25.01.2022 I LOVE these stories... Ish and Dot by Peter H. Reynolds, and might never have seen them without homeschooling with my 5 year old. Thanks, Miss G-T!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKuXo5cIRtI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Clpw7PG7m1Q Back in 2016, we framed our then 8 year olds art, they have been proudly displayed on my office wall ever since. ... 24.01.2022 Did you know all worker bees are female? In the lifetime of a bee, they produce only 1/12th of a teaspoon of precious honey! Yesterday, informative wall paper weve been working on, was installed for Bruny Island Honey, in their Bruny Island store. Thanks to Natalie and Steve for the photos, we cant wait to get down there and check it out on the walls.... If youd like to learn more about bees and honey head to 2184 Bruny Island Main Rd, Great Bay and check out the new wall paper, live bees, and the many amazing honey products they produce and stock. 23.01.2022 This week is National Carers week. (13-19 October) Last week was Mental Health week. (6 - 12 October) With the two weeks aligning, we are delighted to share our new logo for Mental Health Families and Friends Tasmania. Supporting carers, families and friends, who support and care for those who suffer with Mental Health illness. ... Behind the design: The logo has been inspired by the Tasmanian Blue Gum, and is a symbol of resilience and strength. The colours and forms are reflective of our bush landscape, the leaves and the bark of the Blue Gum in varied light. The idea of shifting colours, and irregular forms, represents different experiences, perspectives and paths taken on this difficult journey, not only for those suffering but for those who care for, love and support those with mental health illness. The coming together of the coloured forms, means the tree in the logo is visible, or stronger because of the combined colours or support around it. Together, supported we are stronger.
23.01.2022 ***EDIT*** ANOTHER WIN: CONGRATULATIONS to Flying Colours Group, winning Bronze in Book Printing Digital for TasWater Annual Report 2018-19, at the National Print & Visual Communication Association Awards on 17 July 2020.
23.01.2022 Did you know we work with translated text? These brochures, have just hit the press. We organised the translation into Chinese, and produced the new layout and design consistent with the clients existing brochures. ... Its something some of our local tourism clients are finding very helpful for their documents and signage.

20.01.2022 A PRINTING win - DIEMEN AWARDS. At various times of peak demand for businesses with their own design teams and creative agencies, Finchdesign supplies in house design and/or external support. We worked in house for this agency project, on the Taswater annual report and developed a concept to include the use of actual high vis reflective tape on the cover. ... The tape concept was symbolic of the annual reports reflective look at the year, with a high vis focus on the people who make up Taswater. The DIEMEN awards were held on the weekend with the printer Flying Colours winning the Printing Category 19 Digital Printing for the TasWater Annual Report. We are thrilled with the result, and the client and printer for stepping outside the norm to go with our unusual idea involving high vis tape with their print. As a designer, we strongly believe our early years working in print houses gives us extra insight and the ability to be creative with the printing process and do things a little differently. Congrats to Flying Colours on their win.
20.01.2022 We are thrilled to introduce King Street Butchers new look, and logo, (previously called Greens Quality Meats). The logo design has been inspired by the tools of the trade and the significance of their location, with a butcher trading continuously from the King Street premises since 1924. The vintage herb illustrations accompany the logo and are a nod to King St Butchers past, combined with their modern and vibrant colouring, the herbs reflect the fresh, quality, local pro...duce that Paul and the team are proud to continue to supply their customers. Weve loved working with Paul and Jana to bring this new brand to life for King Street Butcher. Congratulations on the new look!
19.01.2022 Theres a new restaurant opening soon in Franklin. Introducing the new logo for Osteria at PettySessions A playful, creative, and stylish logo. ... The Osteria typography is bold, clean, legible and sophisticated. Its representational of the bold dishes, fresh local produce, a confident, creative chef, and the unique dining experience to be enjoyed in this historic setting. The linking letter forms of the logo are symbolic of Osterias great flavour combinations, the human connections made over food, and the interactions between restaurant patrons and staff. The O, subtly evokes the dinner plate combined with the unmistakable representation of a restaurant fork, in elegant anticipation of the meals to come. The use of the traditional font for Petty Sessions hints of the past. We look forward to Osteria @ Petty Sessions opening soon!

18.01.2022 Finchdesign is proud and privileged to work with Reconciliation Tasmania, and the Reconciliation Collective. In 2017 we designed the Reconciliation Tasmania logo and recently in May 2020, the sister logo, Reconciliation Collective. "Thank you very much for your wonderful design - we will acknowledge Finchdesign where appropriate. You seem to have really put your heart into this so thank you again. It stands alone as a modern piece and yet is respectful of the cultural herit...age of the Islands. Mark Redmond, Chief Executive, Reconciliation Tasmania From the rectas website, "We recognise the many histories that have contributed to modern Tasmania. From our First Peoples, to settlers and convicts, the growth of an Australian identity, and through the many ethnicities of more recent arrivals, Tasmanians come from many backgrounds and with more understanding and respect we can be together as one. Black white and all the other tribes coming to live in Tasmania. We all come from one tribe or another, all different colours and family trees from across the globe". We cant wait to see the installed sign on our next trip to Bruny Island (and maybe sample a leatherwood honey ice cream). @cygnet_cnc_designs #tasmania #honeyicecream #brunyisland #tasmanianflora #leatherwoodhoney

11.01.2022 FUNDRAISER Purchase an A4 print or calico bag, with 100% of the profits to be donated to bush fire relief. Bags $30 // A4 Prints $20 (frame not included) ABOUT THE ART... Inspired by native flora and our connection across the water to the mainland particularly during the bush fires, the artwork combines a bright fiery palette with charcoal shadows, set against the backdrop of a cool deep blue, touched by smokey hues. In particular the design elements centre around the Tasmanian Waratah (Telopea truncata), endemic to Tasmania and closely related to the NSW Waratah (Telopea speciosissima). "Telopea is derived from the Greek word telopos, meaning seen from afar, as the flowers are like a beacons in the bush. A lignotuber, is a modified stem that the waratah grows from, and allows the plant to produce new shoots, regenerating following bush fires. TO ORDER For details or to order, PM me or email [email protected] Orders taken until 15 Feb, bags and prints are anticipated to be ready for collection by the end of Feb. **Please note the image is a visual representation of the final product, while we endeavour to be as close to the representation as possible, slight variations may occur between the visual and actual final product. #finchdesign_studio

10.01.2022 Introducing our new design for Liggabuff Cupcakes & Sweets.
09.01.2022 "Unpacking our design" for the @torchbearer_wine label: The golden shield embodies the spirit of Tasmania with the Manuka flower, from the Tea Tree plant, with Tea Tree Road also being the vineyards location. The name Torch Bearer signifies the love the new owners have for the established vines. Originally from Vietnam and now calling Tasmania home, they have chosen to continue the legacy of the vineyard. The petals floating in the breeze signify the changing seasons and tra...nsient nature of life, to be savoured and enjoyed like the wine. The t has been used to represent Tasmania and Torch Bearer in a style that has been inspired by the Lunar New Year calligraphers in Vietnam, with the lettering believed to be uplifting and bring good luck, harmony, and prosperity.

06.01.2022 I AM SO PROUD of the Mt Nelson Community, and beyond taking on my idea and initiative for a Community Sculpture Trail. Weve worked on and shared so many fantastic creations over the last 6-8 weeks and the community spirit has been and continues to be amazing. Ive had tears - SO. MANY. TIMES.... On Monday (25 May) the Primary School kids who have been home schooling are returning to school. So, this weekend the community are creating chalk artwork to welcome and encourage the kids as they start back TOGETHER AGAIN AT SCHOOL. Its something positive to discover on their way. For the kids who have remained learning at school during this time, some of them are also creating art this afternoon, to welcome their friends back for Monday, with our local Primary School embracing the ideas too. For some of the kids who have been away for such a long time, not seeing their friends, they are nervous, some are excited, so this is our community showing we care. I couldnt be more proud. If your community would like to do the same, please feel free to share.
06.01.2022 We are very proud to be supporting this important and special remembrance event.
