25.01.2022 As we get to enjoy this glorious sunshine this week. It is timely that it is also the start of our Sunsmart program. So all children and teachers will need to wear a sun hat and sunscreen to be involved in outdoor play. HEI Schools Lara, will provide sunscreen but if your child has sensitive skin or recommended sunscreen. Then please speak to your teachers about how to continue this requirement at School.... So dont forget to pack your hat in the School bag. So that we can teach the children how to protect their skin and healthy lifestyle skills. Thank you for your cooperation.

25.01.2022 A moment of get togetherness. We are global family.

24.01.2022 Through our theme "Our story" in November, we enhance our children's socio-emotional competence. At HEI Schools Lara, we believe that socio-emotional skills play an important role in a child's growth and promote a healthy way of living. With our educators' support, our children practise showing empathy and compassion towards others. They learn how to give and take turns. Children create friendships by playing together and doing interesting projects in small groups. This month, the Explorer and Adventure rooms gathered together to think what a good friend is like whereas the Seek and Discovery had their HEI Buddy time to explore emotions through stories.

24.01.2022 Today we at HEI Schools Lara celebrated Diwali together, all children come together as a community to learn dancing from our educator Anusha. *Embrace our community, Embrace culture diversity. This is how we guide our children to be cultural competent.

23.01.2022 Did you know that at HEI Schools Lara, in our Kindergarten classroom we have a restaurant ? You can either order " Food we should eat less" or "Food that makes you grow". The option is yours. Great life skills and discussions about food choices, food preferences and health eating is the basis of life long learning.

22.01.2022 " All aboard the train" says the engineer as the train leaves the station and heads towards the quarry. We are going past the city stop, over the rolling hills, over the mountain and now heading towards the countryside to find the final destination rge quarry. Great team work which involves listening and building, designed, sharing ideas your ideas with others. Keep up the positive team work Adventurers.

22.01.2022 Have you brought in a wooden spoon so that your child can contribute towards our Spoonville Project ? We are still in search of so more recycled wooden spoons. So if you have any at home that you could donate to help us create a Spoonville Village that would be appreciated. Thank you for supporting our learning.

21.01.2022 Todays HEI Schools Home activity is called cleaning day. We have noticed that little ones are great helpers and love to participate in the everyday activities! This is a great way to practice everyday skills and take responsibility of the common space. Tell your child that today it is time to clean your house. Go through the to do-list you prepared earlier with your child. Show your child how to use the cleaning equipment, for example how to wet the cloth with warm water and twist it dry. Encourage your child to choose one cleaning task from the to do-list. When your child has completed a task, guide them to cross it out on the to do-list. Once you have finished cleaning, praise and thank your child on a job well done and compliment them on their specific achievements.

21.01.2022 We are getting excited as HEI Schools Lara celebrates its 1st birthday on Wednesday, December 9. Despite the global pandemic, we have had a year full of happy memories and exciting learning experiences with our wonderful children. How did it look like a year ago when the centre was built from scratch? #anniversary #1stbirthday #throwback

19.01.2022 HEI Schools Lara would like your help to grow our School. We would be very grateful if you could share our Facebook page with your friends and family. So thank you in advance for your ongoing support for our beautiful School.

19.01.2022 In preparation for School ,our kindergarten children have been practising letter writing and working on confidence with their fine motor coordination. In this experience children are learning about letters, about the alaphabet, letters in your name along with word and sound recognition. This has then be turned into a fun and interesting learning opportunity for the children.

18.01.2022 Greetings from our mentor teacher Niina: "I just wanted to say a big thank you for all the families, children and colleagues I have learned to know through HEI! It's been pleasure working together. I can't wait to meet this newest member of the HEI family and share the happy news with you. Take care and see you soon!"

17.01.2022 Good morning! Todays HEI Schools Home activity offers your child opportunities to explore opposites with the use of different senses and opportunities to practice verbalizing their observations. You will need opposites that you have chosen such as ice and warm water (cold and hot), sugar and salt (sweet and salty) and wool and stones (soft and hard). Place the materials/ingredients on display. Invite your child to sit next to the table where you have placed all the needed m...aterials. Ask your child to describe what they can see on the table. Name all the materials out loud, together. Guide your child to describe which sense is usually used to explore the materials/ingredients. Encourage your child to explore the materials and describe how they feel/smell/taste/sound like. Guide your childs attention to the opposites. You can introduce half of the materials (e.g. two opposite pairs) and after that, only half of the pair and encourage your child to guess the other half. For example, if you have salty salt here, what could be its opposite? Allow your child to explore the materials freely and encourage them to describe their findings. See more

17.01.2022 Happy World Children's Day 2020!

15.01.2022 Just a quick reminder that every child needs to bring in a sun hat to participate in outdoor play. Thank you for supporting our outdoor program and our HEI value in having active learning.

14.01.2022 Time is the essense when learning a skill. All you need is support, time and encouragement nothing more nothing less.

14.01.2022 To shape the lives of children as a educator or a teacher, is calling that comes from passion. In this our first year at HEI Schools Lara, we have faced so many challenges both professionally and personally as we learn to adapt to being in a pandemic. But what has been visible is the values that you have excelled in including compassion, gratitude, respect, perservance, love, caring, humour and humility.... So we say, thank you to you our amazing teachers. May you be recognised today for your efforts and contribution to Early Childhood. Thank you.

12.01.2022 Well the voting has closed and now we have a name for our Kindergarten class. The name with the most votes was Adventurer Classroom. Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote. I will now arrange signage for the classroom and we can start to think about the possible names for our last un-named classroom.... So, thank you for your involvement.

12.01.2022 When your favourite songs are open, shut them and old McDonald and we sing them over and over again with such passion. Then we learn a new song that our teacher Ranjit is teaching us "l am special l am me". Great work Discovery Classroom.

11.01.2022 This HEI Schools Home activity is called Which one? This is a great activity for supporting your childs hand-eye coordination skills and concentration skills. It also gives opportunity to identify right and left. All you need is pen, eraser and this Which one? worksheet. Tell your child that today you will do a fun pen and paper activity. Introduce the Which one? worksheet to your child. Explain to your child that they need to trace the lines with a pen. First they can prac...tise tracing the line with their finger. Ask your child if they know which one is their right and which one is their left hand. Give your child a pen and guide them to trace the line first using their right hand and then their left hand. Once your child has finished the task, move to the second part of the worksheet and guide them to color the hand which was easier to use. Have fun! https://www.heischools.com/for-families

10.01.2022 After introducing you to our HEI values, we would like to tell more about our HEI learning areas and the skills that we learn at HEI Schools Lara. For the next couple of months, our theme at HEI Schools Lara is called Our Story. During this theme, we focus on two main learning areas: exploring and interacting with the world around us as well as practising a healthy way of living. Through storytelling and illustration, we practise linguistic skills such as interpreting stories, forming sentences, and creating a storyline. At the Explorer's HEI Children Meeting, the children discussed the ideas for their own stories. What do you think will happen to the horses, dinosaurs, and dragons? And what if you met a unicorn in your neighbourhood park... What do you think would happen?

09.01.2022 During NAIDOC week, our whole centre was invited to contribute to a special community project called " Yarn Tree". Each child was invited to yarn around our stump to represent their voice as a family in our service, to share knowledge, to appreciate collaboration, and to enjoy the moment in a community spirit .

09.01.2022 As our children are so involved in the natural environment today the Explorer children have created their individual own worm farm. Children researched about their habit and what they need to be healthy. They then planned on how to create a worm farm.

09.01.2022 Our Adventurer children have been learning about their bodies. The learning has started by discussing and understanding how your body works. Children have been introduced to their organs and have created their own interpretation of what is inside their body.

09.01.2022 New learning space in our Nest classroom. For children to explore new quiet play space which is being carefully looked after by our friendly giraffe " Gerald". Opportunity to explore sensory, heights, length, size ,colours and patterns using ribbons. Finally, introducing jigsaw puzzles to begin to learn about processes. Such a peaceful space to learn.

08.01.2022 That HEI Schools Lara advocates for all children to feel safe at home, with family & friends and when attending Early Childhood or School. To recognise this HEI Schools Lara will be involved in training, providing free community details for local organisations. That families can use or share with others in need. Our older children will also be encouraged on what to do when they do not feel safe. By learning to be confident and speak to a safe person. All of these different elements are the basis of acknowledging Child Protection Week.

07.01.2022 Seek children enjoying HEI time and finishing the group music experience today with blowing bubbles. Children discovering about how bubbles are formed, how the air transport the bubbles then observing the light through the bubbles. This type of learning supports group learning, social skills, music and creativity learning, understanding of science concepts, use of imagination along with happiness and delight.

07.01.2022 Children at HEI Discovery were enjoying their playdough activity with natural materials. This activity provided opportunity to use creativity, become familiar with different textures and develop fine motor skills and social skills. Also the concentration was amazing!

07.01.2022 Learning is often about the process of learning rather than having an experience to play with. The discussion started by talking about what happens when you mix different mixtures together and this can then create a new product. This is how the slime experience was created. Children then added dinosaurs and farm animals to complete the learning which then focused on language and imagination skills. Great work Explorers!

07.01.2022 Dont forget what tomorrow is?

06.01.2022 The Moomin characters finally made it safely to Australia! Each room will receive their own Moomin character next week! In the meanwhile, you might show this picture to your child and see how many of these characters they can name. You might be suprised!

06.01.2022 Sometimes you just need a biiiiiig cuddle. Children at HEI Nest and Seek enjoyed their Finnish session outside today. And Moomin was loving all the snuggles.

06.01.2022 This is for everyone who has missed Paula, the pedagogical manager from Finland. We sure have! Join Paula for a lovely story time.

06.01.2022 Its offical our 4yr old kindergarten class has a name. We are the Adventurers. A massive thank you to our Finnish Mentor Jenna for creating the signage for us.

06.01.2022 Our Seek children have started to learn about and discuss about feelings and expressions. Our amazing prism mirror allows the children to explore their bodies, feelings and facial reactions. This is on the best super powers when you learn to understand how your body and mind works.

03.01.2022 People often ask what makes Finnish early education stand out from others? It’s not really one specific element, but more the holistic approach that combines education, upbringing and care. Finnish early childhood education enhances the child’s perspective and active participation, curiosity and creativity as well as embodying the importance of play and exploring. When all the important elements in a child’s daily life are aligned, they feel safe to explore their environment and learn new things.

03.01.2022 Even young children under two years of age are able to understand and be actively involved in role playing. Our Seek children, are using a kitchen setting as a way to start understanding the role that their family plays in their world and relationships to each other. Younger children watch and copy us and often we do not realise this until we see them copy our behaviour, language or quirks that we each have. When they do this it means that your chlld is admiring and looking... up to you. They role play to process this and learn more about you. So cooking in the kitchen is more than simply being with the pots and pans. See more

02.01.2022 For the first time our whole centre celebrating together the NAIDOC week.
