18.01.2022 The Biotechnology of Hemp (Cannabis Sativa L.) Plant biotechnology often refers to the manipulation of DNA sequences of a plant species in order to produce a more desirable end product. The industry is at a turning point in cannabis genome evolution, the current generation of growers have the opportunity to develop strains with abilities and benefits outside of our realm of knowledge so far. Breeders are now able to use cannabis strains that were designed for a purpose and d...irectly manipulate the genome, with the ability to dictate what enzymes of a particular metabolic pathway are produced in abundance or alter enzymes to have an increased affinity for a substrate (eg. CBG, CBN, THCA). Follow the link to read more linktr.ee/hfahemp

14.01.2022 "Since undertaking studies in genetic sequencing and bioinformatics, it has been my core focus to understand why certain cannabis genotypes perform well in locations whereas others fail to reach harvest stage. By providing cannabis cultivars to farmers in a variety of climatic conditions, we are creating sustainable production hubs nationally whilst improving the performance of our seed bank". 04.01.2022 Cannabinoids in Hemp Seed Extracts The Australian food standards regarding hemp products for both human and animal consumption is currently governed by the 9-THC content during a crops flowering cycle. There is a major underlying issue here, whilst Hemp flower & leaf material contain many cannabinoids, Hemp seed/grain does not. We explore the research conducted on this topic in our latest article, follow the link in our bio #hempaustralia #hempfood #sustainablefarming

03.01.2022 Phytoremediation with Hemp - The Big Picture Hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) is an annual crop used in both food and non-food industries, it is one of the most suitable and viable bioaccumulator. There are certain characteristics to hemp which make it very suitable for phytoremediation such as high biomass, long root system and a short life cycle of 120-160 days. On top of this, hemp has the ability to absorb very high amounts of heavy metals like lead, nickel, cadmium, zinc and ch...romium. Hemp Farms Australia work closely with NuGrow Au and Caason Group to implement projects involving hemp as a crop rotation to remediate and improve soil health for a sustainable future. 02.01.2022 Cannabis (Cannabis sativa L.) is the genus name for plants that include numerous species, but can be separated broadly into two classes of plants: industrial hemp and medicinal cannabis. Despite clear differences in desirable traits, hemp and medicinal cannabis appear to readily interbreed making it difficult to legally seperate the two species. Current discrepancies among state and federal regulators pose a dilemma in how pesticide use in Cannabis production can be researche...d, addressed and implemented. A working regulatory system for agricultural pesticides requires interactions between producers, industry associations, researchers, state and federal government departments, third-party testing laboratories and educational programs to train farmers and advisors on best management of pest and diseases for managing production in their business models. There is a limited amount of knowledge about Cannabis pests and diseases. Industrial hemp has been legally grown in Australia for 21 years yet legalisation for human consumption only opened up in 2017, but there is minimal peer-reviewed literature on pests and their impact on hemp yields in Europe, Canada and Australia. However, there is some literature that has identified pests present in both hemp and medicinal cannabis. To read more follow our link - linktr.ee/hfahemp

02.01.2022 Cannabis as Conundrum: Pests, Pesticides and Diseases There is a limited amount of knowledge about Cannabis pests and diseases. Industrial hemp has been legal to grow in Australia for 21 years yet legalisation for human consumption only opened up in 2017, therefore there is minimal peer-reviewed literature on pests and their impact on hemp yields. Since 2014, our data collection on pest and disease control has become vital to improving crop yields and greater returns for our... farmers and their soils. 02.01.2022 Seeding sustainable grain & fibre hubs is one of the most important cogs within all agricultural supply chains. Each succesfully harvested crop we seed on Australia's mainland improves supply chain security, and allows local manufacturers to source material year round from multiple harvests. Our seed bank has been designed to deliver multiple annual harvests in sub-tropical climates. For more details visit our website.

01.01.2022 Our latest article, we examine the historical myths and realities of industrial hemp and High THC cannabis (marijuana) through a questionnaire conducted by David P West. For too many years, emotion not reason has guided our policy toward this crop. And nowhere have emotions run hotter than in the debate over the distinction between the two. This paper is intended to inform that debate by offering scientific evidence, so that farmers, policy makers, manufacturers, and the... general public can distinguish between myth and reality.
