman and his colleagues who run a very professional and COVID-19 infection control compliant practice at 37 Lake Rd, Port Macquarie. 06.01.2022 Up to date evidence for the effect of lymph pumping on maintaining sub-atmospheric pressure in the superficial tissue compartment. Also relatively easy to read ...for non-academics (focus on the introduction and discussion). In the discussion the authors note that compression alone may inhibit the diastolic phase of collector vessels which is necessary to create the suction effect in lymphatic pumping. Although they do not mention MLD or exercise, my mind immediately fills in this gap with the understanding that compression without movement (either MLD or exercise) is insufficient to manage oedema and may even be deleterious to proper lymphatic functioning. I have long been concerned at the focus on compression without MLD that is often promoted in the literature and by certain schools of therapy and this new evidence for the normal function of the lymph vessels, read in light of the action of MLD (Vodder only, not lymphatic effleurage) to increase lymphatic pumping goes some way to address that concern. Enjoy! http://rdcu.be/zl9V See more

02.01.2022 A huge thank you to two Mount Gambier breast cancer survivors - Dulcie Hoggan (pictured) and Pam Moulden, who are allowing me to share their personal stories to...day in State Parliament. Both these ladies are now dealing with lymphoedema - a chronic lifelong condition that requires the use of compression garments to make daily life more comfortable. The cost of these garments can range from $200-$3,500 a year - a significant cost burden upon people recovering from cancer. South Australia is the only state in Australia that does not subsidise these garments. I will be calling on the State Government to introduce a state subsidy scheme for lymphoedema compression garments, to ensure the thousands of South Australians that live with this condition can access this important treatment and are financially supported.
