25.01.2022 I am off to London for a family law conference held at the Kings College in Waterloo. Our own Chief Justice of the Family Court of Aust will be speaking at the opening session. There will be speakers and delegates from all around the world. If the last conference (3 years ago), is anything to go by, I anticipate some very thought provoking sessions. I am happy to be travelling this time with my son, and enjoying a short holiday as well. He has packed his mountain bike and... can't wait to ride the World Cup track in Fort William, Scotland, ride in Wicklow, Ireland, might fit in a trip to Wales, and certainly around London and surrounds. Naturally, we will take a Harry Potter tour!!! Diagon Ally, here we come. Time for some well earned rest after the conference to recharge my batteries. Thanks go to my wonderful staff who will keep things rolling while I am away.

22.01.2022 One of the nicest things about legal practice, that I didn't realise, until I'd been practising for a few years, is that you get to grow up with people. You develop a relationship, a little like a GP does, and see people when they need you next, travelling with them on their journey through life. It is probably one of the most rewarding parts of practice. I sometimes ask myself whether, if I won lotto, I'd keep doing what I do? The answer remains a firm yes. It is good for the soul to help people. It is a privilege to be trusted to do so, something I don't think will ever be lost on me.

22.01.2022 EXPERIENCED FAMILY LAWYER We’re hiring! This is an exciting opportunity to join our well-respected Wollongong legal practice. We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic solicitor to practice primarily in family law.... You will have carriage of an existing case load and will be responsible for running those files from start to finish. You will additionally be required to assist the Principal of the firm in other matters from time to time, and attract new clients. Your role includes court appearance work in the Federal Circuit Court, Family Court and Local Court, liaising with clients and providing accurate legal advice, drafting pleadings, evidence, agreements and correspondence, negotiating and attending mediations. Experience in family law is essential, experience in other areas of law will also be valuable. Ideally you will be on the Legal Aid family law panel, or be eligible for admission to the panel. You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and time management with an interest in advocacy and developing client relationships. You will enjoy an intellectual challenge and have a keen attention to detail. Experience with Leap software is ideal, but not essential. Competitive remuneration in accordance with experience. 22.01.2022 HVL celebrated its 5th birthday on 12 June 2017. During this year we have welcomed Jessica Brady, Emma-Rose Nelson and continue to have the wonderful support of Hannah Swindells, Monica Grahame, Jessica Humphreys and Lara Fitton. We said farewell to Julia Butters and wish her all the best on her new adventures.... We work hard, we enjoy one another's company, and sometimes we muck up just for fun! Thanks must be paid to my wonderful hardworking staff, who help to make a difference, each and every day.

16.01.2022 This time I am off to the Biennial National Family Law conference in Melbourne and the 2nd National ICL conference. This will be a busy week, learning, listening, throwing my two cents worth in and rubbing shoulders with about 800 others from around Australia and the world, who all share the desire to make a difference. I will remain in touch with my staff throughout the week.

14.01.2022 What a wonderful day we had yesterday, celebrating International Women’s Day with my team, family, friends, colleagues. Congratulations to the grant and scholarship recipients, and to all those that attended to help us make a difference in our community.

Very proud to be part of this committee, helping to make a difference to the lives of many in our local community. Thanks to Amy Duggan and Magda Subanski for helping to make the day a success!

03.01.2022 I had the pleasure of speaking at the AFCC (Association of Family and Conciliation Courts) Australian conference in Melbourne yesterday. The conference brought together speakers from around the world providing thought provoking discussion on legal, social and psychological issues pertaining to family law. It was a privilege to meet and learn from so many leaders in their fields and I am certainly looking forward to the next one!

02.01.2022 I am delighted, today, to be celebrating four years since opening the doors to HVL. I am very spoilt with a team of hard workers, and thanks must be given to each of them, Hannah Swindells, Monica Grahame, Shona Martin, Lara Fitton, Jessica Humphreys, Julia Butters and Connor Opie. Even more exciting, on Wednesday we welcome local solicitor, Jessica Brady, who will join our team, and bring with her a wealth of experience, compassion, and hopefully, a dose of laughter from time to time. How time flies!!!
