22.01.2022 FUN FACTS ABOUT SOAP 1.4 million deaths can be prevented each year by handwashing with soap. 7 million children have died due to disease that could have been prevented with proper hygiene since 2009.... Children under 5 who wash with soap can reduce their risk of pneumonia by 50%. The World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control actively promote handwashing to save lives by preventing illness and infectious diseases. Handwashing with soap is among the most effective and inexpensive ways to prevent diarrheal diseases and pneumonia, which together account for 3.5 million child deaths annually. Soap was first used as a medicinal agent. The Egyptians regularly bathed, using a soap made by combining animal fats with wood ash. Real soap made with natural ingredients often has a healing effect on acne, eczema, psoriasis and other skin conditions. The soapmaking process, called saponification, separates the oils’ fatty acid bonds and combines them with molecules in the lye to form a salt. This salt is what we refer to as soap. (Yes. Not all salts are hard.) Most commercial soaps are not true soap, but are a combination of chemical detergents, artificial lathering agents and toxic chemicals. After a perfectly balanced saponification process finishes, the soap no longer contains lye or fat. Both are consumed during the saponification process.

20.01.2022 What ingredients should I avoid in choosing a natural soap? 1. Surfectants- Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside, Coco Glucoside, Lauryl Glucoside, Decyl Glucoside- these are foaming agents used to make "glycerin bars" lather. In handmade soaps plants based oils, such as Coconut & Castor oil are used for bubbles, cleansing and moisture. 2. Sulfates- Sodium Lauryl (Laureth) Sulfate (SLS), cocamidopropyl betaine (cocabetaine), diethanolalamine (DEA)- these are detergent based foaming agen...ts, which have been shown to cause irritation. 3.Parabens-At the concentrations used to preserve cosmetics and medicines, parabens may sensitize and cause topical contact dermatitis. It is believed that persons sensitive to parabens may develop dermatitis from parabens in food and medicines. A study also found when applied on the skin, methyl paraben can react with medium wave ultraviolet radiation and increase DNA damage and skin aging. Suffering from dry, itchy, ashy skin? Now you should see why! In other words, most of the "soaps" sold in stores are junk and don't belong on our skin or in our bath. I'm not one who believes the ingredients can cause cancer, that is a bit of a stretch. I would just prefer all natural, plant based oils on my skin that I know are helping, rather than harming my skin

09.01.2022 Hi everyone. This month buy 5 soaps and get 1 free. Finishes end of march. Happy soaping.
08.01.2022 Cold process soap retains the glycerine that is naturally produced in the process. Glycerine is an excellent element to soap because it is a natural humectant, attracting moisture from the air to your skin, helping to keep it soft and supple. Commercially manufactured "soaps" (which are often actually detergent bars) tend to be drying because the glycerine is removed and then sold as a by-product to companies that incorporate it into their lotions and skin creams. Most people find that by using handmade soap that still has its glycerine, they don't need to apply as much lotion. Also, chemicals added to commercial body bars to increase lathering and shelf-life can result in dry, itchy skin. Handmade soapmakers, instead, take the time to formulate soap that naturally lathers beautifully.
