24.01.2022 We loved working on this branding project. Melaku and Berhan are the loveliest people and are long time local traders who have seen Footscray through many stages. Designing their branding taught us a lot - not just about the history of coffee from its birthplace in Ethiopia - but also about the people who make up Footscray’s culture and community.

01.01.2022 This photograph was taken by our creative director Liana Lucca-Pope on NYE 2020 and is part of the Picturing Footscray photography exhibition - just opened online. "This photograph was taken on NYE 2020, in the backyard of one of the women. They are all local hairdressers and incredible, strong, funny, earthy, unpretentious, interesting humans. I loved the photo at the time - for the gorgeous women and the setting - it's so real and honest and very Footscray for me. But the p...hoto has taken on additional poignancy because of what happened only a few months later. There was such a sense of freedom and optimism in the air that night but then our worlds came crashing down. Hairdressers in particular, have had to deal with a unique kind of pressure during the pandemic as they have to be so physically close to people. It's an extraordinarily difficult time and it feels like none of us will ever be as carefree as we were that night."
