19.01.2022 The link below is to the broadcast that was shared on ABC Gold Coast local radio this morning. Helensvale State School would like to recognise a NAIDOC week Champion Justine Dillon. Justine is one of our awesome parents at Helensvale State School and we are proud to support her achievements. Justine is the project coordinator for the Guanaba Indigenous Protective area. Justine has been working with Griffith Uni and the Kombumerri Custodians to create 50 videos, sharing ...traditional stories, verbally told and handed down from generation to generation. These creations will keep culture strong and inform many local Gold Coasters about our local areas that have Indigenous significance. The Gold Coast is rich with Indigenous culture and heritage, we would encourage all of families to take the time to listen to Justine share her work through the ABC link below. Thank you Justine Dillon for sharing your work and knowledge with our community. https://www.abc.net.au//progr/breakfast/breakfast/12841282

15.01.2022 Today our school are celebrating World Teachers Day. What an incredible year we have had. It was only in Term 1 this year, that the whole world was turned upside down and our lives all changed forever. It was our teachers who, in the space of a few short weeks, completely changed their teaching to deliver an online classroom so that our students didn't fall behind. Every day, our teachers perform a vital role in our school and indeed, our community. I am so proud to be a part of the Helensvale SS community and am proud of the work that our teachers and leaders do every day. Thank you Heidi Booth
