25.01.2022 Day 7 Townsville & Magnetic Island As we move into Tropical North Queensland we start to see the oceans becoming bluer, the trees thicker and greener and the skies filled with glorious sunshine. We are just loving the Winter Sun in Queensland. First stop in Townsville is a walk up Castle Hill. With spectacular views of the town and ocean ahead, a great spot to eat our Bowen Mangoes. We see the towns famous skyscraper the Sugar Shaker, named caused the top of the tower looks like an old sugar dispenser. We also see the Reef Headquarters Aquarium, the Cowboys stadium and Magnetic Island in the distance. Later in the day we head on a 20 min ferry to Magnetic Island. You can spend the day fishing, sailing, horse riding, diving, snorkelling or spend the night in the many island resorts everything from Backpackers to 5 star luxury.

23.01.2022 Day 1 Destination Gold Coast. Weve seen the ads golden sands stretching out over 57 kms, the many high rises, the glitz and the glamour. 22.01.2022 Day 3: Thank god its a short drive today, we had one too many cocktails at Eagle Street. Today were off to the Sunny Sunshine Coast! It encompasses beach resorts, surf spots and rural hinterland in southern Queensland. It stretches from the coastal city of Caloundra, near Brisbane, north to the Cooloola section of the Great Sandy National Park, home to multicoloured sand dunes, mangrove forests, and shallow lakes. Throughout you can find wineries, hiking tracks, a mountain ...range, Islands, countless attractions and beaches and shopping - Weve only got one day so weve jam packed as much as we can fit! You definitely need more time here to truly see it all! Morning Activities: Leonie is headed to Australia Zoo, Sarah is checking out Sealife Aquarium and Katies jumping out of a perfectly good plane! Lunch: Hastings Street and giving the company credit card a little workout. Afternoon: Surf lessons and a fishing charter. Evening: Seafood fresh off the trawler from the Mooloolaba fish market on the beach followed by home made gelato!

18.01.2022 Day 4 Hervey Bay! (Finally, SOMEONE forgot to put fuel in the car) Today we are checking out the town, having a squizz at the markets on the esplanade and pier. Were a little early for the Whale watching here which starts in July and goes all the way through to November. So instead weve decided to head over to the gorgeous Fraser Island! From sun baking at Lake Mackenzie, taking a dip in the Champagne Pools (No, not that kind of Champagne), floating down a lazy river and ...exploring the 1935 ship wreck amongst some of the world renowned white sandy beaches; your holiday here will be jam packed with action and exploration. 11.01.2022 Some of you many know that I (Leonie) was supposed to go to New York this month, but not to be. Instead we headed off to Hervey Bay for a long weekend. What a great weekend! Spent first day checking out Hervey Bay with a bike ride to the Urangan Pier and today headed over to Fraser Island for a full day 4WD tour with Fraser Explorer Tours and even managed a quick flight around part of the island. 08.01.2022 Day 2: Well, we checked out of our B&B in the Hinterland and we are onto our next location! We had so much fun even the boss wanted to come (thats what we get for posting all over social media) Things didnt work out with Hugh and Chris so we had the extra room anyway. Next stop, BRISBANE! ... As Gold Coasters we tend to overlook little old Brisbane as a holiday spot but youll be shocked at what weve found! There really is something for everyone here! Picnic in the parks, river front walks, Markets, Whale Watching, hiking, shows, gardens, Museums, Restaurants, Bars, views, Shopping The Broncos, you name it, Brisbanes got it! We know, youd rather be in Europe right now Definitely check out Eat Street and get around the abundance of street food inspired from all around the world Just because we cant go to Spain or Mexico right now doesnt mean you cant eat 20 servings of Paella or 18 tacos- tried and tested it fixes the depression of no overseas travel (temporarily) If its adrenaline youre after why not strap on a harness and climb the Storey Bridge for breathtaking views of the city or rent a Lime Scooter for a zoomy city tour? Escaping the city is easy when weve got Moreton Island and Stradbroke Island on our doorstep. There are resorts you can stay in and spend your getaway lounging on the white sandy beaches that will feel like your own private oasis. Tangalooma Island features shallow shipwrecks paced there by the Government over the years between 1963 and 1984 to act as a safe anchorage spot for boats in the bay. 08.01.2022 Well, we just couldn’t handle the country music and terrible jokes and longer so Leonie and I bushed her. Today will be Katie’s last day here with us before she heads back to her hillbilly Central Queensland. We’d like to wish her all the happiness in her next chapter and best of luck for the future. After working from home for 6 weeks where Leonies commute went from 45 minutes to 30 seconds, Sarahs new and improved uniform resembled pyjamas and sweat pants and Katies new morning alarm was set at 8:59AM, Sarah, Leonie, and Katie are officially back in the office ready to tackle whatever The Rona has to throw at us next. We would like to thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts for your patience, understanding and compassion over ...the past few months while we push through this together. Youve been nothing but fabulous and helpful and are the reason were still here and ready to get you travelling again as soon as possible! 05.01.2022 Day 5: The Capricorn Coast (AKA Katies home town) We have one very excited traveller with us today, we are on our way to Katies home town, she is very excited to show us around. After leaving Hervey Bay we travelled through Bundaberg (had ourselves a quick tour at the Bundy distillery) then via the beautiful coastal towns of 1770, Agnes Waters and Tannum Sands. As we arrive into Rockhampton we are greeted by what looks like a bull on a roundabout.. Holy Cow! Where in the ...world are we? Oh thats right the Beef Capital of Australia. Driving through town we are greeted by 6 Bull statues representing the six main breeds in the area. After having a little wander around Mt Archer National Park we headed over to the Capricorn Caves. These are Queenslands largest limestone caves, which are just incredibull. Dinner was at the Great Western Hotel, where we ate a feast and watched a rodeo live in the arena. It was so amooooosing. We stayed the night in the beautiful beachside town of Yeppon, aka Katies mums house, after just one (five) too many drinks! In Yeppoon we thought about heading over the Great Keppel Island or driving along the beach to grab our own personal slice of heaven, or even Going for a dip in a fresh water river in some rainforest but we decided to pack the car up and head off North for day 6!

03.01.2022 Day 10 ... The Outback We got to the top of the state, so I guess its time to head home Via the Outback of course! Next stop Longreach and Winton. Being the wonderful, all knowing travel agents, that we are, we thought to enjoy a history lesson at the Qantas Founders Museum and head over to the Aust. Stockmans Hall of Fame. After relaxing on a sunset cruise on the Thompson River paddle boat, we HAD to celebrate our successful travels with a FEW bevies at the local pub. E...arly the next morning (not too early) we travelled into Winton to check out the dinosaur fossils. Did you know that the Aust. Age of Dinosaur Museum is home to the largest collection of Australian dinosaur fossils? We cant believe our trip is almost over.. will the troopie make it home? See more
