16.01.2022 Just wanted to share the highs and the lows of what we do.we received a lovely surprise inbox tonight saying Happy National Doggy Day! Here is our one in a million furbaby Roxy that we adopted from you in 2011! Roxy, a now 9 year old Terrier cross, was adopted from us as a puppy and as you can see from her photos has been loving life with her pawrents in Melbourne! But sad news was to follow as we were told Roxy lost her bestie a few months back Cadel, who was adop...ted from us by Roxy’s mum’s sister at the same time, had sadly lost his battle with cancer and his family are still understandably devastated We named Cadel after the Aussie Cadel Evans who won the Tour de France in the same year thinking that whoever adopted him would change it to something more mainstream like Max or Buddy but they didn’t and Del got to live his best life with 4 much-loved human children! 13.01.2022 How good is this??? Recent adoptee Jack is on duty today at Mildura Police Station as a freelance office Well-Being-Consultant! His proud mum Lauren Harmer had this to say: The decision to adopt was an easy one after being supported by SARG throughout the foster period. Jack instantly fitted right in with our family. We knew it was going to be a ‘foster failure’ right from the start and happily adopted Jack in July this year. Bringing a dog into the workplace creates an ins...tant buzz. The members see Jack and instantly smile and take a moment to enjoy his company. He absolutely enjoys the attention! Our job can be challenging and stressful. Having a fury friend in the building gives the members the opportunity to have a break from their tasks and enjoy the playfulness of a fury friend. Us SARG folk reckon all workplaces should adopt this fantastic idea!

12.01.2022 Nala - female Nova Scotia Retriever x Heeler 9-10 months old (DOB: 10/09/19) Meet Nala or Miss Busy Brain as her carer likes to call her! She’s an energetic young girl who would love an active household where she’d happily join you on your daily runs, or if you were to work full-time she’d love a similar-sized playful dog to hang out with as being alone for long periods of time doesn’t work for this social dog who’s used to having company. Nala is a proficient butterfly h...unter and has made it her job to round ‘em up and chase them from the yard must be the Heeler kicking in! She’s not a digger but likes to help out on occasion by pruning dead bits of foliage from her carer’s garden which she then leaves in a neat pile on the lawn! Nala is not a yapper though will sometimes bark if she hears a new sound that she’s not sure about. She’s not a fan of thunder and fireworks and sleeps better if she can do so inside, so an indoor / outdoor lifestyle is a must in her forever home, and yes she’s housetrained. Despite being full of beans Nala rarely jumps up making her good around older dog-savvy children. While being in care with 3 other dogs she has shown no aggression around food and toys; sharing is caring! She’s a bit too full-on for the household cat, who Nala wants to chase, so a cat-free home would suit her best. This intelligent dog knows sit and will wait until her carer says Ok before tucking into her food. Nala has excellent focus and is always keen to learn. She has also learnt play time which is the command for Nala and her carers’ dogs to head out to the lawn for some wrestling or chaseys. Nala also likes to play tug-o-war with humans and will fetch toys and balls. She has good recall in a backyard though hasn’t spent a lot of time on a lead so will need some practice with this in her forever home. Even during winter this water-baby loves to splash about under the sprinklers or in her carer’s fish-less fish pond, so a doggie pool in her forever home is a must! Having Retriever in her Nala has a lovely coat which is very soft to touch. Looking for a new home through no fault of his own, Boef would be quite happy sharing one with a submissive dog for company if his humans were to be away at work for long hours each day. And he’d be super delighted if there were children as Boef interacts lovingly with the 4, 9 and 11 year old ki...ds he’s sharing his foster home with. He is described as an affectionate and fun young dog who would be a loyal addition to any active household. Handsome Boef is an energetic and loving young boy. Some of the things he likes include - bouncing after thrown tennis balls, foraging for treats in the backyard and going on fast paced walks! This confident dog enjoys the company of humans of all shapes and sizes and when you meet him he’ll probably try to make a good first impression by giving your hand a gentle nuzzle with his nose. Boef gets along great with cats, is fascinated with guinea pigs, and likes to watch birds. If left alone for a few hours, Boef benefits from being provided with a long lasting treat such as a filled Kong or bone. Rope toys, rubber rings and other durable items are a must for this vigorous boy. He does require supervision around other dogs when treats are being handed out, as he can be a bit greedy and attempt to take high prize items off others. A stern Leave it assists to direct Boef back to his own treat. Boef only barks for a reason and would make a great guard dog as he displays a keen awareness of his surroundings. He sits on command, and as he is still a pup at only 12 months old Boef would benefit from some more training. He is an intelligent boy who aims to please, and is very motivated by treats. Boef is getting used to walking on a lead and has the most success with a firm harness. He has observed other dogs and people during walks and reacted with appropriate interest. As Boef is toilet trained he would be best suited to a home with an indoor/outdoor lifestyle where he can be part of the household goings on. When inside, he likes to make himself at home by finding a comfy spot to cuddle up in.
