25.01.2022 Have just restocked the shelves at Darling Street Espresso, cnr Athol and Darling Streets in Moonee Ponds. Apart from great coffee they have an excellent menu. I highly recommend the eggplant side featuring Hells Breath - a very creative combination!

25.01.2022 So when Columbus bumped into the West Indies when he was looking for the East Indies and pepper, he decided to cut his losses and took some chillies back to Europe - and didnt they take off! Thank you Christopher. To find out more about the humble chilli there is a Laneway Learning class coming up. Details at LL

25.01.2022 Making up a batch of chilli honey dressing to take to the Birregurra Weekend Festival. Will be there on Sat 13th. Truly a fabulous community event - the best animal farm Ive ever seen, fabulous art show, dog jumping, wood chopping, men in kilts, poo lotto, and sensational devonshire teas with the best scones made by my mate Prue. An amazing event put together by a fairly small community. Keep driving past Geelong, turn south before you get to Colac. Runs Fri night, Sat and Sun.

24.01.2022 All eyes on the weather for next Sunday at Sunbury. Does that mean Bury the Sun??? Hope not. Will be hanging out in Brooke St this year. A great community event with an excellent range of activities on the stages. Bringing some Honey Chilli Dressing for summer salads and smashed avocadoes. And doing a test run of a new product so hoping theres lots of people willing to try and offer their feedback.

24.01.2022 was at the MCG today (dont get to say that too often) setting up for the Indian Summer Festival - of cricket. The place looks stunning! so full of colour. Hells Breath is looking a bit pale in its red livery. This is really going to be something. the whole place is truly fizzing and its just set up day@!!! So, im not so good on the details of cricket, but i certainly can see a celebration. So perfect for the season. And the weather forecast is perfect. Chilli and cricket - who would have thought!!

24.01.2022 Its Wattle Festival time again. This Sunday 25 August at Hurstbridge. The people of Hurstbridge put together an excellent community event with most attractions along the main road. Hells Breath will be at the market place set up at the Primary School with a full complement of chilli and spice goodies - and a few jars of marmalade

23.01.2022 such a happy event everyone is doing cartwheels. with a little bit of the festive spirit or a flash mob we might be all cart wheeling on Thursday evening

23.01.2022 Cant wait to the weekend for your first curry fix?? Check out the Chicken Chettinad recipe from Himanshi Munshaw Luhar in this Herald Sun article about this weekends Curry Festival! https://www.heraldsun.com.au//2cc504ce2517915c5137ba1c26de

22.01.2022 Im taking Hells Breath to the Eltham Twilight Market. Fingers crossed for perfect weather.

21.01.2022 A perfect weather forecast for a big day at Ballarat. This is a spectacular event around Lake Wendouree. The setting is spectacular - water views from wherever you are. Its a lovely 5km stroll to circumnavigate the Lake with lots of spots to sit and have a drink, something to eat or catch up with folks. Hells Breath will be in N zone on the south coast.

20.01.2022 Getting ready for the Kilcunda Lobster Festival this Sunday, 27 Jan. Kilcunda is a tiny little hamlet overlooking the Bass Strait. Home to a pub with great views, an excellent produce store and a spectacular trail which can take you to Wonthaggi or west back towards Phillip Island. And once a year hosts the Lobster Festival. People come from all over for the chance to win a crayfish on the spinning wheel. While they wait for their chance of a delicious supper they can call in to Hells Breath and sample some of the range. Weather forecast is promising us a lovely day. Way better than the 39 deg that was last year.

20.01.2022 Guess which one is my class - Hint. Its not the zombie one. So now in the process of selecting some seasonal fruit and veg to pickle up for sampling at the class - some garlicky mushrooms, a japanese combination, mango and red cabbage.

20.01.2022 Hmmm. Dance up a storm or cook up a storm. Can I do both please.

20.01.2022 Time to dust off the kilt and indulge in my Scottish heritage. Its the Celtic Festival at Portarlington this long weekend. Might not seem a natural fit - chilli and a celebration of all things Celtic, but it works. And Im looking forward to catching up with Kay, Russell and Ken of Celtic Bakery and hopping into some Fat Rascals shortbread, my absolute favourites from a great range of treats.

18.01.2022 That great team at the Grassroots Market have put together the last market for 2019 - tomorrow, Sunday 1 Dec in downtown Upwey. Hells Breath will be there with lots of chilli goodies (and some non-chilli goodies). Got some of the Honey Chilli Dressing for summer salads and smashed avocados. And some super dooper news from the Grassroots gals - they have some financial support from the Yarra Ranges Council to put on the Foothills Festival in 2020. Loved it in 2018 so looking forward to coming back in 2020. Congratulations Jacqui and CJ

16.01.2022 Well, even if I say so myself - this is delicious. And very easy to prepare. Yoghurt Harissa Chicken 1 - 2 teas (15g) Hells Breath Harissa... 150g thick yoghurt 1 clove garlic, finely chopped 15g fresh mint, chopped 2 tabs olive oil 800g chicken thigh fillets or "lovely legs" Combine the harissa, yoghurt, mint, garlic and 1 tabs of the oil. Add the chicken and marinate for an hour or more if you have the time. Add 1 tabs of oil to a fry pan and cook the chicken for 5 -10 mins per side (depends on thickness). Just as the chicken is finishing cooking add whatever marinade you have left and gently cook for a couple of minutes. Serve with a salad of rice with chopped red capsicum and spinach mixed thru. Yum Yum.

15.01.2022 Its Wattle Festival at Hurstbridge time again. This Sunday 26 Aug. A great community celebration and welcome to spring. Ive made up a batch of the hyper-hot Directors Cut for any chilli maniacs who would like to try, plus all the other Hells Breath range - maybe a few jars in a bag for dear old Dad for Fathers Day? Apart from chilli theres a staggeringly big display of BMX bikes, steam train rides out to Hurstbridge, music, yarn bombing around the village, food, plants and happiness. And the weather gods have promised great weather. Yippee!

13.01.2022 Wow those hills people are hardy types. A market in the middle of winter!!! Hells Breath will be there warming things up with some delicious chilli. Come by for a taste and chat.

13.01.2022 Marinated Cheese class is on again - 8pm July 25, Brunswick Mechanics Institute, Brunswick. So I started tinkering around with my flavour palette. Made up a new one for the class to try - based on some classic greek ingredients - lemon, oregano, garlic, black pepper and black olives. And theres the favourites - chilli, fresh herbs, lemon. For registration go to Laneway Learning and apart from my cheese workshop youll find heaps of other great classes.

13.01.2022 Knew I'd find a use for all those metres of chilli fabrics gathered over past years. Just hadn't guessed that it would be face masks. So, for the best dressed chilli lover - a chilli mask!

13.01.2022 Its not that Ive run out of chilli fabric but theres so many other fun prints out there I couldnt resist. And felt compelled to do some bee-themed ones. Then when I feel a bit bored Ill play with the specialist range. Now that Ive built up some finished product here in the sweat shop, my reusable, washable, triple layer artworks are avialable for sale - 3 masks for$30. Back to the sewing machine....

12.01.2022 Hells Breath is off to the hills again for the Grassroots Market at Upwey next Sunday, 29 Sep. A favourite event - always a good yak with the ALP stand next door, David the beekeeper and of course, the lovely team at Saori Japanese Sauces. And well done to Jacqui and JP for putting together a top class community based event.

12.01.2022 So much colour and movement and flavour! And that crazy photo booth. Hells Breath is back at the Curry Festival at Dandenong Market, Sun 1 Sep. Hmmm.....wonder if there are any Dads who would like a pack of chilli goodies for their special day?

12.01.2022 Clearly Ive led a sheltered life. My first experience of a tractor pull was just last year at the Trentham Spudfest. Its an absolutely fascinating concept. So good that Im going back. There are a couple of venues in Trentham for the Festival - all to be enjoyed. Hells Breath and the Tractor Pull will be at the fabulously restored Trentham Railway Station. If Im not at my stall Ill be on the station platform cheering on my favourite tractor

11.01.2022 Just before this lock down I made a dash to the fabric store and gathered up some beaut prints - polka dots, elephants, bulldozers, Oz flag, bunnies, gay rainbow, little dogs, koalas, florals and of course, chillies. Let me know if anything takes your fancy. $32 for 3 masks posted to you.

11.01.2022 Hells Breath for chilli lovers and lovers of chilli lovers fully supports the Herb and Chilli Festivals offer in celebration of Valentines Day. Look forward to meeting those who take up the offer at the Festival 16/17 March, or maybe the Knees Up with Normie Rowe on the Saturday night.

10.01.2022 Off to the Riverside Market at Anglesea on Sunday. What a way to spend a long weekend! But weather forecast is good and the fresh sea air will be a tonic.

09.01.2022 My rotten, fat, resident possum decided to sample the last of my self sown pumpkins growing in the garden. It wasnt quite ready to pick but I figured he shouldnt get to eat the whole lot, so I salvaged what I could and have made a batch of wholesome soup. Very easy - cook off a chopped onion in some oil with a heaped teaspoon of Hells Breath Moroccan Marinade. Add about 750g of chopped pumpkin and about 500ml of stock. Cook till the pumpkin has softened - about 20mins. Blitz with a stick blender. Serve up with a spoonful of yoghurt and a sprinkle of fresh herb - coriander/parsley/mint. Soups and puddings - about the only good thing to say about winter

09.01.2022 Im off to the cricket. Who would have thought. Will have to do a bit of homework on whos who. Just hope they like chilli relish. Hmmmm. Now that Bradman guy, is he still playing?

09.01.2022 Hmmmm. Might not be so sunny this coming Saturday at Lorne Lions Foreshore Market, but it will be fresh sea air, and more of it on Sunday at the Anglesea Riverside Market. Leaving the city pollution behind me and taking Hells Breath to those enjoying a Cup Day long weekend.

08.01.2022 Mushrooms were on special this week so I gathered some up to prepare with Hells Breath Caramelised Onions and a bit of Hells Breath Worcestershire Sauce. So easy to do. Wipe the mushrooms with a slightly damp cloth to remove any of the growing medium that might be on them. Cut out the stem. Put some of the Caramelised Onion over the gills, and a few drips of Worcestershire Sauce and bake at 180 deg for about 10 - 15 mins (or pan fry). I often choose the really big mushrooms - main course size - perfect dinner served with a salad and chips, but this time I did a mixture of sizes. I think the tiny ones would be a great finger food option.

07.01.2022 Off to share in the colour and movement of the Indian Festival at Queen Victoria Market this weekend. Will get some chilli sauce into the troops and see if it can make them jump like these guys.

07.01.2022 So here we are in 2020. Off to Sorrento to celebrate with the locals. Looking forward to the classic cars - sure the bongo van would fit in well there. Hmmmm, maybe Ill just concentrate on the chilli.

07.01.2022 Its soup season! This one is souper easy and you can eat your soup bowl. 1kg butternut pumpkin, peeled and cut into pieces 2 onions, chopped finely 2 teas Hells Breath Moroccan Marinade... 2 tabs oil 2 teas stock powder water small cob loaves/bread rolls to serve soup in Cook the onions in oil for a couple of mins til softening. Add the Hells Breath Moroccan Marinade. Cook for another minute. Add the pumpkin, about 1lt boiling water and stock powder. Cook at a gentle boil till the pumpkin has softened - about 20mins. Blitz with a stick blender or put in the food processor and blend till smooth. Cut the tops off your cobs/rolls and tear out the soft bread centre. Serve your soup in your cobs/rolls. A glob of plain thick yoghurt goes really well with this soup. And your soup bowl is delicious, maybe a little messy, but then you dont have to wash up.

01.01.2022 If I survive the heat promised for tomorrow I will be heading off to Lorne on Saturday to celebrate Australia Day at a beach market. Not politically correct on a couple of fronts, but the good people of Lorne may enjoy some chilli with their long weekend holiday BBQs
