24.01.2022 The Deck is finally ready to roll. Thanks for dropping off the bollards @cityofyarra. Feels like a slice of Europe out here! Fortunately, the council gave us a grant that covered the materials for this job however left little else for labor. So we got our welding certificate from YouTube and knocked up some frames. making the frames from metal allowed us to keep the deck at a low profile minimizing the step from the footpath. The rest was relatively easy. Potting the plants was the more challenging part of the operation and looks to have fallen outside of our limitations. If there are any keen gardeners out there that want to spread a bit of love then come on down and we will reward you generously with something summery and alcoholic :)

24.01.2022 Bookings now open for Christmas. We have been informed there was a problem with the booking system for this night and wasn't letting people book. It's been fixed now. Every year our Xmas eve dinner sells out. With tickets being even more limited than usual, we recommend getting in fast.... Pictured above is one of the two desserts we will be offering on the night. Butter sponge, bauble filled with spiced Christmas pudding mousse, vanilla ice cream, and cherries. We can cater for all dietaries as always. Let's end this year in good spirit! 23.01.2022 In accordance with recent announcements, we will be open from Tomorrow. We will be serving drinks and a couple of platters on a walk-in basis. Du Puy lentil parfait on a lentil crisp Smoked salmon rillette on a beetroot wafer burnt butter cracker, macadamia paste, pickled celery, finger lime, and saltbush... Spring Bay mussels steamed in @maidenii dry vermouth with fennel from @days_walk_farm, charred asparagus, and broad bean tips with roast cashew cream. Hoese sourdough and cultured butter. Kangaroo loin fillet with blueberry chimichurri, blackened green beans Davidson plum vinaigrette. Stracciatella, bush tomato, honey, and beach banana. Wattleseed tiramisu Oatmilk chocolate ganache with toasted halls creek wattleseed. Highlights the diversity of wattle varieties. Aspects of the menu change weekly and is totally produce-driven. Our set menus can cater to all dietaries including vegan and gluten-free without compromising quality.

19.01.2022 We @kennylovericecream did an ice cream with @deedsbrewing and @carwyncellars. It's essentially a creamy sorbet made creamy by the residual lactose in the pastry stout. It has notes of coffee, coconut, chocolate and cherry. Available through our website or from Kenny Lover.

14.01.2022 Finally the news we've been waiting for! Melbourne has been putting in the hard yards, hopefully it's paid off and we can put the worst of this behind us. We can't wait to welcome you back to Henry Sugar,and in the same breath, can't wait to get out and visit all the venues and people we've been missing. 10.01.2022 Christmas lunch came early for us this year after the photoshoot and we can say this spread has passed all quality control checks. This is our take-home Xmas lunch spread. Designed for people that can't get a table or would prefer to celebrate in their own house. $120 per person. ... THE SPREAD Blueberry and maple-glazed turkey breast and leg. Gravy. Braised butter carrots with tarragon vinaigrette. Kipfler potato salad with herbed mustard vinaigrette. Peas with feta, mint, almonds, and pickled red onion. Garlic bread. Smoked salmon Xmas pudding, cherries, custard, vanilla ice cream. Pick up on the 24th between before 1 pm Order cut off 17th December Can be done vegetarian but not vegan sorry

06.01.2022 Thanks so much to everyone for a great first week back. It's been lovely! Thanks to everyone who supported us over the lockdown and made it possible for us to continue doing what we love. We deeply appreciate it. If you missed out on a booking this weekend we are still doing our cocktails takeaway as well as a couple of picnic platters.... We should be able to take more people from next week as soon as the blocks arrive from @cityofyarra we will install the deck we have been building. Hopefully just in time for warmer weather. 01.01.2022 December is filling up fast but we still have space to host your Christmas function. Due to COVID restrictions, we are limited to groups of 20, and parties must remain seated for service. We have a few dining options and spaces available for late lunches, afternoon snacks/grazing, or dinners. We do two dinner sittings on Friday & Saturday nights, a 6 pm and an 8.30 pm sitting.... Restaurant - seats 20 at 1 long table Private Dining Room - seats 5 (due to density restrictions) Outdoor (undercover) - seats a maximum of 2x 20 with current restrictions Al Fresco Deck (not undercover) - seats 15, CHECK WEATHER! Our set menus can cater to all dietaries including vegan and gluten-free without compromising quality. GRAZING AFTERNOON GET TOGETHER Only available in our afternoon slot, from 2 pm - 5 pm, any day of the week. Basic grazing menu - $30 per person- a spread of our most popular grazing dishes Deluxe grazing menu - $45 per person- includes extra dishes like ceviche, oysters, stracciatella, and bush tomato. LATE LUNCH OR DINNER OPTIONS Group lunches from 1:30-4:30 pm Midweek + Sunday group dinners - 6pm-9pm Friday & Saturday group dinners - 5pm-8pm or 8:15pm until late. 4-course, (pictured above) $70 per person- a great introduction to our style of dining and use of native Australian ingredients. It's a bit faster for groups that want a more casual dining experience. DRINKS We recommend a drink on arrival to get the ball rolling for your guests, our Lilly Pilly Negroni or House Spritz always goes down well. After that, we're very flexible on drinks, we're happy to set up a bar tab and include/exclude anything you like, or put together a 3-hour package, or just go by consumption.
