24.01.2022 This is a nice transformation. Started by painting the wall. Then executed the customer's layout with boxes he built. Rewarding.

22.01.2022 Beth was happy with the new handrails. She liked the style and colour. Her only complaint was she should have had them done BEFORE she slipped and broke her foot. Good idea.

18.01.2022 Corrugated iron for a hotel room wall? No, some kind of 3D hologram wall paper with depth. Completely flat to touch.

16.01.2022 Friday afternoon and we knocked off early like the good tradies we are. And went to the local Kombucha bar to knock back a few cause we're hip. Met the owner Melissa from where else? California of course where even fungus is cool.

14.01.2022 You know those sleek toilets where the cistern is hidden in the wall? Do you know what happens in 10 years when the plastic part breaks inside? This. This is what happens. You pay a plumber to dismantle the wall just to fix a leaky toilet. Just say no to silly sleek.

13.01.2022 Beth had some rotting weather boards. What we didn't know was the extent of the damage. All the black in the wall structure is also rot. It had to go, piece by piece, working around the plumbing and electrical. Almost every bit of wood. And done without damaging the tile wall inside. Aside from a couple cracked tiles, the job is a total success.

12.01.2022 Coming to an apartment near you. Chinese-style door hinges. And jambless doors. Certainly cheaper but not easily repairable.

11.01.2022 Time for some creativity with these pics. They all seem the same: Tough people. How about someone mowing grass, arranging flowers, getting a massage? Umbrella drink and beach chair? C'mon, guys, think outside the ice box.

09.01.2022 I had the pleasure of working with designer Jane Brown on this. The brief was to convert a square teak table from the 70's into shelving. My skill combined with her eye for asymmetry.

09.01.2022 Today's fun. Client got two decals, one for each space. But she measured just one space. The other one, pictured, was 10cm narrower. I had to lower the seat and fiddle around because each picture is made from seven separate stickers.

05.01.2022 A long time customer wanted a couple new doors. She went to one of the big door companies. The bloke wrote her a quote and she paid a $600 deposit. Then the patronising started, the relationship soured, the delays began and she finally asked me to do the job. Unfortunately, the fine print of their contract says if she cancels, she owes them the whole $3,000. Watch out for these big outfits who use contract language to protect themselves and avoid having to do right by people.

03.01.2022 Rain against the doors was getting inside so I installed these prefab brackets and sheeted with roofing panels.

02.01.2022 Shrink wrapped mattress saves on shipping. Watch it pop.
