20.01.2022 Bowls SA is saddened to let our bowls community know of the passing of Ron Mitchell on the weekend. Throughout his time, Ron put endless effort into Bowls in So...uth Australia, in many roles. An esteemed member of the West Lakes Bowling Club, Ron also served on a number of committees and of late will be remembered for his herculean effort in being the first President of the Metropolitan Bowls Association. Ron was also a former Bowls SA Board Member and Chair of the Coaching & Junior Development committee for a number of years. Many a junior bowler can attribute their start and development in the sport thanks to Ron. Ron won an Administrator of the Year and a Coach of the Year award during his outstanding service to lawn bowls in South Australia. Condolences to the Mitchell family and the West Lakes Bowling Club.

10.01.2022 Circular to members At the Board meeting held today (Monday 4th May) the decision was made to defer re-opening the Henley greens , pending further information from the State Government regarding the relaxation of restrictions on use of sporting facilities. Taken into consideration was the need to be able to provide access to the club house toilet facilities. At this time this is not allowed under the restrictions as they stand. Further information will be sent out to members as soon as possible.

05.01.2022 Congrats to our Division Two Side for a massive result yesterday against Brighton, which will see them play off against Morphett Vale in the Grand Final next Saturday at Grange and returning to Division One next season Our Premier League side gave it a red hot crack yesterday against Adelaide but just fell short, losing by 12 shots in a high quality prelim final. 04.01.2022 The Henley Bowling Club greens will be re-opened from Tuesday 12th May and can be used by Henley members only subject to strict social distancing and hygiene practices being implemented. The total number of people present at the venue cannot exceed 20, and on each green 10. A booking system will be used to facilitate efficient use of the available spaces and to maintain a register of attendees. BOOKINGS MUST BE MADE. Please ring Marshy/Kath at the Club on 8356 8506 during the... opening times to make a booking. There will be no access to the club house except to access toilets. Rinks will be available Tuesday to Saturday, 12 noon to 4.00pm. The venue Supervisor has the full support of the Board to manage the operation. Access to the greens can only be continued while the requirements are met.

From next Monday the club will be able to accommodate further activities on site by members. a) Government legal obligations must be followed a t all times refer to Notice Board refer any issues to the responsible officer present b) The bar will be open for sales of alcohol drinks must be consumed SEATED at tables in the club house or outside and following the distancing and association rules (see below) c) Regular bowls events (Winter Social Bowls/ Friday pairs etc) can re-commence with restricted numbers of participants. Again, restrictions will apply (see below) d) Winter Social bowls can be booked on the bookings sheets as before e) Friday pairs contact Geoff Birbeck Indoors A maximum of 20 persons allowed per area (the club has two areas), seated at tables which must conform to social distancing requirements for spacing.
