25.01.2022 Our Youth are Our Future!
25.01.2022 Dear Brothers... We as men are not always great at asking for help. Sometimes we rather avoid some feelings and prefer to feel like we have got everything under control. Most of us know that this isn’t great for our own wellbeing, but it also has a huge impact, particularly on the women and children in our lives. Today is the day we as men stand up and be proud to ask for the help we are so needing so that the violence ends with us and not taken into our future generations. ... True change comes from genuine growth. Growth happens once we heal. Healing starts when we begin to FEEL our pain.

16.01.2022 Gudda Gumoo lookout track and Gudda Gumoo gorge track are in Blackdown Tableland National Park. Rising abruptly above the surrounding dry plains, Blackdown Tableland protects spectacular sandstone scenery at the north-eastern edge of the Central Queensland sandstone belt. This is the traditional home of the Ghungalu people, who have visited this place for thousands of years and left behind rock art, vivid reminders of their special culture. #NAIDOC2020 #alwayswasalwayswillbe #Ghungalu #washerefirst #rainbowfalls

08.01.2022 NOT NOW NOT EVER TOGETHER Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Council We began the year face-to-face, and fortunately were able to end 2020 in the same wa...y. Newly appointed Attorney-General, Shannon Fentiman made time to speak to us, reaffirming her commitment to legislating against coercive control. Around the table are committed, passionate and talented people all working together to end domestic and family violence in Queensland. The Council has achieved a lot during a challenging year. Taking part in a virtual summit, connecting and building important networks, engaging with school leaders and helping kick start a new initiative with Qld Youth Councils. We’ve advocated on behalf of frontline workers and their wellbeing. We’ve continued to challenge workplaces to better understand domestic violence and respond to both victims and perpetrators. And importantly, the Council’s helping drive awareness and understanding about DFV - because if we’re to end the violence we all have to work together. #notnownotevertogether #notnownotever #EndDFV #EndDV #youth #keepingkidssafe #respectfulrelationships #NNNEtogether #domesticviolenceawarness #FirstAustralians #CALD #diversity #inclusion #community #socialhousing #elderabuse #endgenderedviolence #disability #LGBTQI #business #workplace #localgovernment #community #schools #athome #genderequality #respect #kindness Annastacia Palaszczuk MP Shannon Fentiman MP Micah Projects Queensland Women Queensland Youth Helem Yumba CQ Healing Centre Mura Kosker Sorority Incorporated Tenants Queensland Rio Tinto Sarina Russo Queensland Police Service LGBTQ Domestic Violence Awareness Foundation Brisbane Domestic Violence Service Beyond DV Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Queensland The Allison Baden-Clay Foundation Small Steps 4 Hannah Women's Legal Service Queensland Red Rose Foundation Australia Women's Health Queensland Daniel Morcombe FoundationAct for Kids Protect All Children Today Inc (PACT) Bravehearts Karni Liddell Wendell Rosevear Faiza ElHigzi Rachel Durdin
08.01.2022 EVER WONDERED HOW TO MAKE A KUP MURRI? It’s the ancient process of cooking food underground and is a big part of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cul...tures. There are different ways of performing one but proud Kalkatungu/Ngaro man Robert Congoo shares the way he was taught and wants everyone to have the opportunity to experience Indigenous protocols and customs to get a better understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
08.01.2022 Cynthia Lui MP - Member for Cook is the first Torres Strait Islander elected to any Australian parliament. Today she introduced the Meriba Omasker Kaziw Kazipa ...(Torres Strait Islander Traditional Child Rearing Practice) Bill into Queensland Parliament, delivering on our 2017 election commitment. For generations, Torres Strait Islanders have supported their children and each other in loving, supportive extended families, but these family relationships have not been fully recognised in Australian law. This legislation means children and adults who have grown up with traditional adoptive parents will finally have their legal identity match their cultural identity, supporting and strengthening their connection to community and culture.

07.01.2022 Brewarrina Aboriginal Fish Traps Estimated to be the oldest man-made structures on Earth Brewarrina Aboriginal Fish Traps About 90 kms east of Bourke NSW there ...has been an Aboriginal presence in the town that is known today as Brewarrina for over 40,000 years, extraordinarily there remains evidence of this on the Barwon River in the form of ancient stone fish traps. the oldest man made structures that exists on Earth, these stone fish traps are reportedly evidence of engineering skill, knowledge of river hydrology & fish biology, ask 10 different people what they think is the oldest surviving manmade structure on earth and chances are you will get 10 different answers. The pyramids of Egypt or Central America? Not even close. Stonehenge? A relative newcomer. The Neolithic farmhouses of the Orkney Islands, or the megalithic tombs of France? At 7,000 years of age, the oldest of these barely registers alongside the granddaddy of them allthe Ngunnhu fish traps of Brewarrina. http://nationalunitygovernment.org//ancient-site-australia http://www.environment.gov.au/heritage//national/brewarrina https://www.environment.nsw.gov.au//viewattractiondetail.a See more

05.01.2022 BREAKING: Today I’m announcing a wide-ranging review into the experiences of women across the criminal justice system to be undertaken by the Women’s Safety and... Justice Taskforce, led by Margaret McMurdo AC. Last month’s announcement to legislate against coercive control was just part of the work being done by the taskforce that is also going to examine the issues faced by women when accessing the criminal justice system. We know that the experience of the criminal justice system for women as victims, survivors or accused is different than it is for men. We also know that women and girls are disproportionally affected as victims of sexual assault, but it remains one of the most under-reported crimes, and only a small proportion of reported cases are prosecuted in court and achieve a conviction. Women also face a range of barriers when they seek help, which can draw out the legal process adding to their trauma. With one in five Queensland women having experienced sexual violence since the age of 15 and one in four women having experienced violence at the hands of their partner, we want to make sure these crimes are being reported and justice is being done. My government is committed to generational change and that’s why we’re leading an ongoing program of reform to end domestic, family and sexual violence, and to improve the criminal justice system for women.
