Hunter Valley Police District (HVPD) officers have been investigating the alleged cultivation of Cannabis in Singleton in recent months and following inquiries executed a search warrant just before 5:30 pm yesterday at a Dimmock Street home at Hunterview. During the search police located an alleged sophisticated hydroponic Cannabis set-up, consisting of 258... Cannabis plants. Police remain at the property today where they are processing and dismantling the set-up. A 28-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Singleton Police Station where he was charged with knowingly take part- cultivate (large commercial quantity Cannabis); cultivate prohibited plant; alter or add to electricity installation for metering; and enhanced indoor cultivation plant for commercial purpose. The Vietnamese National was bail refused to appear at Singleton Local Court today. Detective Inspector Matthew Zimmer, HVPD Crime Manager said it was quite an elaborate set up. "Police then went through the premises and located a number of Cannabis plants being grown by hydroponic lights right throughout the premises, we also identified that there was an illegal diversion of power from the grid. A number of alterations had been made to the house to conceal the operation that included the erection and removal of internal walls. This particular house had been modified for the sole purpose of cultivating Cannabis on a commercial scale. The individuals involved in these operations take part in it for no other purpose other than profit so as a result of that we will be initiating confiscation proceedings against any property that we suspect might be derived from the proceeds of crime" said Detective Inspector Zimmer. 21.01.2022 To all HEMP Party members - Membership Review 2020 If you are a member of the HEMP Party you're vital for us. The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is checking our validity as a party yet again. It’s a standard routine they do regularly to all parties who don’t have a member of parliament. We have to send the AEC a list of at least 500 members and they will then check some of them to make sure we haven’t taken names out of the phone book! If you are contacted by the AEC, ...we need you to just confirm that you are a member of the HEMP Party. To help us send them a list of members who we can rely on to confirm their membership, would you please reply to this message confirming you are one who will. There’s a summary of the AEC rules here: hemp.org.au/join/periodic-reviews Staying Determined We are in an extraordinary moment in history with Corona as well as Cannabis in Australia and never was it more important to have a voice for the average toker against the government’s plans to control the supply of medicine. We need to be allowed to grow our own personal supply and authorities are flat out trying to stop that happening. I have seen with my own eyes how legal regulated Cannabis is simply no big deal for the general population The only people stopping it in Australia are vested interests, like Big Pharma and the police. It’s a good time to ask your local MP’s to ease up, like they have in Canberra. Cannabis is our medicine of choice, in states of America and Canada they have deemed supplies as essential along with other foods and medicines during the pandemic. Keep the HEMP Party registered for the next election Please confirm you will respond to the AEC if they contact you. 17.01.2022 New South Wales, Australia - Launched in 2011, Sniff Off is a collaboration between NSW Greens MLC David Shoebridge and the NSW Young Greens. The campaign aims to bring about an end to the warrantless use of drug dogs in public places by the police. Shoebridge has obtained the NSW police statistics in regard to drug dog use going back as far as 2009. And the shocking thing about the data is it reveals that when a person is searched as a result of a positive indication, no ill...icit substances are found two-thirds to three-quarters of the time. In 2006, when the use of drug dogs in public was relatively new, the NSW Ombudsman released a report detailing that the dogs get it wrong 74% of the time, and when they do get it right, it’s overwhelmingly for small quantities of Cannabis for personal use ... Shoebridge also obtained figures via freedom of information laws in mid-2018, that revealed NSW police had doubled its use of strip searches following a positive drug dog indication over the two years prior. This means that if officers don’t find drugs on an individual as a result of a regular search, following an indication by a sniffer dog, police are then subjecting an ever-growing number of civilians to a strip search that most of the time turns up nothing. And despite NSW police commissioner Mick Fuller claiming there’s been no policy change regarding heightened strip search use, since March last year his force has seen fit to set up screens at Central Station, so officers can make commuters disrobe behind them following a dog indication ... 13.01.2022 Illicit drugs are now being detected at a much greater rate than alcohol in drivers and motorcyclists who were killed or injured on Australian roads. Drugs contribute to about one in five road fatalities in NSW and increased drug use by drivers is a trend across the world as the rate of drink driving has fallen. The increased rate of drug use by motorists was a cause for concern, which requires increased testing and more drug counselling services, says road safety expert Dr M...Continue reading
