25.01.2022 The Public Forum was a great success. Thank you to everyone involved! We were 75 people. Carmen Lawrence was a wonderful MC. Mark Champion welcomed everyone to country; he shared how important Bungalbin and country is to him and his people. We listened to other great speakers and ended with an informative 'Question and Discussion' time. There were photos of the Range on display, available for sale in a silent auction. We have captured some of the forum in the photos below.

24.01.2022 It’s almost a year since the WA government and Minister for the Environment, Stephen Dawson, said ‘no’ to mining at Helena and Aurora Range, Bungalbin. Environmental groups who co-ordinated a campaign to protect the range held a public forum on November 30 2018 to recognise the decision's "anniversary". The forum was chaired by former WA Premier, Dr Carmen Lawrence. The groups support the WA Government in its work to create a Class A nature reserve at Helena and Aurora Range. Mr Dawson told the Kalgoorlie Miner (December 4 2018) the Government remains committed to creating the reserve.

19.01.2022 News and updates for the proposed Helena Aurora National Park (yes! that is the name of the proposed national park for Helena and Aurora Range, Bungalbin). We can tell you that the boundary for proposed Helena Aurora National Park has been finally determined. We are just waiting for the government to announce the boundary, which will happen when it announces the boundaries for all the proposed national parks in the government's "Plan for Our Parks" initiative. Hopefully this ...will happen soon! We can also let you know that negotiations between the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) and Traditional Owners - towards developing an Indigenous Land Use Agreement (ILUA) - began in March 2020 and recommenced in June/July 2020. ILUAs for national parks usually include joint management between the DBCA and Traditional Owners, as well as a Ranger Program. Developing an ILUA with the Traditional Owners is a critical and essential step towards creating a national park for Helena and Aurora Range, Bungalbin. It is a legally binding document between the State government and the Traditional Owners. The Traditional Owners of Bungalbin are currently going through the process of determination for their registered native title claim "Marlinyu Ghoorlie". Photo is of the Range taken from a drone (source: website - see link below). Link to website page "Bushwalks on the Range" https://www.helenaaurorarange.com.au/bushwalks-range

10.01.2022 "The Helena and Aurora Range is a step closer to being made a national park", but there is still a lot of work to be done (Kalgoorlie Miner, February 21 2019)

09.01.2022 On this day last year, the WA Government said 'no' to mining at Helena and Aurora Range (Bungalbin). The range is yet to receive safe conservation tenure. However, Minister for Environment Stephen Dawson, told the Kalgoorlie Miner that the Government remains committed to protecting the Helena and Aurora Range: The McGowan Government is committed to the establishment of a Class A Reserve over Helena Aurora Range and to balancing protection of the conservation values of this land with tourism and Aboriginal cultural heritage values.

07.01.2022 "New ‘Bushwalks on the Range’ page on the Helena & Aurora Range website! The Range's website has been rebuilt and updated this year. It has the same though slightly shinier look, more photos and will now work much better when viewing pages on mobile devices (is responsive!). We also have great new content - a section dedicated to some awesome bushwalks across the range. Six walks are presented, encompassing every significant peak in the range, with detailed maps, comprehensive walk notes, lots of photos from each walk and even GPX files that you can upload to your favourite mapping app so you can follow the routes easily. Check them out and check out the range (when it is a little cooler...). You won’t be disappointed!
