01.01.2022 Have you heard of MTHFR, the genetic mutation that can wreak havoc with your health? Maybe not but chances are you have heard of autoimmunity, add and adhd, autism, anxiety and depression, mental health, neurodegenerative disease, cardiovascular disease, miscarriage, blood clotting issues, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue amongst other ‘syndromes’ and many more modern day maladies The flipside of this gene is that it is thought it is the genetic programming for genius.... You might have personal experience like I do living with some of these or a loved one who does, but most of us are touched in some way be these issues. So for me I am positive for MTHFR and genetic mutation, my version is compound heterozygous meaning I have a copy of each of the two main mutations. My son with ADHD, auditory processing disorder and Asperger’s is heterozygous 677 and daughter who struggles with anxiety is homozygous 1298. Both highly intelligent. My laundry list of issues includes: Autoimmune disease hashimotos thyroid and inflammatory arthritis, as well as a 3rd issue I won’t mention as it is in remission and rather personal in nature Anxiety A history of chronic fatigue miscarriage I am also battling with peri-menopausal symptoms and have had estrogen dominance issues for years. Things that have helped, and believe me I have tried the many. 1. Stress Management 2. Getting a good source of methyl B vitamins, especially B9 aka folate and B12 (Qmax rocks!) 3.
