25.01.2022 Yalke in Blue lamp shade. Fabric Artist: June Smith History: Spectacular views of various creatures such as birds and frogs, and different vegetation can be viewed in the Yalke or wetlands of Australia, both in dry or wet seasons. In the dry season, vast water mass goes back to permanent wetlands, waterholes etc. and become home for waterfowls and many other migratory birds of Australia. In the wet, birds like magpies and geese congregate on the wetland or Yalke. June, with a vibtant color sense, has brilliantly depicted this design with Aboriginal symbols and signs out of her dreamtime story.

23.01.2022 The Peace and Love lampshade is inspired by The Summer of Love. "The Summer of Love was a social phenomenon that occurred during mid-1967, when as many as 100,000 people, mostly young people sporting hippie fashions of dress and behavior, converged in San Franciscos neighborhood of Haight-Ashbury. Hippies, sometimes called flower children, were an eclectic group. Many were suspicious of the government, rejected consumerist values, and generally opposed the Vietnam War. A few were interested in politics; others were concerned more with art (music, painting, poetry in particular) or spiritual and meditative practices."

Chicks are born blind and with absolutely no feathers which take a month to grow. (No wonder they need help from their older brothers and sisters.) Aren't they amazing creatures!? In this artwork, Roseanne beautifully depicted the white dots which represents drinking water for Kangaroos. The dotted lines between the waterholes are the walking paths of Kangaroo.

10.01.2022 Do you know who Frida Kahlo was? She was a Mexican painter known for her many portraits, self-portraits, and works inspired by the nature and artifacts of Mexico. Inspired by the countrys popular culture, she employed a nave folk art style to explore questions of identity, postcolonialism, gender, class, and race in Mexican society. Her paintings often had strong autobiographical elements and mixed realism with fantasy. In addition to belonging to the post-revolutionary Mex...icayotl movement, which sought to define a Mexican identity, Kahlo has been described as a surrealist or magical realist. Kahlos work as an artist remained relatively unknown until the late 1970s, when her work was rediscovered by art historians and political activists. By the early 1990s, she had become not only a recognized figure in art history, but also regarded as an icon for Chicanos, the feminism movement and the LGBTQ+ movement. 10.01.2022 Which fervent Frida Kahlo fan hasnt dreamed of visiting her blue house in Mexico?? Now you can take a virtual tour of "La Casa Azul" (the blue house) from the comfort of your sofa! The blue house, is where Kahlo spent a majority of her life, and contains some of the painters most important works, including Long Live Life, Frida and the Caesarian Operation, and Portrait of My Father, among others. The house includes the original furniture from when Kahlo lived there..., as well as personal possessions, Mexican folk art, and works by Kahlos husband Diego Rivera. A virtual exhibition titled Appearances Can Be Deceiving features over 300 pieces of Kahlos belongings, including her instantly recognisable clothing: traditional Mexican dress, intricately embroidered blouses, and brightly coloured skirts. The artists prosthetic leg, which she had custom-made following the amputation of her right leg in 1953, can be found in her bedroom.
