There are lots of ways to be involved with Lions in our community!
11.01.2022 Theres great coverage this morning on Radio National of the south coast fires and relief efforts. Please dont forget that we are at the start of the fire season. Make sure you have your fire plan in place and your family knows what to do! The Lions are still collecting donations for our RFS crews. 11.01.2022 Become a lion... Many changes have happened this year and for many of us it has been a year of being forced to slow down, to revaluate where we give our energy and our time. It has been a challenging year for our Club who thoroughly enjoy being out in the community and we are learning how we can support our town, local families as well as charities in a different way. ... New members to our Club are welcomed openly, this year we have been fortunate to add three new members. This brings along with new ideas and invigorates our spirits. I mean the old saying goes "many hands make light work" If you are curious about who we are, or what we do and would like to come along to a meeting (once a month) then message us on our page or email us [email protected]. We would love to here from you!
11.01.2022 In the October edition of our 2508 magazine, we shared the news of the beloved Dennis Weatherall. Dennis lived the Lion's Club motto "we serve" to the full, with his family, this community and his country. He believed that no Lions project was too big or too small, and if there was a will it could be done. Dennis was not afraid to put the community plans in front of the right people, if it needed to be discussed with the decision maker - no matter their position, from the Pr...emier to the local man at the pub. His efforts live on within the Club, the Stanwell Tops Memorial Park and in Charles Harper Park with the roof over the bandstand and the miner skips. Dennis was a devoted family man to his wife Di, sons Darryn and Jarrod, their partners and adorable grandchildren. RIP our fellow Lion, we will miss you and your fellowship
10.01.2022 Did you know? https://www.facebook.com/173349336032985/posts/3687389224628961/
10.01.2022 If you are wondering how you can support your RFS brigades and the south coast fire-affected communities throughout the fire season, keep an eye out for our donation buckets You can find them at the Sri Venkateswara Temple, Symbio, Sunrise Nursery, Stanwell Park Cafe, Flying High Cafe at Bald Hill, Helensburgh Premium Liquor and Christians Meats. Your spare coins and notes will be spent on items requested by the RFS crews working in our Lions District - water, spray sunscreen, snacks, eye drops, hand sanitiser, poppers and wipes. You can also donate these items directly by putting them in the large bin in Coles. Thank you to these businesses for their support and cooperation, and to you for continually showing us what a generous and thoughtful community we live in
09.01.2022 Once again, the Lions Club's Wishing Tree is being hosted by Helensburgh Tradies in their foyer. It's been a dreadful year for many, and your thoughtfulness at this time will help make Christmas bearable - hopefully wonderful! - for many who do not have the comfort and security of a home and loving family. Please leave your unwrapped gift or non-perishable food under the Wishing Tree and bring joy to others this festive season. Thank you - your Lions Club
09.01.2022 2020 Helensburgh Lions Club County Fair *** UPDATE*** We have been taking the time to understand the new changes as required by the NSW Government Health Authority, we as a Lions Club would have many health regulation requirements at this years Country Fair to comply with the COVID Safe Plan.... Sadly, based on these compliances we have regrettably made the difficult decision not to go ahead with this years Fair. All of the wonderful stall holders that have shown interest so far have been contacted. It is in the forefront of our minds to be planning for next years Fair with a date yet to be decided. We look forward to being able to enjoy our much loved event with the wonderful 2508 locals, so we will keep you posted. Stay safe and we will continue to plan how we can best serve the community.
