25.01.2022 BREAKING: Please share. Melinda Pavey and the sneaky National Party will again put forward a regulation to allow floodplain harvesting in January - when Parliament is not sitting to scrutinise it and everyone else is on holidays (making consultation difficult). Worse still, the NSW Water Police - NRAR - have said they'll not be policing it. In February, the NSW Government were able to sneak this regulation through on a Friday afternoon without consultation.... If impacted, make sure you get in touch with the Minister's office to have your say. Read more: https://www.theland.com.au//floodplain-rescission-motion-/

24.01.2022 The NSW Government is allowing Canadian foreign corporate Websters Ltd to access government environmental water accounts. Lloyd Polkinghorne explains how this hurts Aussie mum and dad farmers Follow Lloyd's walk for water he’s a champion.

24.01.2022 THERE IS NO WATER CORRUPTION IN NSW!?! After a 1,221-day wait, ICAC finally released their report on alleged NSW Government water corruption to the public (on Black Friday 2020). ICAC have cleared ALL Ministers AND bureaucrats AND water lobbyists of corruption. ... You might be wondering if Stevie Wonder led the ICAC Investigation, but look at some of ICAC’s decisions. YES, Ex-National Party Water Minister Kevin Humphries told certain irrigators there was NO embargo to pump water in the Barwon Darling River, even though the NSW Government put an embargo in place. But, ICAC says this wasn’t corruption. ICAC says was confusion about the legal status and Mr Humphries was in campaign mode, seeking to placate his constituents before the election. YES, Ex-National Party Water Minister Katrina Hodgkinson signed off on 2012 Barwon Darling Water Sharing Plan rule changes to favour certain irrigators after Cotton grower Ian Cole lobbied the NSW Government. But, ICAC says this wasn’t corruption. ICAC says Ms Hodgkinson did not know Mr Cole personally or socially, and there was nothing improper about Mr Cole’s lobbying. ICAC says there’s no reason to make recommendations about Ms Hodgkinson because she’s not a public official anymore (she quit parliament weeks after the Four Corners Pumped show). YES, the NSW Government told the Federal Government to buy back water from Tandou Station at twice the market value, giving Webster Ltd (under Chairman Chris Corrigan) a massive $37 million profit. But, ICAC says this was not corruption. ICAC says that the Tandou purchase was important to both Mr Hanlon and Ms Morona, not because of any benefit to Webster, but because of its intrinsic importance to the success of the Menindee Lakes Water Savings Project" YES, senior NSW Government bureaucrat Gavin Hanlon provided confidential de-badged government information to certain lobbyists, including now National Party Senator Perin Davey. But, ICAC says Mr Hanlon is NOT corrupt. ICAC says taking into account the atmosphere he was working in he was doing what he thought was expected of him. If we accept ICAC’s conclusion that no individual acted corruptly, doesn’t that mean there’s something seriously wrong with our system? Millions of dead fish, towns running out of drinking water while certain companies make massive profits. But nobody is held to account. On the same day as ICAC released their report, the NSW Government voted against a much needed funding boost to ICAC. That’s why I’ll continue to investigate water mismanagement myself, using the powers of parliament to obtain secret documents. I’ll continue to push for law changes to end the secrecy. I’m also working with Friendlyjordies to expose this water mess to the entire nation. Watch this space. Read the full ICAC report here: https://www.icac.nsw.gov.au//past-inve/2020/nsw-government

24.01.2022 NATIONALS BREAK PROMISE FOR NEW GRIFFITH TAFE CENTRE It was all smiles in this photo just before the 2019 election, when Nationals Minister Adam Marshall MP joined Nationals MP Austin Evans and Griffith Mayor John Dal Broi promising 60 new jobs in Griffith. Today, we learn the National Party has broken this promise. ... The NSW Government now says Griffith will NOT get the new TAFE Shared Service Centre. The Centre will go to the National Party seat of Tamworth instead. The NSW Government claim a lack of housing in Griffith is the reason decision - something our pro-National Party mayor has talked about addressing for years. In any case, the NSW Government have kicked us in the guts when we desperately need an economic boost. I'll be following up with the Minister to see if we can get something else in return. The Area News subscribers can read the full story here: https://www.areanews.com.au//tafe-pulls-proposed-service/

23.01.2022 Well done, Lloyd Polkinghorne, who today completed a 303km walk from the NSW rural town Barham to the Hume Dam. His Walk for Water aims to raise awareness of the devastating impact water policy in Australia has had on small family farms in Australia’s food bowl area.

22.01.2022 The most dangerous job in the world: reporting on government corruption. I’ve got your back Friendlyjordies!

22.01.2022 MURRAY RIVER COUNCIL TO BE INVESTIGATED Ladies and gentlemen, the days when National Party MPs would turn a blind eye to alleged around here corruption are over. I have reported Murray River Council to ICAC and the Office of Local Government, to investigate a land deal that looks dodgy.... In August 2018, the Council paid $1.2 million for land so a company could build an ethanol plant on it. This was $500,000 MORE than local valuations estimated the property to be worth. There was no transparency around this decision. Ratepayers and taxpayers money needs to be respected. The good news is that I've heard back from the Office of Local Government, and they have started investigating. If you have evidence of alleged corruption in the Murray electorate, please let me know, I will report it Read more in the Sydney Morning Herald: https://www.smh.com.au//it-looks-dodgy-watchdog-to-look-in

19.01.2022 BREAKING: David Littleproud has just announced his new Water Top Cop to replace Mick Keelty. He’s a young man, there’s no need to feel down, Minister Littleproud told ABC.

19.01.2022 Looks like we’ll see some more Australian rice on our supermarket shelves next year.

18.01.2022 The Sugarmill is back! A treasure hidden in the Griffith industrial area. Check out their Facebook page for details.

18.01.2022 HAPPY DIWALI to all those celebrating the Indian Festival of Lights tomorrow. I’m celebrating by having a few shots (Pani Puri shots).

17.01.2022 Is my question racist? An incredible 130,000 people have now watched me ask Water Minister Melinda Pavey why she’s allowing the Chinese Government to buy our water in the Gwydir Valley. In response, she talks about the need to celebrate multiculturalism!?! ... Melinda Pavey and her government voted down my bill for a public water register. We have no Water Top Cop after Mick Keelty quit. The media barely cover this. The only thing that will stop this is pressure from you, the public.

17.01.2022 DAUGHTER PREVENTED FROM SEEING DYING MUM Gladys Berejiklian has called Queensland's border closure "cruel", "unjustified" and "spiteful". But few in Sydney seem to know what Gladys is doing to families on the NSW-Victoria border. ... On a Thursday, Loretta (in Victoria) heard news her mum (in Tocumwal) had 48 hours to live. The NSW Government told her she needed a letter from the doctor, confirming her mum was dying imminently, to cross the border. She also needed another letter from the Aged Care facility confirming the same thing. And she needed to develop a Covid safety plan and travel safety plan. By Sunday, she submitted the mountain of paperwork required for a border permit. But she got no response from the NSW Government. On Tuesday, Melbourne Cup Day, she was told her mum had died. AFTER her mum died, a NSW Govt bureaucrat called to let her know her cross border permit was NOT approved, because she needed more documentation. "I was absolutely devastated and heartbroken because I nearly killed myself to get there, for want of a better word," Loretta said This is just one of many heartbreaking stories. Why do we need such cruelty at a time there are virtually no Covid cases on either side of the border? While the New South Wales Government allows 40,000 people to gather for the footy grand final, a country woman is not allowed to see her dying mother for the last time Today I've put a question to the NSW Health Minister asking him to guarantee this won't have again. 15.01.2022 I've put this question to the NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard. If he introduces another North Korea-style border closure, he needs to make sure urgent border permit requests are approved within 24 hours. We have seen too much heartbreak in country communities. ... I really hope Government MPs like Steph Cooke and Justin Clancy will support me on this, rather than just blindly following their party line.

15.01.2022 Scott Morrison (ScoMo)‘s government has just passed a new bill that allows it to stop deals between our states/universities/councils and foreign governments. Curiously, though, this new bill does nothing about the NSW Nationals allowing the Chinese Government to buy up water in the Murray Darling Basin. We know Melinda Pavey allowed the Chinese state owned COFCO corporation to buy up seven billion litres of water in the Gwydir Valley.... The Chinese Government may be buying a lot more Australian water - but of course the Nationals voted to keep water ownership secret, so we don’t know how much or where. C’mon Prime Minister. Water is even more important than roads and unis. Please provide oversight over the sale of our most valuable natural resource. Because right now, then is none!

14.01.2022 FLOODPLAIN HARVESTING INPUT DUE 20 DECEMBER Even Donald J. Trump wouldn't be as bold as Melinda Pavey on floodplain harvesting. NSW Parliament has TWICE voted down Minister Pavey's regulation to allow floodplain harvesting in the Northern Basin. ... In November, we won the vote 23-16. A landslide victory. But Melinda refuses to concede defeat. She's going to change the law on 22 January, when Parliament is not sitting and we can't vote on it. Details on her plans are here: https://www.industry.nsw.gov.au//proposed-legislative-amen You have until midnight 20 December to provide your input (and let the media know what you think) Email: [email protected] Please send a copy to me at: [email protected] Spread the word.

14.01.2022 A few weeks ago I was in Balranald, when a man came up to me with a huge smile. G’day Helen, how are you? I’m a Labor man myself but I think you’re doing OK, he said. That was Roger Penrith. So kind, friendly and welcoming. He would always give me a smile and have time for a chat. ... Just shocked and devastated to hear the news of his passing this weekend. Roger always gave 100% for his community. He was the Director Of Murrumbidgee Regional High School Clontarf, a program that helps young Indigenous men engage in school. He also volunteered for Care Van, which provides free meals for those who need them. Roger was connected to land and culture: a great mentor, father, husband and friend. Rest In Peace Roger. Griffith won’t be the same without you.

12.01.2022 There's been some slight increases in general security water allocations announced today: Murray: 43 per cent Murrumbidgee: 77 per cent Lower Darling: 30 per cent... Lachlan: 38 per cent National Party donors: take whatever you want See more

10.01.2022 2020 HIDDEN TREASURE- KAY PELLIZZER Delighted to hear the NSW Government named Yenda hero Kay Pellizzer a 2020 hidden treasure - an award to women who have done outstanding volunteer work for their community. Kay Pellizzer has devoted her life to the improvement of Yenda. ... After finishing high school, Kay worked at the Yenda telephone exchange before taking on a position at Yenda Producers Cooperative Society Ltd, where she has worked for 59 years, and continues to this day. Volunteering has always been a priority for Kay. Her love ofsport, particularly rugby league, resulted in her taking on the position of secretary/treasurer of the Yenda Rugby League Football Club. Not content with this, Kay accepted the position of treasurer for Group 20 Rugby League, which she held for 25 years. Kay’s interests also extended to education, and while her daughter attended St Therese School, Kay accepted the position of secretary of the P&F Committee. Kay’s tireless efforts also included secretary of the Wade ParkManagement Committee, a 35-year membership of the St Therese Parish Committee, membershipof the ladies committee of the Yenda Diggers Club, and chairperson of the Yenda Progress Association; a position she has held for 40 years. Most recently, Kay has fought to restore Yenda Police Station, to bring back a police presence in her town. Through her stewardship, the township of Yenda and its citizens have been a beneficiary of Kay’s dedication and unwavering pursuits. Her efforts haven’t gone unnoticed and recognition should be made of her selfless contributions to Yenda.

06.01.2022 There are no greater heroes then those who volunteer to risk their lives to save others. It was my pleasure to honour the work of Peter Lugsdin and all the fabulous volunteers who make up the magnificent NSW Rural Fire Service - MIA District in Parliament of NSW.

02.01.2022 PETITION TO IMPROVE GRIFFITH SCHOOLS For some bizarre reason, the NSW Government have decided Griffith teachers should be paid LESS than those in surrounding areas. As a result, schools across the town are struggling to attract and retain teacher.... More than 20 teachers have quit Murrumbidgee Regional High School over the past few months, where the NSW Department of Education's cut-priced, poorly planned merger has been a disaster. Our children are suffering as a result, missing key lessons and falling behind in their studies. Hardworking staff at our schools are doing their best, but it’s tough when the NSW Government has set them up to fail. We need to offer Griffith teachers the same incentives as other towns in the region. And the Super School needs a principal at each site. If you agree, please sign this online petition for change. It only takes two minutes. https://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au//Pages/ePetition-details
