25.01.2022 If you're a Gladdy local, you'll no doubt know DeBoer Hairdressing. Deb came to me at the end of last year on recommendation from another one of my favourite clients (thanks Harbour City Tiles & Carpets ). Deb was venturing into her own salon and needed help with her logo, the only caveat? It needed to be done quickly! The brief was clean, simple, elegant, but not girly or overly feminine. And this is the end result!... I've also included some of the initial concepts below. I don't tend to share the concepts I create for clients, but I thought I'd show a little of the behind the scenes for this one. Real world mock-ups are an important part of my concepting process. It really helps clients to understand how the logo will look in real-life situations and as a designer, it's also great to get a sense for how the logo will perform in these situations. Congratulations once again DeBoer Hairdressing!
23.01.2022 That clip board makes me look very official. In all seriousness though, I really do need to get some more photos taken! If only Jessica Turich Photography lived a little closer to the big smoke. For those who don't know me, I'm Jade, the face behind the page! I have to admit, I certainly don't feel as chipper as I look in this photo. I had the dreaded Covid test today. I'm not that sick, but I did my duty and had the test. To anyone that feels nervous at the prospect of having it - it's not pleasant. You're not going to do it for fun, but it's really not that bad. If you feel unwell, just get the test!
23.01.2022 If you follow me on Instagram...I'm sorry...you've already seen this one. A shirt I designed in collaboration with the awesome team Hot Southern Miss. I've been working with them for a number of years now (I think it's probably coming up to close to 5 years) and it's always an absolute pleasure. This design is currently available in a number of cuts and colour ways - check it out at:... https://www.hotsouthernmiss.com.au
21.01.2022 Sunday Bunny’s...the result of Saturday night doodles whilst sitting in front of my computer catching up on my @seedlingdigital copywriting masterclass (whilst it’s not evident in this photo I did actually write lots of notes Nikki! )
17.01.2022 Thinking of everyone in Melbourne right now, stay safe - you've got this. 2020 you've really kept us on our toes and in our homes! Back in December 2019, I was lucky enough to get to Melbourne (when it was just a simple trip) for the KAWS exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria... Who would have thought how relevant 'Companionship in the Age of Loneliness' would be in 2020. It was poignant back in 2019 but even moreso now. Even if you don't recognise the name KAWS, you're almost certainly familiar with Brian Donnelly's (aka KAWS) larger-than-life sculptures and paintings with their signature X features. For several decades, KAWS has been one of the world's most prolific contemporary artists and his work is equally in demand with major modern art galleries as it is with brands and pop artists. The detail, the perfection, the lines, the shapes, the colours...nothing but love from me
16.01.2022 This is the work that I don't often share, but truth be told it accounts for a significant proportion of my workload. Creating marketing collateral and materials is something that I really enjoy doing. It's not everyone's jam, but my background in Marketing Communication's Management probably contributes to my enjoyment of it. Anyway, I'm going to make more of an effort to share this style of work as we embark on 2021. This project was another piece of collateral I worked on... for the team at Caravan Masters. Whilst everyone focusses on digital these days, there is still a solid case for well-executed print material. We created these flyers so that the CM team could drop them into the letter boxes of homes in their local area who had caravans/trailers/RV's in their driveways. Talk about a targeted marketing campaign! You can't go past delivering it directly to your target audience! See more
15.01.2022 Ummm...so I just realised that it has been over two months since my last post! Why? No real reason, but like many of us, I am a bit 'jaded' (pardon the pun) with social media and media in general. It's been a hectic year thus far (as far as the world is concerned), and it doesn't look like that's going to end anytime soon. For now I just plan to keep my head down, bum up, hands washed and mask on (when appropriate)! - just on that, does anyone have any contacts for small bu...sinesses who are making masks? Let me know if you do! Nevertheless, I have been lucky enough to be busy with my corporate work and have had some great little projects on the go too (which I'll share over the coming weeks). I'm also working on some new services, so stay tuned for that! Stay safe x
14.01.2022 So excited to finally share my little project with the beautiful and uber talented Alanna! Coming soon!
14.01.2022 I recently had the pleasure of creating a little logo mark to document the build of Todd & Sarah's Byron Bay inspired Queenslander in beautiful Tannum Sands. You can follow their journey on instagram @pacifica_beachhouse I'll be honest, this one came together pretty quickly. Sarah provided an amazing brief with lots of awesome visuals. From there it was just a matter of pulling it together to create something that worked for her style. I am pleased to say that we nailed it first go! Yay! Congratulations, Todd, Sarah & Audra! I can't wait to follow the journey of PacificA!
13.01.2022 A little colour love for a Thursday...anticipating the arctic blast about to hit Brisbane. 24 degrees! How will we cope?
13.01.2022 What's my niche? If you follow a few designers you may have heard this being talked about. The basic idea is that you focus on a particular niche whether that be an industry, client type, style of work etc. It's something that's been on my mind for a while as I don't necessarily have a niche and to be honest, I don't particularly want to. I enjoy the diversity of working with lots of different clients. Client variety keeps me on my toes, keeps things interesting and makes me ...a better creative. If I did niche, it would be based on the type of work that I do rather than the clients/industry I work within. I love the fact that I can be working on a Government document in the morning, creating social posts for a builder in the afternoon and finishing off my day with drawing shapes and patterns for jewellery design! To put it quite simply, I will work with clients in any industry if they are good people. Period. However, I will turn down work if it doesn't align with my personal values but that's a post for another day
13.01.2022 One of my favourite Star Wars quotes has new meaning in these COVID times. Happy Star Wars Day! May the Fourth be with you
12.01.2022 Postcards! The most underrated piece of marketing material around, but one of the handiest (in my humble opinion). They're even handier when you can print up to 25 different images on the front of each card (the reverse side needs to remain the same throughout the entire quantity). Think of the possibilities? Postcards are perfect for a range of businesses - to say thanks, congratulations, happy birthday, hello - anything really!... These were recently completed for Stroud Homes Fraser Coast, Stroud Homes Bundaberg and Stroud Homes Gympie

10.01.2022 Need to create an advertisement? I can help you out. Give me a shout and we'll sort it out (see what I did there? Just add copywriter to my resume too, I'm a poet and I didn't even know it!...oh god, somebody stop me!) Pictured is a recent press advertisement for the fab team at Stroud Homes Fraser Coast.
10.01.2022 Ummm...where has September gone? Anyone else feel the same? It's been a busy month with sickness and a few big jobs on the books. A couple of branding projects, a huuuuugeee brand guidelines project, ads and social media graphics...phew! Anyway, here's some matching gift tags to the beach themed invites I posted earlier in the month. Available in my Etsy store now! ... https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/hellojadecreative
10.01.2022 Flashback Friday to a few months ago and this beautiful visual identity that I had the pleasure of working on for Kaitlyn at Activ8 Exercise Physiology. Kait came to me upon recommendation from another wonderful client. Based on the Sunshine Coast, Kait was embarking on establishing her own business. Her goal was to create an identity that would capture the ethos of her business and the spirit of her stunning beachside location. ... Whilst Kait's core client base is on the more mature end of the age scale, Kait was hoping to appeal to a younger demographic too, as she also offers Pilates and would like to build on that side of her business in the future. In designing the logo, I wanted to inject a sense of her coastal location through the use of the 'wave' line and colour palette. We also wanted to highlight the figure 8 as it symbolises harmony, peace and regeneration all of which can happen through health and well-being.
10.01.2022 We don't all have the budget to create a bespoke website when we launch our businesses. Steph from Stephanie Jane Beauty had gone the DIY approach, using WIX to build her first website but soon got frustrated with the process. She wasn't ready to invest in a big build, but needed some help to get it working effectively. That's where I came in! Steph asked if I could help spruce up her WIX site to get it functioning better for both users and her business. I'm not an advocate ...for WIX, I have used it and am familiar with it. It serves it's purpose but is limited. A custom built site, by a skilled web designer/developer will always outweigh a WIX site in terms of its performance and benefits for your business. But,I also acknowledge that we're all at different stages of our journey and we need to start somewhere! Anyway, whilst creating WIX websites is not within my primary list of services, I can certainly help tidy yours up if you're struggling. PS...This recent work has also inspired me to upskill in the area of Web Development and Design. I'm currently learning all the things with Nikki from Seedling Digital, an absolute powerhouse when it comes to website design and development. So watch this space!
08.01.2022 Excited to wrap up another fab project yesterday for the uber-talented Kirsty Anderson Artworks. If you're a Gladstone local you're probably family with Kirsty's stunning watercolour paintings inspired by the natural beauty of Australia’s flora and fauna. Kirsty had a pretty clear picture of what she wanted. Together we refined her vision to create an elegant, personal logo. Simple and uncomplicated, bringing focus to her work. We then complimented the logo with earthy col...ours that work alongside her artwork and the Australian native's that she loves to paint. The next steps are to work through print collateral - lots of cool things in the works here so stay tuned!
08.01.2022 Set your alarm! LAUNCHING AT 7PM TONIGHT! I've so enjoyed working on this little project with Alanna Jane Millinery & Accessories. I think we've come up with some fab earrings (if I do say so myself ). Alanna has worked so hard hand-making each individual piece - whilst I just drew some cool shapes and patterns that could be turned into beautiful mini works of art. ... I have been wearing a few different designs over the past week and they are so comfortable and light. You hardly know you have them on. Can't wait for you to see them!
07.01.2022 If you're an earring lover, you need one of these in your life. The gorgeous Alanna from Alanna Jane Millinery & Accessories has come up with these awesome earring stands. If you normally wear studs (like I do), this stand is the bomb! And, it's only $49 dollar bucks!
06.01.2022 Ever heard of a natural pool? Neither had I up until a few months ago. Emily and Glen approached me (through a recommendation on a local community group page) to create a logo for their natural pool and pond business. They had a very clear idea of what they wanted, they just needed some help to bring it together. If you've never looked into a natural pool, it's definitely worth some research. They are absolutely beautiful and if you need more information or advice the team at Eco Billabongs should be your first stop. They live and breathe all things natural pools and ponds. Check out their page Eco Billabongs for more info. Trust me, you're going to want a natural pool!
06.01.2022 Heard the term sub mark but have no idea what it means? A sub mark is essentially a simplified version of your logo. It pulls elements of your logo to create a condensed, slightly different layout that is completely recognisable to your primary logo. Why do you need them? Quite simply, they are a great alternative to your main logo, providing versatility to your branding. They can be used as a secondary design element or used in place of your main logo for situations where ...your main logo can't be used - i.e. website favicon (the little image in the tab bar), small stickers, a watermark for images...the possibilities are endless. This sub mark was created for Activ8 Exercise Physiology
04.01.2022 An ode to Spring. A little ditty by yours truly. "Warmth is in the air, pollen too. You make me sneeze, but I still love you."
02.01.2022 Another fabulous example of postcards doin' their thing! These beautiful gift cards came up a treat and will be the perfect addition to a gorgeous gift from Alanna Jane Millinery & Accessories
01.01.2022 It's been a productive day in the studio today...mainly because it's too freakin' cold to be out doing anything else except gulping coffee and biccies in front of the heater. I've had a few logo projects on the go of late, as well as my usual corporate work. I look forward to sharing more of these over the coming weeks but for now, here's my vision and keywords for a new client. I love the colours! (even though it's a little brighter than originally intended)
