The Mill Bowral, Carousel Lifestyle and WILDfest are proud hosts of this sustainability and regeneration event.... details below! ***** 2040 Documentary Inspires First Ever ReGeneration Weekend in the Southern Highlands ... Damon Gameau’s documentary 2040 has inspired WILDfest and Carousel Lifestyle to partner together with Quarter Acre Farm to host the region’s first ever ReGeneration Weekend. From 6pm on Friday 25 October 2019, an exclusive screening of the film, 2040 will take place in The Mill’s courtyard and be followed up by a panel discussion including filmmaker - Damon Gameau, 2018 Bob Hawke Landcare Award winner - Charlie Arnott, Hamish Mackay Director of Biodynamics2024, 2018 Recipient of the National Individual Landcarer Award - David Marsh as well as Lizzie Buscaino from Piccolo Farm and Joanne Dodd from Quarter Acre Farm. On Saturday from 10am until 6pm, The Mill will come alive with more 2040 film screenings, sustainability workshops including Quarter Acre Farm’s Kickstarting Your Food Growing Adventure, expert speakers, local fresh produce for sale as well as artisan stalls to enable locals to be informed and take immediate action. Together with Hamish Mackay, a renowned biodynamic practitioner and educator, Charlie Arnott from Boorowa NSW, 2018 Bob Hawke Landcare Award recipient and recent winner of the delicious. Produce Award for Outstanding Innovation, Sustainability and Community, will also run two workshops at the event. More workshops are being added each week. 16.01.2022 It is with a very heavy heart that tonight we advise the much loved community fundraiser, the Recycled Designer Clothing Sale, will *NOT* be going ahead in 2020. Due to Covid19 measures and the current financial climate we, as a committee, decided it was best to hold off until 2021 when hopefully we will be back BIGGER and BETTER than ever. 15.01.2022 To anyone who attended or supported our clothing sale in 2019... THANK YOU! Because of you we were able to hand over $8,000 to Southern Highlands Association of Women last week. We are BACK in 2020 (*possibly* running a second sale day!) and we can not WAIT to make more of a difference in our local community this year. Although early in 2020 we are already looking for donations of top quality designer clothing (please no Rockmans, Big W, Kmart, Target, Millers etc) and in 20...20 we are also offering men’s top quality designer clothing. We are EXTREMELY happy to report that we surpassed all expectations for this year’s event and we BEAT our sales figures from 2018! Yes. WOW! So it is with great pleasure we let you know that thanks to the generosity of YOU ALL we are able to hand a cheque over to Southern Highlands Association of Women for a whopping $8,000!... This $8,000 will go DIRECTLY towards helping women and children here in the Southern Highlands. THANK YOU everyone for your continued support of this event. 08.01.2022 So why Helping with Heart you ask? Why the name and Facebook page change? After the success of last year’s clothing sale we committee members decided to commit to running a similar event this year, obviously! How could we not?! You asked and we DELIVERED! But, after the negative publicity around White Ribbon last year we decided that if this event was to run in the future, all funds raised needed to stay local. ... From this decision we thought it would be wise to open our committee up a bit, to broaden the scope for possible fundraising events in the future. We decided we could no longer be the clothing committee people... as much as we loved this title! From this, Helping with Heart was born. As a committee we decided this new name allowed us to express our desire to... uhhh... help with heart! We decided it allowed us to remain committed to our initial desire to help others with warmth and compassion. In changing our name we open up endless opportunities to help LOCALS. We are determined to make a difference in the area we all call home. Our beautiful Southern Highlands! So thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you on sale day! 02.01.2022 This year, we are so grateful to have the support of Wingecarribee Shire Council. We were successful in our grant application and have received a sum of money from them which will go a long way towards running what will hopefully be our BIGGEST clothing sale yet! And, side note - we will be offering Devonshire Tea throughout the day... for $8pp you can grab yourself some of the yummiest scones I’ve ever tried.... mmmmm!
