24.01.2022 Its 33 days until Christmas, and only 6 days until the Christmas carols evening at Hemmant Community Church. Its been around for 150 years and is one of the oldest timber churches in Queensland - thats a lot of carols over the years! Please join us! 6pm, Saturday 28 November 2015, Hemmant Tingalpa Road near the Hemmant Train Station.

22.01.2022 Par um pa pum pum! Thank you Peter! Drums nearly finished for the kids for the carols night! If you have a drum from last year bring it along too on 25 November for when we all sing our noisy version of Little Drummer Boy!



22.01.2022 There will be no fireworks, celebrities from The Voice, jumping castles, eftpos facililites, sponsors or hipster food vans at the Hemmant Community Church Carols next Saturday night, 6pm, 28 November. There will however, be baby animals from 4 pm, two local "opera" singers, homemade supper on a trestle table under the stars, facepainting under the jacaranda and beautfiul carols by volunteer musicians. Lots of joyous singing and kids in Christmas shirts. Its just Hemmant Community Church being Hemmant Community Church and it will be lovely. Hope to see you there. Hemmant Tingalpa Road (near the train station).

20.01.2022 Mark the date! The Hemmant Community Carols are on again on Saturday 26 November at 6 pm - with faceprinting from 5:30 pm. Please come along for a night of shameless community singing- supper provided.

17.01.2022 This beutiful little church in Hemmant is 150 years old and still going strong! Its officially one of the oldest churches in Queensland! On Saturday 28 November this local landmark is having a carols evening. All your favourite and traditional carols, face painting under the jacaranda, a twilight supper and shameless community singing. Please share!

15.01.2022 150 years ago, Lewis Carroll published "Alice in Wonderland", and...the Hemmant Community Church in Brisbane opened its doors! Its one of the oldest churches in Queensland and its humble timber walls nestled next to a beautiful jacaranda is now part of the local scenery. Down the road used to be a grand aquarium/zoo - complete with tigers! Now theres a train station and a road to the Port of Brisbane. A lot has changed in Hemmant in 150 years, but hip hip hooray that this local landmark still stands.

15.01.2022 Not long now! It is always a great night! Communal instruments for the kids to play along, Santa visit, light refreshments at intermission. Sausage sizzle ($2) and free Christmas face painting from 5 pm, carols from 6pm.

She spent her teenage years in Hemmant and is looking forward to spreading the love with the paintbrush at the Christmas carols this Saturday afternoon from 4pm.

So a big thanks to the band, the singers, our face painter, the petting zoo & the people who provided it, Santa, the people who contributed to our wonderful yummy supper, our committee & the community, who all made the evening joyful. Thanks to everybody who contributed - for your time, efforts, and community spirit! A big thank you to our fantastic band, to Stage FX for the confetti canons, to the Hemmant Flexible Learning Centre for the help with audio equipment, to Joan Pease MP and Councillor Ryan Murphy for their generous donations to the raffle, to our fabulous face painter, to Grace Communion Carina for their support, to those who helped us put on a good old fashioned supper, and of course a big thank you all the way to the North Pole to Santa! Hope to see you all next year!

Christenings, weddings, funerals, Sunday School...and of course community christmas carols (one of the highs!) Heres a pic of carols night a few years back.
