23.01.2022 In case you missed it, here is the industry news that caught our eye over the last few months. Read anything interesting lately that you want to share? Drop a link in the comments (favourite recent memes also welcome).

22.01.2022 Antonio has become a bit of a superstar since our last post, so heres an interview with the man of the moment. His career advice for others? "Less talk, more action."

22.01.2022 The things you pick up when youre living from a suitcase for 6 months a year... Pep learned this hack while staying in a hotel that only had a kettle for cooking. After a few days of instant noodles, he got creative. What hacks have you learned while on tour? Were still trying to work out how to cook a steak in the toaster...

21.01.2022 Two spots have just opened on our 139 course this month. This course was sold out so if youve been thinking about getting your 139 licence, take a look and contact us if you have questions. https://helitsa.com.au/139-training/

21.01.2022 Fresh off the press! 300+ pages of schematics on all the bells and whistles of the S-92, all ready for a private type training course. These drawings took hundreds of hours to make can you tell Peps happy to see them in print?

21.01.2022 Exciting news we are now EASA approved under our own Part 147! When we transitioned to our own Part 147 late last year, we had to reapply for our approvals. That means our course materials have now been scrutinised by EASA twice and passed. Were really proud of this achievement, because EASA sets a very high benchmark for training. See some of the questions we are commonly asked about EASA licensing below...

18.01.2022 Lets be honest: training is a regulatory requirement that gets you an all-important piece of paper. But were not here to just tick a checkbox, because ... Its no fun for anyone ... You wont gain confidence on the aircraft Thats why we are so chuffed to get feedback like this. We want to create an experience that has a direct impact on your career. During each course, we are always available to answer questions, take you through real fault scenarios and have a laugh. These little things keep you engaged, even during complex modules. And over a month of training, all of those little things culminate in a lot of extra knowledge for you. -- There are just 2 spots left on our next AW139 course. Its filling up faster than previous courses and you can find more information here: https://helitsa.com.au/aw139-training/

18.01.2022 Congratulations to these B1.3 engineers for completing their AW139 training! We had a lot of fun on this course, and really enjoyed the insights and experience that each engineer brought to the table. Interested in getting qualified on the AW139? The next course is happening in September just send us a message to request an info pack.

16.01.2022 Weve been getting a few questions about our engine courses, so youll find more details below about: Eligibility Why we launched this training Joining the T53 waitlist... Got a question? Send us a message and well get back to you. Were so excited to see this training up and running!

15.01.2022 Pro tip: With a new 139 course underway this week, we are sharing our top-secret study method below. Use it wisely, otherwise you risk filling your mind with useless rubbish...

14.01.2022 POLL TIME: We go through a rotation of biscuits on course (with Tim Tams saved for avionics days), but this morning we had the classic Assorted Creams pack. Tell us below, whats your favourite biscuit? ... Do Orange Slice fans even exist? Or are you a Monte Carlo person all the way?

14.01.2022 What a line-up! Congrats to this group of B1.3 and B2 engineers for finishing their training. Its been a great course and were keen to see where their training takes them next. We hope they dont miss our jokes and morning tea spreads too much! This was our last course for 2019 and the next one is happening in April!

14.01.2022 Going virtual With international travel restricted, we ran a custom RR250 Series FADEC course for Heli Niugini Limited online last week. There wasnt a training solution on the market that met their unique regulatory requirements. So we developed a one-day course, and administered an online exam for participants located in South Africa and Papua New Guinea. Having this course custom developed was a cost-effective alternative to sending the team on engine type training. ...Virtual delivery also allowed us to meet their timeframe amid global travel restrictions. Want to know more about custom training? Email us for a copy of our capability statement. [email protected]

13.01.2022 ALUMNI: Given its been two years since our first course, we thought wed check in with some of our past engineers to see what theyve been up to. And who else would you rather hear from than the engineer in the Santa outfit? James Courtney enrolled in our AW139 course because he wanted to shore up his pipeline of work as a contractor. But the day after he finished the course, he had an interview with CHC and has been working with them full time ever since. ... See our full chat with him below ...

13.01.2022 Say hello to our first group of RR250 Series engineers. They just wrapped up their training with us, after a great week. They really got into the spirit of pulling apart the engines and bringing great questions to class each day. It is fantastic to see a new course come together, and were already looking forward to the next one in November. https://helitsa.com.au/engine-courses/

12.01.2022 Like many maintenance engineers, our former student Michael was having issues attaining his first of type licence through CASA. Now that he has a full-time job and his licence, he talked us through how he did it and the advice he has for others.

12.01.2022 Exciting news we have launched Rolls-Royce M250 and RR300 training approved by CASA. Thanks to Helis.com for sharing all the details. The first course in August has sold out, and a second course is open for enrolment. Find more information and course dates here: www.helitsa.com.au/engine-courses

12.01.2022 While we run high-tech courses with simulators and new software programs, perhaps our most innovative teaching aid is Troys pointer. He has tried all the laser gadgets, but insists this sawn-off golf stick is the most effective solution. The jury is still out on whether it has improved his golf swing...

12.01.2022 Today is an exciting milestone for us, because it has been two years to the day since we held our first ever type course. This is also the first photo weve had taken of both of us together in those two years ... With our September AW139 courses already starting to fill up, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for being part of our journey. Its been a terrific ride, and one thats only just getting started. ... To our past students, thanks for trusting us with your training. And to our future students, were looking forward to meeting you.

10.01.2022 Week one of our first course of the year and first course under our own Part 147 is almost done. With the guys now initiated on the AW139, were looking forward to the next four weeks with them. Next up: avionics week.

09.01.2022 What a great week we've had on our first ever T53 course! A lot of firefighting helicopters use the T53 engine, which means these guys will be putting their training to use straight away as we approach summer. They were a great group, with some familiar faces returning to train with us for a second time!

08.01.2022 These magnificent engines have been added to our inventory of training aids! That means we are now accepting expressions of interest for the following engine courses: Rolls Royce M250 Series... Honeywell LTS 101 Honeywell T53 Arriel 1 & 2 series Each course is 5 days, covering the theory and practical elements necessary for you to obtain the relevant engine licence. We picked these up ourselves to make sure they were handled with care! And now we can add truck driver to our CVs. If there is enough interest, we will open courses for enrolment online. So if youd like to join the waitlist, send us a message or email. [email protected]

08.01.2022 Up and away. Our latest AW139 course has kicked off and today our B2 guys went through electrical and starting theory in the simulator, and even had a fly. We are often asked about the quality of the simulator and whether its just a desktop computer. Have you ever seen a desktop computer do this?

07.01.2022 POLL TIME: Tell us which hat you prefer. We are excited for the new designs of our hats (because we want you to be sun smart on the tarmac during course, guys). Pep loves the dad fit and Troy loves the flex fit, so let us know .. are on you team Pep or team Troy (see each picture to choose your team).

06.01.2022 Please join us in congratulating this fantastic group of engineers who’ve just completed their 139 training. We've enjoyed getting to know you all well done guys!

05.01.2022 On the menu today: hangar-cooked bacon and egg rolls with a side of hash browns... BBQs like this are a great way for the guys to get to know each other better, so they can build their network of genuine connections in the industry (and Pep will take any chance to show off his BBQ skills). Our B2 group finished up today, and well say goodbye to the B1.3 engineers next Friday.

05.01.2022 What a group! Training these engineers from Bristow Nigeria was a great end to the year. We spent 3 weeks in Lagos providing theory S-92 type training for these cadets and experienced engineers. Now weve touched down in Australia just in time for Christmas (and cricket season). Well miss the warm Nigerian hospitality, but its time for a break and well be back in the office on 6 January. ... Wishing you a Merry Christmas and we hope to see you in 2020! -- https://helitsa.com.au/s92-training/

04.01.2022 Got questions about exclusion removals and cant seem to get a straight answer? You arent alone. Since starting HeliTSA, we have been inundated with questions about exclusion removals and how best to go about lifting CASA E1, E4 and E5 exclusions. After a few years of working with engineers to get the exclusions removed from their licences, we have mapped out the most straightforward way to navigate the whole process.... So here are the most common questions we are asked and the steps you need to take to remove your exclusions ...

04.01.2022 On the tools: were into the practical part of our latest AW139 course, and it has coincided with 300-hourly and four-yearly inspections on LifeFlights aircraft. So in the last two weeks, our engineers have really been putting their skills to the test. Were all about real-world training, and this is as hands-on as it gets. Because we get you into a working hangar, you never know what will come up during prac it could be a fault weve never seen before, an overhaul or a ground run. Every day is different, just like life in the hangar.

03.01.2022 Automatic flight control system (AFCS) in the sim... Putting theory into practice is the best way to make sure systems knowledge sticks. So to wrap up theory for our B2 guys, we took them to the sim to experience the AFCS in action. After working through their knowledge of AFCS failures with the system in action, they practised flying using AFCS functions. We also had a couple of crashes in the sim, which is never good for Pep’s motion sickness!

01.01.2022 The final post in our walk down memory lane ... Weve been training engineers for two years now, and it took us two years of work before that to get all the training materials written and approved. But all that work was well worth it, because we really do have a great time on each course. Weve had some terrific engineers train with us. Spot anyone you know?

01.01.2022 Good news for your Friday: Antonio is the first local engineer in Timor-Leste to get a H175 licence approved by CASA! And as far as we know, hes the first CASA licence holder too... We developed a H175 OJT Journal for his employer, Babcock, and were proud to have played a role in this awesome milestone for the industry. ... Personally, Pep has previously met Antonio while out touring, so this made the news all the more exciting for us. Congratulations, Antonio! I would like to express my gratitude to HeliTSA who responded promptly to get OJT for H175 approved by CASA and distributed. Troy acted very quick to assess my OJT and get it done.

01.01.2022 What a milestone for our partner, LifeFlight. Were proud to support this effort by training their maintenance engineers.
