25.01.2022 It is good to see that Charles Sturt Council is aware of this issue.

24.01.2022 The Bringing Back Butterflies organisation are currently inviting volunteers to join them in a citizen science project to bring back the endangered Bitter Blue butterfly. You will be provided with free bitter bush plants. This is a great opportunity to boost your own garden or park with these plants. The bitter blue bush butterfly will only survive in unison with a Bitterbush plant. I have planted some in my front yard and they seem to be doing quite well, but there needs to be many more of these plants in our environment. Please contact this organisation for further information. Cheers

22.01.2022 The Coastal Info Van will be in Henley Beach this week at the following times. This is a great opportunity to ask all of the questions you have about the care of our beaches, now and into the future. Check out the times below.

21.01.2022 Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas.

21.01.2022 A white fronted Chat - spotted by Taperoo Dunes. Have you seen any unusual birds in the coastal area?

20.01.2022 Hi all, for those who have contacted me re the Bitter Blue bush plants, who would like to follow up on this opportunity, please contact [email protected] or ring Steve on 0413 562 988. I believe there is also information on the Botanical Gardens website plus the Bring Back Butterflies facebook page. This is a chance to adopt some plants and hopefully some butterflies, but also to help with research in this area. ... I will be picking up some plants on Thursday morning and I am happy to pick up some extra for anyone who wants to be involved. You will need to pick them up from my house. However, I have to let BBB know how many plants and to pickup some information on how to plant the Bitter Bush. Cheers, happy planting. It would be good to help the Bitter Blue bush butterfly.

16.01.2022 What a relief to say goodbye to 2020 and welcome 2021. We wish all of you a healthy and happy year. This is a great article on birds of Adelaide and SA. Happy bird watching. It would be great to know what birds are out there, particularly around the coastal areas.

16.01.2022 Something for all of you green thumbs out there.

16.01.2022 Grant applications close on September 16th.

16.01.2022 It is very interesting to learn about this International Bird Sanctuary and to see some of the birds visiting our shores. They are having three opening days.

16.01.2022 What a great idea.

14.01.2022 Do you have a project that you would like to undertake in your community? Maybe working with your neighbours to plant natives on the verge, or developing a section of a local parkland, or a school project. Check out these grants.

13.01.2022 A very early view of Kingston Park. All of that area is now built up. It certainly highlights the changes that have occurred to our coastline.

12.01.2022 Can you believe it's been over a week since we closed our Henley Beach Library doors? Our Henley team have been incredibly busy in this time relocating an enti...re library next door to its temporary pop-up location at the Henley Town Hall, and doesn't it look amazing?! We are all set to open this morning at 9:30am and for all of you who have been patiently awaiting their holds ... well we can tell you there are plenty ready. Check out the picture of our mammoth holds shelf. Just a couple of things to remember. Entry to this library can be found to the right of the original library entrance via the wooden double doors, and we have moved our after hours return chute to the left of that for easier accessibility once the renovations to our library commences. PC access, Wi-Fi and printing/photocopying facilities are also up and running. The only thing we need now are our customers, so we hope to see you down here today.

12.01.2022 How about having your photograph taken with a local tree, Trees for Life will then plant a tree for you in the Trees for Habitat program.

12.01.2022 This is a very interesting and enjoyable course. I recommend it.

11.01.2022 This looks like a great thing to do.

10.01.2022 Bring Back Butterflies will soon be selling off their excess plants. I am sure they will be very reasonable.

10.01.2022 What a great place to go and plant some trees!

09.01.2022 We have removed so many of these magnificent trees. No wonder our wildlife is struggling. It would be good to find public spaces where these trees can survive and thrive.

09.01.2022 What a beautiful state we live in.

08.01.2022 I have just realised what I can do with that polystyrene box I have. I first came across this in the Henley Community Garden where they use wicking beds very effectively.

07.01.2022 Some of the tree posers out there. Tomorrow is the last day to send your photo in.

06.01.2022 We have some Ruby salt bush in the HB dunes.

06.01.2022 Just amazing. Check out the size of the people climbing up the tree.

05.01.2022 What a beautiful sight. A sea of Sturt Desert Peas.

05.01.2022 It would be great to see more butterflies.

04.01.2022 Hi all, this is a last call for anyone who might like to participate in planting three bitter bushes in order to nurture the bitter blue butterfly which is a threatened species. It only survives on the bitter bush and much of its food source has been destroyed as a result of clearing of land. I am going to collect some bitter bush plants this coming Thursday morning. If you would like to be involved in adopting some of these plants for your garden then please send me a message. I will then keep them at my house and you can come and collect them from me. Alternatively you can collect them from Pennington. Refer to the earlier post that I put up. Cheers.

04.01.2022 This looks like an interesting free event.

04.01.2022 It was so disheartening to see this post this morning. Our beach is usually very clean. If you are out on the beach in the next couple of days it would be great if you could pick up any rubbish. Thanks.

02.01.2022 This weed is not that common at HD but it is something to keep an eye out for.

02.01.2022 Windy down at Henley Beach South this morning but a big shout out for the team from #treesforlife who have started planting 1500 native plants this morning in the dunes at Henley Beach South as part of a grant #Henleydunes and #Charlessturtcouncil received from the Coastal Protection Board.

02.01.2022 This looks like an enjoyable thing to do.
