14.01.2022 HFM FRESH FOOD NEWS Farmer Paul said winter vegetables are still booming so this week we thought we'd give you a lovely vegetarian recipe using beautiful winter veges - check it out below. We are seeing lots of local and Queensland grown vegetables at present like cauliflower, broccoli , cabbage, capsicum, carrots beans, zucchini, eggplants , radish, sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts, sugar snap, snow and garden peas. For those who like a bit of heat in their winter co...oking, the chillies are beautiful and in good supply as are tomatoes , onions , potatoes and pumpkins. Kana still has plenty of mushrooms so pop in and see her at the mushroom stall, she has a great variety too, but get in quick because she sold out last week. Citrus fruits are simply amazing and remember limes, lemons , tangelos, mandarins, navel oranges all help boost your immune system and are full of tasty goodness. Both green and red varieties of apples , and pears are crunchy and perfect for school lunch boxes. Our farmers have lots of sweet, local pineapples and the kiwifruit remains in abundance. Don’t forget the gold variety for those of you who like a bit of extra sweetness. Local producers deliver a ready supply of strawberries raspberries and blueberries all delightfully juicy and sweet at this time of the year. James tells us that banana supplies are getting low. Don’t forget our bakers have a wide range of organic and gluten free bread and baked treats. Other staples include free range eggs raw honey Qld dairy milk yummy cheeses and yoghurts as well as local meat, but unfortunately no seafood this week. The weather forecast is for a bit of rain, so be sure to bring your umbrella and grab some hot food and a coffee from one of our hot food vendors to warm you up on your way round. You could pay a visit to some of our specialty stallholders such as our florist Jessie and Kay from Do Terra can help you out with your essential oils. We're thrilled to have the Himalayan Connection back again this week too! Take home some kombucha for later on (maybe in a cocktail.) and if you prefer juice you'll love Stanthorpe Apples bottled apple juices. Definitely try out the microgreens if you haven’t yet, alll grown locally. New to the market this week, Freshly squeezed orange juice, and Indian food! Thank you for shopping and supporting local.
