22.01.2022 Join my dear, learned & highly experienced friend (& local), My Holland, as she leads you through ways you can help yourself with EQ during Covid-19. Emotional intelligence (otherwise known as emotional quotient or EQ) is the ability to understand, use, and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathise with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict. This will be a helpful seminar as building on such abilities come in... handy at any time in a startup when you're wearing many hats, financially under pressure & stressed because you're flying by the seat of your pants most of the time (believe me, I know!). No doubt, the pandemic & subsequent global lockdown has added many additional layers of complexity to your already mounting layers of stressors in the innovation & startup spaces. I'm certain spending time online with My will provide way more than it costs you in terms of time & effort. Join the seminar online by registering on the link below.

10.01.2022 Hi everyone, I was hoping to have the website - HELLO ORARA VALLEY live in April or early May, but life has intervened in this unstable, strange COVID-19 #climate and its running way behind schedule. This is a #LOVE #JOB, but I'm hoping to spend way more time on it this month - May to July - for a July or August release . Will keep you all posted! I do apologise for the delay. It's about all of us though & as sad as I am that I'm fiscally challenged (it costs A LOT to setup... domains, websites, manage it etc) and time poor atm, I am keeping my eye on #why I'm doing this. I'm trying to establish something that's easy to use, looks good, informative to help drive business to our #local businesses, inform locals during times of crisis & assist in tourism generation. The website also needs to be robust to not date too fast, safe re data security, diverse and inclusive. It's important to do it once and do it well and be here well beyond the #bushfires, #floods, #drought and #coronavirus #crisis for the greater regional #good. It's about working #together in #bushfirerecovery because #togetheranythingispossible. #OraraValley residents and businesses are diverse and we each have something important to contribute to our valley. We are survivors. We are proactive, resilient, talented, innovative, caring, giving and resourceful. I hope this project acts as a centralised point to showcase all of this to locals and visitors alike. If you can think of anything you want the website to be able to provide as a #service for you, or if there's any comments about how you'd like it to look, please comment ASAP below as I'm at the point end of the project now. But I relish input, so please comment / suggest / interact . Anyone interested in helping to setup a virtual food coop as part of this process - please say yes below this post or inbox please. A food coop must be a team based approach or it won't be a coop..... There is NO WAY this could be done alone if trying to juggle other projects (which I am). If you have a business you wish to add to the #hellooraravalley website, inbox me here, call Tracy Chapman on 0408919733 or add your name below in the comments with your website, phone number and hashtags to your social pages. We can do this together. It's not about me, it's about WE, it's about saying #hellooraravalley
10.01.2022 Full moons and Australian Wildlife: Hi Everyone, #bushtuckerbox is asking people to slow down on roads during full moon phases. The full moon phase is #NOW and #bushtuckerbox has seen a large number of mainly male dead possums on roads in the Orara Valley on the Coffs Coast over the past five days leading up to the full moon :( Many animals are way more active during a full moon phase. Many speculate it is because the light makes them feel safe....We are not so sure... Th...e high incidence of male wallaby, roos and possums leads us to believe there is more to this than we currently know and we think this warrants further study. Type in effects of a full moon on Australian Wildlife on the internet and you get very little information showing up in search engines :( Regardless of what we know or do not know re the WHY, we can say without any hesitation that many nocturnal animals are way more active during the full moon phases and many become victims on our roads as a consequence. Many #animals are way more active post #bushfires and #drought as they have to move further in search for food, new homes or mates. #bushtuckerbox is urging people to BE AWARE AND SLOW DOWN whilst driving at night to prevent injuring or killing our precious wildlife, injuring themselves and damaging motor vehicles. If you do hit any native animal or find one injured, please call #WIRES on 1300 094 737 or your local wildlife rescue service. Please do not drive off and leave the animal you have hit on the road. We are disturbed people do not care enough to stop and check the welfare of the animal they have hit, or care enough to remove the deceased animal off the road to avoid other animals being hit if feeding off carcasses etc. #wildlifematters #animals #weareone #wildlife #fauna #bush #australia #driving #fullmoon
08.01.2022 You don't need to spend a huge amount on chocolate Easter bunnies for Easter. Remember the WHY behind this time - the symbolism of new life and rebirth - the resurrection of Jesus and the symbolism of eggs and bunnies in that mix.... Why not stop buying just a little of what you normally would at this time of year and channel that money into something fine, as a symbol of WHY this time of year is so important to so many humans.... By nurturing one of Australia's most fragile... and threatened animals - The Greater Bilby - you will be embracing this important calendar event and actually doing something important to move beyond the symbolism. By adopting a Greater Bilby, you will help bring new life to the Australian desert - our true Australian outback - and protecting them in the process, because they're in a secure environment and they are being extensively researched in this environment to learn even more about them than we currently know. Greater bilbies were reintroduced into the Arid Recovery Reserve - an independent not-for-profit running a 123 km2 wildlife reserve in South Australia’s arid north - in 2000, and with your help can continue to thrive. As I said, proceeds from your donation will go towards on-going monitoring and research of the Greater Bilby. Adopting a greater bilby is not only a great gift for Australia’s future at Easter (or anytime time frankly), but also as a gift for a friend. A TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation gives you, or a friend, a digital certificate and updates on this fragile species, but it's a great way to channel an important life lesson, by embracing the true symbolism behind Easter (in a non-anthropocentric, ecotherapeutic way) to #helpushelpthem . Click the link below and leave a name of a friend or family member in the message box if it's a gift for someone you love . #empathy #bushtuckerbox #wildlife #bilby #easter #ecowarrior #easter2021 #wildlifematters
07.01.2022 Hurry up and SLOW DOWN PEOPLE!!! Yesterday afternoon a lovely Nana Glen family rescued a young Echidna who'd been hit out the front of a property at 788 Bucca Road. 'Spiney Spike' was on his back, in shock and unable to turn himself over. The people that hit this SLOW MOVING echidna just drove on by, as did others who saw it injured on the road! #bushtuckerbox has been appalled at the number of fatalities and injuries of our region's precious wildlife. Further, disturbingl...y, there's many that seem to be comfortable with the idea of hitting and injuring or killing wildlife on our roads and driving on by.... This Echidna was lucky because the family driving behind all those that drove around the injured Echidna, stopped and picked him up. He was then rescued by #wires and taken into care. Luckily after a vet check, Spiney Spike was able to be released after the traffic reduced considerably on Bucca Road tonight. He was taken a few hundred meters into bushland off the side of the road and observed, before being left to tuck into some grubs and ants. Please slow down. You do not own the road, we SHARE THE ROAD with other animals. They're entitled to have a good, safe, & stress free life too. Our #wildlifematters. It's not just about you (& if it is, go see a psychologist as it's probably personality related...). SLOW DOWN. BE PRESENT AND MINDFUL WHILST DRIVING. #echidna #wildlifeandcars #wildlife #HelpUsHelpThem #weareone
05.01.2022 Spring brings new life to our beautiful #oraravalley, but wildlife were heavily impacted in our region due to the devastating & far reaching 2019-2020 bushfires. This unfortunately, meant vast tracks of bushland, verge, farmland & domestic clearing took place, removing thousands upon thousands of hollow homes for wildlife, trees that would normally make safe nesting sites & ground cover that normally would have provided safe nesting sites for equally precious ground dwelling... animals. Whether you understand it or not, #WeAreOne. There's a delicate symbiosis/ balance between our natural environments & human habitats....You just have to look around and see our native bee and hovar fly populations have plummeted in many areas throughout the valley, to appreciate how delicate this balance is....This sets of chain reactions many don't understand, but in time will feel the impacts of... So this is a great time for you all to think about providing safe, nurturing feeding and breeding spaces for our precious #wildlife in your domestic gardens & on our farms and verges. These may well prove to be invaluable for the much needed bounce back...It's certainly the WHY re #bushtuckerbox - providing you all with FREE wildlife friendly feed available 24/7 from a storage box Orara Way, Glenreagh. Please #HelpUsHelpThem . They need us all now, more than ever. #wildliferecovery #wildliferescue #wildlifematters #habitat #australia #actlocalthinkglobal #ActNow https://www.abc.net.au//costas-corner....28th-aug/12602282

04.01.2022 This is a very important list. Read it. Understand it. I wish to push further as I want REAL TIME DATA LOGGERS ON ALL PUMPS ACROSS WATER CATCHMENTS for all irrigation and pump licences. If you don't have transparency then you have nothing. We see water breaches time and time again across CATCHMENTS EVERYWHERE. You don't have to be a mathematical genius to observe the current plant stocking rates across CATCHMENTS is unsustainable and in many cases, far outstrips the related... water licensing qoutas under said licences. We can see the current situation on self reporting DOESN'T WORK. There needs to be a higher legislative power attached to monitoring and it needs to be undertaken in real time and taken out of farmers and businesses hands. This is and will continue to be my push going forward. Sadly, without it honesty and transparency are merely words. Words are just words without applied accountability, monitoring, measurement, recording re same, analysis and legislative parameters to keep everyone that should be held to account HONEST, RELIABLE AND TRANSPARENT. Nothing more. Nothing less.

01.01.2022 It's 2.50am and 49knt winds...That = 90.75km/hr at 2.50am. VERY UNPLEASANT. Wildlife / nesting bird search at day break. There's many baby birds that we know are currently hatching that will likely not be able to sustain this kind of wind. It will have been a gale for 24hrs soon. Please keep your eyes open for dislodged, fallen, injured etc birds and nests over the coming days. Equally, assess fallen trees and check hollow branches for deep sleeping microbats, dislodged & fallen adult marsupials & their babies. Wildlife struggle in terrible / abnormal weather too, please keep your eyes peeled & call your local wildlife rescue agency such as #WIRES for #wildliferescue if you come across a rescue.
