20.01.2022 We are happy to announce that we have been able to re-open the doors to the Henry Lawson Centre in Gulgong. Our business hours are Saturday-Wednesday 10am - 1pm and Thursday-Friday 10am - 3:30pm The centre is volunteer run therefore we cannot always honour these hours so if you are travelling to visit us we suggest that you call in advance to confirm.

17.01.2022 Thanks to Sue Peel and her family from Victoria for the donation of "Henrys Trunk" - an article used by henry when travelling. It has the inscription "Henry Lawson Esq - New Zealand" embossed on the top.

16.01.2022 Pictured is the grave of Henry Lawsons father, Peter Larsen. According to one of his writings, Lawson built the picket fence that surrounds the grave in Mt Victoria Cemetery, Hartley Vale.

15.01.2022 Henry Lawson is pictured here with two nurses in the nursing home where he was hospitalised after having a stroke in 1921. He died in 1922 at the age of 55.

14.01.2022 Pictured is a schoolhouse in New Zealand where Henry Lawson and his wife Bertha both taught while living in NZ shortly after they were married. At the time there were no qualifications needed to be a teacher there and it was good for Lawson as there was no alcohol and they were only sent general supplies every two weeks. It was while living in NZ that Lawson wrote the famous short story, The Loaded Dog.

13.01.2022 Henry Lawson Used to go camping at Mallacoota in Victoria with Tom Mutch, a friend of his who was a politician at the time. They would often go for a month or more at a time.

02.01.2022 Pictured is Peter Larsen, Henry Lawsons father, and the boat harbour in Norway from which he came to Melbourne Australia as a ships officer where he jumped ship to chase gold. As a result, a 10 pound reward was put on his head for exertion but he was never caught for this crime.
