24.01.2022 Hi everyone, I wish to say thank you to those who read my posts. I so enjoy sharing, particularly at this time as we adjust to the changes happening in our world. I wish to let you know that I have now included Instagram as part of my weekly encourages. Each week I will be posting images, encouraging thoughts, and from time to time live videos that will include prayer, I hope that you pop over and follow me, leave a comment, ask for pray or share with others. During these ch...anging times I think it's important to remember we need to take the focus off ourselves and place it on others, others who maybe anxious, fearful or uncertain. I encourage all of us to find our gift/gifts and search for ways to use them in reaching out to others. Galatians 5:13 says, you my brothers and sisters were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. I believe God gave me the gift of exhortation and so I wish to serve God by using this gift to serve others. Encouragement and hope soothes the soul and keeps the doors of possibility open. So, please come and visit me on Instagram, chappyhelengc. Gods blessings

12.01.2022 #fearnot Life Lessons from Isaiah I was reminded this week of Isaiah 41:10 where God says,... fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand On Monday morning this week I found myself being admitted to hospital with suspected COVID-19. After collapsing outside the emergency department of the hospital I came to on a ward surrounded by strangers picking and prodding me and asking me all kinds of questions. In the bed next to me an elderly lady was calling out in desperation for a priest and telling her life story to whoever passed by, down the hallway another lady was yelling, arn’t you going to swab me to test for the coronavirus, and still others close by were moaning and coughing. What began as a reasonably normal day (except feeling unwell and visiting my doctor (to which I was expecting her to say go home and rest) ended up being a day of chaos and uncertainty. Just to set everyones minds at rest, I did not, and do not have the coronavirus. As it turned out, I was diagnosed with having influenza which has similar symptoms to the viras and I collapsed due to being severely dehydrated. I spent the whole day anticipating my blood results yet at one point in my panicked state Isaiah 41:10 echoed in my head. Fear not for I am with you, do not be stressed or concerned for I am your God. Our God is an almighty God and a compassionate God and is with us in every situation. Let's hold on to this thought as we go through these testing times. Let's not lose sight of who is in control.

10.01.2022 Hello out there, I am sharing some wonderful news. As a chaplain I get to do some amazing things with the students at my school like, playing drums, running rea...lly cool programs that enrich the childrens social emotional and spiritual wellbeing. I get to do gardening with some students and put together amazing singing groups which is one of my project for this year. For me and other chaplains to remain an itegeral part of the school comminity we need to fundraise each year to help keep us in our roles. I am happy to announce that today after phone calls, paper work and consideration our school, Gaven SS gets to run our first Bunning's BBQ for this year. These BBQ's are an important part of fundraising as this is where we can gain the most monies. Every donation we get goes back into the chaplaincy service to provide ongoing support for the children. So, on Sunday April 4th our school will be having our first BBQ fudraiser at Arundel Bunning's. It will run from 8am - 3pm so there will be plenty of time to pop by, buy a drink and or a sausage. Im sorry there wont be any free entertainment like singing or dancing ha ha! however, the sasusages and onions with sauce will be amazing. Please share with as many friends as you can, the more the merrier. I will repost this closer to the date. looking forward to seeing everyone on the day. God Bless

05.01.2022 We are living in the most unusual, uncertain and unpredictable times at the moment, true? Social distancing according to some, is becoming the ‘norm’. Social ...media has never been so popular as we Facebook, text, Skype and zoom. Now I know that texting and Facebook are probably the most popular however I wish to encourage everyone to also include phoning people . We can not assume that everyone has access to Facebook, Skype messenger etc. and even if they do, they may not necessarily feel confident in using it. I personally know a few people who live by themselves and do not have these connections and this completely isolates them. We are all going through this pandemic together, there is no exclusivity, we need each other, we need to stay connected in every way including making phone calls. It is so important to keep check on one another, to be praying for one another, to enquire about each other’s relationship with God and what kind of things are we doing to keep our faith strong and our relationship with God intact. Remember, Satan is roaming around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour 1Peter 5:8. The time we are living in now, where we are so isolated is the perfect time where Satan will attack. There is a lot of fear and anxiety in our community right now, more so than usual so I implore all of us to build one another up, stay connected, call people and have a chat, let them hear your voice, let them know you are thinking of them. Encouragers: *Write a short note of encouragement on some pretty paper, put it in an envelope and drop it into someone’s mail box or on their front door the next time your out. It doesn’t necessarily need to be someone you know. *Pray for your neighbourhood *Phone someone and share encouraging words and where possible pray for them on the phone. *Think of creative ways to encourage outside of your circle of known friends. *Equally important is to ensure our own wellbeing, that we are looking after ourselves, physically, emotionally mentally and spiritually. Our God needs strong soldiers, warriors *Lastly, something someone passed onto me a long time ago. Love Love Listen Listen - love who ever is in front of you at any given time and listen to them. Gods blessings everyone

03.01.2022 Encouraging children’s hygiene practices Hi all, as a school chaplain I regularly witness children, juniors and seniors cough and sneeze without covering their mouths, sometimes right into the faces of other children and then wipe their nose and mouth with the back of their hands. I see them eat yet never wash their hands before. ... Once upon a time it was common practice for our children to carry a handkerchief or tissue in their pockets or school bags and washing their hands before meals, particularly at home was mandatory. Now, I am sure many parents encourage good hygiene practices with their children however, it wouldn’t hurt to step things up a bit considering our current world situation. Giving our kids a small packet of tissues to take with them to school and encouraging and reinforcing the need to use them is one practice. Also, don’t be afraid to sit down with your children and talk with them about what’s happening in our world at the moment and about the importance of good hygiene practices ( making sure of course that the conversation is age appropriate) I have added a picture of a small plastic tube that I picked up at a $2 shop (Daiso) that I have hand sanitiser in, I carry it with me whenever I am out of the house. It is not very big and can fit into a small zip section of kids school bags. The challenge will be to encourage our children daily to use the tissues and hand sanitisers. And, yes, I am sure it will be a challenge for some however, if parents can bring these practices back into our children’s daily lives then imagine how much we could minimise the contraction of colds, flu and yes diseases such as the COVID-19 virus. There are no better role models for a child than their parents Gods blessings If you would like any more info on the little bottles I mentioned please leave a comment. Also, I would encourage you to share this post to your own page, to friends ect..
