25.01.2022 This little helicopter is going to fly - on Mars! Mars has a much thinner atmosphere than Earth, so the rotors have to spin much faster than they would here to produce the same amount of lift.

10.01.2022 Check out the vortices coming off the plane's wing tips!

10.01.2022 The guys at Silodrome found this fantastic old film from 1952. It was made by the US military for their pilots flying in Korea and was shown to trainees as in introduction to the old whirlybird. Covering a bit of history, a bit of aerodynamics, and the basic effects of controls it's well worth a watch if you've got half an hour spare. On a personal I'm going to do my Bell 47 rating soon, it's taken a while to track one down and I'm pretty, pretty excited... This film is doing a good job of helping that! - AG

03.01.2022 New TAF rules are coming in August (unless there's a delay) - no more TTF's, they're stopping. They'll be replaced by a 3-hour TAF called TAF3 at the airports which currently have a TTF service. The TAF3 will read the same way as a normal TAF, but are likely to remove some planning requirements, like the 30 minute buffers for fuel planning, which won't be required in the first 3 hours of the TAF3. You can read about it, see samples, and have your say here
