11.01.2022 URGENT HELP REQUIRED DONATIONS NEEDED PLEASE SHARE These bush fires are just too terrible. The impact they have made to our precious wildlife will go on for... many years, even decades to come. It really pains my heart but we urgently need to help our treasured wildlife. It is why I was put on this planet, to help wildlife in their time of need. We are setting up sanctuary areas in fire areas to supply feed for wombats, kangaroos, possums and other natives for months to come which comes with a huge workload and is very costly as you can imagine. We anticipate lots and lots of calls for help over the coming weeks and months. We know we can make a real impact to their survival. We just need your help! We need to raise $50,000 today. $20 will cover a bale of hay and water for the native animals with no food or water. Can you answer our call? Can you answer the call of our precious animals calling out for help? Just $5 from each and every one of you would get us to goal. It’s just the cost of a cup of coffee but one that will help save a life. It will be the best $5 you have spent this week. I’m crossing everything we can reach out goal. Please donate now: https://willow-wood-sanctuary-incorporated.giveeasy.org/urg
10.01.2022 During the recent fire crisis there have been many heroes, particularly those at the end of a hose. Jodie (Lobethal Logistics Team Leader) has excelled that to ...the point of being a Legend. You will never meet a more Dinky Di Aussie Sheila anywhere. She calls a spade a spade, swears like a trooper, enjoys a beer at the end of the day. That's what people see on the outside, her heart and knowledge is where the Legendary status starts. The area she looks after is from Cuddlee Creek, through to Brukunga. She knows every family, down every street, who lost what on their Property. What each Family needs each day in their daily care pack. Who is vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, likes and dislikes. She then has an army of volunteers that sort the food into the daily care packs, sorts through all the other donations, drivers who deliver out to the Properties that can't get to Lobethal. They broke their record today and delivered 87 care packs. She would give the shirt off her back, if asked. She is the most Community minded spirit that I have met and I hope she gets some sort of award for it. See more
10.01.2022 I am sorry, but I have to have a RANT on 2 subjects. 1. TOURIST We can understand that people want to go for a drive and see the devistation that these fires ca...used. You need to see it, to understand the amount of destruction. Please be mindful of others on the road. For example: Today after I collected much asked for goods for Lobethal, the shortest trip was up Gorge Road. Now anybody that has travelled this road, knows it is double lines up past the Cuddlee Creek turn off. On leaving Lower North East Road, I was behind a little blue car. It decided to travel at 25 kph all the way up. There were parking bays they could have pulled into, but no. If you are a slower vehicle, please be considerate and find a place to pull over and let vehicles behind you pass. That person behind you maybe a CFS Volunteer answering their pager and could be on their way to try and save someone's house and/or lives. 2. DONATIONS The amount of donations being given is phenomenal. Please be mindful of the conditions of the donations. Clothing. When donating clothing, please be mindful of stains, tears or general condition. Each bit of clothing is vetted and those that are dirty, torn, stained are binned as it is not expected for someone to wear them. If you wouldn't wear them down the street, neither should they. Furniture. Needs to be clean and unstained. Not need of any repair. Be fully complete. For Example: Yesterday when dropping off a load to Lobethal RSL, a call came in for a lounge only. A property owner who had lost everything and staying in her daughter's garage in Hillbank, asked for a lounge only to be delivered. I told Jodie, I could deliver it on the way home. She had a donation of a lounge with 2 matching recliner rockers. She also had a single lounge. 1 of the recliner rockers had be spoken for, so she said that this lady could have the lounge. We got to the storage area. It was found that 1 of the recliners had the back missing. The lounge also had the back missing and the other lounge that was there had 2 of the back cushions missing and those that was there was that badly stained that it couldn't even be used to put out on a porch. So instead of going to a Property owner, they had to be loaded up and put in a skip. This of course costs money that shouldn't have to be spent. The old saying of 'Something is Better than Nothing' shouldn't be used when choosing your donations. RANT OVER. Dave Cook See more
