17.01.2022 Staff Spotlight: George Kazias Hes a familiar face that most of you would have encountered on a visit to the Club, and this week were putting our staff spotlight on our longest serving staff member - George Kazias - who is celebrating 28 years of service here at the Hellenic Club in 2020! In July of 1992, George worked his first shift at the Club in the TAB. He then worked behind the bar before being promoted as a Duty Manager, followed by Beverage Manager, b...efore finally landing his current role as Customer Service Manager in 2017. He had found his element. George says he has seen a lot of change at the Club since he started, including a change in the Clubs marketing during the 1990s that saw it go from having just a few thousand members to tens of thousands in just a few short years, and more recently "a concerted effort to improve tenfold our customer service, employing Customer Service Hosts dedicated to ensuring everyone who walks through our doors has the best experience possible". He believes this is what has established the Hellenic Club as the best venue in Canberra. But above all, George says he loves working at the Hellenic Club because of you - our members. "I love the people I work with and love getting to know our members on a personal level and listening to stories about their lives". Following the ACT Governments announcement today, we are excited to announce that from 9am this Monday 10 August, all service areas at the Hellenic Club Woden and City will be back open for business! From this date our gaming rooms at both our Woden and City venues will reopen with a maximum of one person per 4 square metres of usable space (up to a maximum of 100 patrons per indoor area). In addition to this, there will be no limits on the size o...f groups and bookings in any of our restaurants and bars. There will still be maximum capacity loadings for each area within both venues under these new restrictions, so we kindly ask that if they do reach capacity that you do not enter the area until seating has become available. The capacity will be displayed at the entrance to each area and our staff will be on hand to assist you with this. The health and safety of every one who walks through our doors is still our top priority, which is why the following contact tracing and hygiene measures will remain in place: All members and guests will be required to sign in on entry with their membership card or valid proof of ID (drivers licence, proof of age card or passport) for contact tracing purposes Hand sanitiser station is set up at the entrance and it is a requirement that all members and guests use this as a condition of entry, additional hand sanitiser facilities are available at various areas throughout the Club Social distancing measures will be in place between tables and we ask all members and guests maintain 1.5m social distancing when queueing at service points and moving around the Club Cleaning and sanitisation of all surfaces will be undertaken after each sitting in all areas If you are unwell we ask that you please do not attend the Club A friendly reminder that for a limited time only we are offering new guests the chance to sign up as a member for the discounted price of $3 for 1 year.
