24.01.2022 Without adequate support and long-term accommodation options, life for people living in hotels remains uncertain. People living in hotels includes over 220 chi...ldren, over 500 women, and more than 1,100 single person households almost all of whom cant afford private rental accommodation, and will need a social housing option. We urge the government to provide support and housing options, both now and into the future. Read our media release for more comments >>> https://bit.ly/2ZxCFvE #socialhousing #endhomelessness

04.01.2022 This is such wonderful news, and will make a huge difference for many of the young people that we support! Concern Australia welcomes this announcement from the State Government. This is an insightful and forward-thinking decision by the Victorian Government that will make such a difference for thousands of people experiencing homelessness, and bring hope for the future in the midst of the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, says Concern Australia CEO Michelle Crawford. ...Through the work of our Steps Outreach Service and Inside Out programs, we see firsthand the impact that insecure housing and homelessness has on young people. On their behalf, we say thank-you to the Victorian Government for this welcome announcement, and commit to working with the Government and other agencies to support young people throughout the process and into the future. For many years Concern Australia has particularly appreciated the advocacy and representation that Housing Minister Richard Wynne has made on behalf of disadvantaged Victorians. There is still much more to be done, but this is a huge step in the right direction. #COVID19 #Homelessness #pandemic #crisis #accommodation #youngpeople #StepsOutreachService #InsideOut #SocialHousing #InThisTogether #Victoria

01.01.2022 Here is the 3rd prize entry in our Homelessness Photography Competition: 'Shadows' by Grace Costa from Caroline Chisholm Catholic College Here is her description of her image: 'Shadows, represents youth homelessness, as the black box or wall that is backing is boxing the subject in making them isolated and boxed away. The facial expression of the subject is another tell that the subject is in distress, the head is resting against the window with their eyes looking down. This facial expression is also shown in the reflection on the glass.'
