The Good Design Awards Jury praised Bauhaus, commenting: A playful and well executed system for modular furniture and wonderful to see it in the gallery space. It allows for a true play on colours. So joyful and child-like yet refined and graceful. Furniture as art that truly functions. Beautiful job. Thank you to the National Gallery of Victoria for commissioning me to create all the furniture for the Great Hall - a vast and expansive space with a stained glass ceiling measuring 60m in length. Our Bauhaus collection was inspired by the ceiling of the Great Hall. A huge thank you to Simone LeAmon and Ewan McEoin from the NGV for their incredible support. 01.01.2022 We’re honored to announce that we have been commissioned to create all the new seating for the National Gallery of Victoria’s Great Hall. This project has been 2 years in development and we’re thrilled to have worked with National Gallery of Victoria to bring our BAUHAUS seating collection for the space to life. -Repost- Have you lounged on our new furniture pieces in the Great Hall yet? NGV commissioned Australian designer, Helen Kontouris to design seating for the expansiv...e space. The collection celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus movement and is inspired by a Bauhaus-designed building block toy and the geometric shapes of the Great Hall's stained glass ceiling, created by Leonard French in 1968. Each seating model has been carefully designed to blend contrasting and complementary combinations to support private or social gathering spaces within the Great Hall. #NGV Thank you especially to the amazing Ewan McEoin and Simone LeAmon for your ongoing support and for the fantastic opportunity to design for this incredible space. We partnered with leading textile brand, Kvadrat Kvadrat Maharam to select a range of textiles from their Febrik Husk, Maharam Messenger, Steelcut Trio, Canvas and Rime collections. We selected Kvadrat Maharam textiles for this project for the textile diversity within the collection's vibrant colour palettes and richness in varying textures. It enabled us to bring together a cohesive textile selection, referencing the colours of the Bauhaus movement and the brilliant saturation of stained glass colours in the ceiling of the Great Hall.
