24.01.2022 Counting every dollar and making every cent count. I wonder how many in Parliament House have any clue what this is like, let alone doing it for years - and staying sane. The LNP is on a path and will not deviate from it. Their mission is to force people to survive on $40/day, to agree to Mutual Obligations and often to do over 15 hours of unpaid work to qualify for payments. We have the ideal conditions to change how things are, and find new ways of looking after our most vulnerable. I fear the LNP will ignore this chance. :(

24.01.2022 A government that cuts payments to our poorest while ignoring the appalling behaviour of its own ministers tells us all we need to know. The LNP is not good for Australia! :( Morrison's refusal to do anything about his ministers makes a joke of his Ministerial Standards statement from 2018. The full statement is in the comments of this post.

24.01.2022 I wholeheartedly agree with this message.

23.01.2022 When Senator Rachel Siewert leaves the Senate in 2022 it will be a huge loss to our parliament. She has been like a 'dog with a bone' when it comes to the needs of our poor and many others. https://www.smh.com.au//greens-wa-senator-announces-retire

22.01.2022 You'll be reading more from me, from now until the next election. I'll share posts like this one, posts that I can relate to. Posts like this because for a whole lot of men, women and children in Australia - homelessness might happen to them before Christmas 2020. :(

21.01.2022 Sounds true to me. It is time for the Libs and Nats to go. I'd like to see Dan Andrews as our next PM.. if it is at all possible.

21.01.2022 At a time when the economy is reeling and jobs are not that easy to find - this news from the LNP. :(

20.01.2022 Times change but losing this news segment leaves a big hole in ABC morning radio.

19.01.2022 An excellent plan!

18.01.2022 I find this image confronting. Not because it would make me back away from my political aspirations. This makes a joke of our 'democracy' - our 'fair go' for everyone, and the building that is supposed to give us hope and fill us with pride. :( To all women: young or not so young, black/brown/white/pink or even green, religious/spiritual/atheist ~ Stand up to the current culture, step up, be fearless. <3 Australia . Deserves . Better !

17.01.2022 Australia 2020 is a country I hardly recognise. With drought, fires, floods and now covid today is the day when we all ask R U OK? So, how are you doing? <3

17.01.2022 Our parliament needs a major Do-Over.

12.01.2022 EDUCATION. If this is what thirteen years at a private school creates.. then it is time to cancel all government funding to such institutions. These schools for the elite pride themselves on the 'quality young men' they produce... and some go on to enter politics or become Prime Ministers. No wonder our country is so broken. Shame on this school and shame on these brats for their appalling behaviour!

11.01.2022 'Rich old white guys' looking out for other rich old white guys. We need a more diverse parliament to ensure this sort of thing doesn't happen again.

10.01.2022 This is not how I would 'mend' our economy.

09.01.2022 This week I've been getting messages, Be Strong in the face of Adversity, A Woman's Place is in the Senate, I am Woman, Hear me Roar!... So many amazing women have left us in the last couple of weeks. <3

09.01.2022 Shame on Woolworths! :( Now into day 11 of their lockout of staff at a Central Coast, NSW distribution centre. Why? Woolworths has retaliated because staff took one strike day when their request to be paid the same rate as staff in Sydney distribution centre was rejected. I strongly suggest boycotting Woolworths stores. This behavious is NOT acceptable - especially in the middle of a health and economic crisis.

08.01.2022 I so hope that in my lifetime we get to have Dan Andrews as PM. I'm not a big fan of Labor.. but in Victoria Dan really sets the bar high for what an Aussie politician should do. <3

08.01.2022 I have a confession to make. I am a bully. I make people cry. :( Don't judge me. I love doing things like this. :D (For those that don't know, I run a small embroidery business, and this was a surprise for a friend, two years ago.)... https://www.facebook.com/sewcialdyes/videos/2124744704454371/ See more

08.01.2022 I agree. I'm not in favour of an all women parliament but we need at least 50% representation and a mix of rich, poor, educated, disabled - and then to see how things improve for everyone.

07.01.2022 This came up in my feed and I believe that our Aussie politicians should follow her lead. Most of our 'leaders' wouldn't know how much change is in their wallet or what it is like to pack your own groceries or queue in a supermarket. We MUST change our leaders.

06.01.2022 On Dogs in Politics Day ~ meet my gorgeous rescue boy, Riley. Every day he does something that makes me smile.

06.01.2022 This works for me. :)

06.01.2022 I think this idea has a lot of merit. As the LNP is about to cut the JobSeeker supplement and the JobKeeper payments many will need to tighten their belts and make cuts. This would ensure our children are well fed and their brains are ready to absorb as much as possible - every day. :) Australia needs a government that is prepared to look at more than just the surplus/deficit bottom line, and is able to see the side effects of endless cuts to services and safety nets.

05.01.2022 I have just watched this Four Corners program. I am no fan of the Liberal party. Thank you to Louise Milligan, and to the women who were prepared to share their thoughts. I have wondered if parliament is for me, for many reasons. Hopefully if/when I get there ministers like the Attorney General are no longer around, that the PM who turns a blind eye is no longer around, and that between now and then more women are prepared to speak out. I have survived my share of life's chal...lenges and I am made of stern stuff. When the next federal election is announced I will nominate for the Senate. I suggest you do not try to eat or drink while watching this. https://scontent.fbne6-1.fna.fbcdn.net//49486373_726382038

03.01.2022 What a life in politics should be.

03.01.2022 For more than ten years Senator Rachel Siewert has called for Newstart (now JobSeeker) to be increased. When she leaves the Senate at the end of her term it will be a big loss. I hope to one day be in the Senate and keep fighting for a fair go for our 'poorest' Australians.

03.01.2022 For over 1 million Aussies 2021 will get off to a rough start. We used to have a good 'safety net' for when people are doing it tough. In the last 30 years that has been reduced and rules tightened so that now it is just a pittance to try and survive on and a whole lot of hoops to jump through. If you'd like to know what my alternative would be - there is a NOTE called LIVING ALLOWANCE (in the NOTES tab).

03.01.2022 For Australia to become the best country it can be.. I think we'll need some sort of revolution.

02.01.2022 As always, Sammy J nails it! Our Aged Care Minister needs to step down from this Ministry - at the very least. I've had plenty of jobs but if I ever turned my back and walked out when being asked about poor performance - I knew there would be no job to go back to.

01.01.2022 Something seriously wrong in our parliament when this crap is allowed, repeatedly. :(
