13.01.2022 ***PLEASE SHARE*** **UPDATE: We have been informed no one has come forward to claim this dog. He will stay at Sydney Dogs and Cats Home while he recovers from a...n injury. He will be available for adoption if no one claims him* This dog was found somewhere in VICTORIA by some backpackers. But they drove all the way to Sydney before handing him in to a Vet. He's now at Sydney Dogs and Cats Home. Let's help him get back home by sharing him everywhere to find his owners. He is not microchipped, and is confident, loving and walks well on leash. The backpackers had no idea where in Victoria they found him, so his only chance to get back home is for us to share his gorgeous, lost face all over Facebook, and hope someone recognises him. If you know this dog, please contact Sydney Dog and Cats Home in NSW on 02 9587 9611 If you find a lost dog or cat, please do NOT remove them from the area they were found in. And remember to ALWAYS microchip your animals, to help them get back home safely. Good luck little dude Team SAFe
05.01.2022 ATTENTION: VERY IMPORTANT LETTER PLS SHARE FAR AND WIDE Here is an email I just received about my request to speak at a council meeting regarding the "Commmuni...ty" Animal Shelter. I have been denied the right to speak about the shelter. As well as not being allowed to speak at a public council meeting, I am also not allowed to attend the council briefing as only councillors and council staff are allowed to attend this closed meeting. This shows a lack of transparency by holding meetings behind closed doors. This council has discriminated against me as there were at least 2 speakers from the local community that spoke about the Rye boat ramp modifications (nothing to do with the animal shelter) at a council meeting on 13 February, 2017. I attended this meeting as this was where the petition for the animal shelter was tabled. How can this council allow some people to speak at a council meeting and not others? Many people have written to the council about having the animal shelter open to the public, but have not even received a response. I wanted to present my views about: * Why the shelter should be open to the public (as outlined in my petition). * Why the adoption process should be simplified (currently have to email shelter to get a 3 page adoption application, then send it to shelter, then wait for an appointment). This has to be done before you can even visit the pound. * Why there should be far more advertising of the animals for adoption by the shelter. * Why there should be a foster care program introduced in the community where residents can care for animals that are up for adoption. All these strategies will help to save the lives of our companion animals. See more
03.01.2022 It should be law that a vet scan and call the owners for pick up. The microchips are useless if a pet can be sent home with just anyone!!!
