22.01.2022 Rookie Friday I recall in the early days of recruitment being indulged by having a couple of hours away from the recruitment desk on a Friday afternoon in the boardroom with a mix of seasoned recruiters and rookies who had just started in the industry. The stories circulated during those two hours were impossible to imagine happening but were very true. One such story went a little like this... An executive candidate was interviewed on a Friday by our client to start in a role Monday. The male candidate was highly qualified, ultimately suited for the position and awarded the role. As is routine on the first day, a follow-up call was placed to the candidate and client. The candidate was happy and had settled in well. The clients feedback was very similar and equally complimentary, but suggested she had arrived for work and all was tickettyboo. When questioned she turning up and not he we took the approach of however the workload gets done, we don’t care whether it be a she or a he. The client was thrilled as the work was being attended to by a capable candidate no matter what gender they presented in from a Friday to a Monday.
